I have spent the last couple of hours going through each GPO setting to disable as many features for my kids account on Windows 7 ultimate. I saved the file as kids.msc. The only issue is that I want to be able to clear these settings when needed, so that i can fully access the features. I could not find any options in GPO that allows you to reset the settings back to default...

View 9 Replies View Relatedover the last 7 days Ive been experiencing unforced shutdowns of my system.I checked the event log and its related to a critical event: Kernel Power, Event 41, Task category (63).I had a look on the web and their are loads of "fixes", but I havent come accross a thread that led to someone saying the prob was resolved.
1. Possible driver problem - No messing about: reformat SSD and HDD - reinstall Win 7 and basic software (mobo/gpu) -
2. Possible Mobo/GPU/PSU problem - reset mobo back to standard settings - run OCCT test to check CPU/PSU/GPU - No errors -
3. Alter power management plan so pc doesnt sleep/hibernate -
4. Set power plan to high performance
5. Change power management on new gaming keyboard , swap keyboard to make sure (paranoia)
6. Check no duplicate audio drivers.
7. ran Unigine Heaven to give the sys a shakedown.
Its quite frustrating because I cant narrow it down to hardware or software. On the 3/1/2013 it powered down (and restarted) with this error 10 times between 01:25am and 10:52am, however it had stayed stable prior to that and hadnt powered down since 15:16 on the 2/1. So u see it appears random (nothing is random in computing) with the time stamps and no pattern emerging prior to Error 41.

After making some changes to the orientation/positioning of the 2 monitors, I've noticed that a lot of windows are now partially or even completely offscreen. This is especially problematic with MDI programs (programs that have sub-windows inside them, like Photoshop's dialog boxes and palette panes), as there's no way to interact with the offscreen inner windows and bring them back onscreen.
How can I reset absolutely all window positions of every single program? The registry modifications at Folder View Settings - Reset All to Default fixed Windows Explorer and a tiny handful of other programs, but not even WMP and Notepad were fixed.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI bought a Windows 8 laptop, ASUS Q500A, and reformatted it with Windows 7. I went into the BIOS and used "Restore Defaults" and now all Boot Option Priorities are deleted. Each time I boot the laptop, it automatically goes to BIOS (or UEFI). I tried inserting the Windows 7 disc so I can access Startup Repair or Command Prompt but it freezes before it could get anywhere even when I tried it with an external CD/DVD drive. I cannot get the laptop to boot to the hard drive or CD drive at all, how I can reset the boot option priorities so it will be boot to the hard drive again.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI changed it was because I tried to optimize (my mistake) by reducing it. My router is set to 1365 MTU manually after a support tech from Linksys asked me to change it for a previous problem. I used the "netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Wireless Network connection" mtu=nnnn store=persistent" command to change it around to find what MTU Windows uses automatically. It was set at 1500 (for both LAN and WLAN). I set the WLAN to 1365 to see how it would perform, didn't see a noticable change I believe so I switched back. Now I see a slight lag when loading sites. I also compared the time against another pc that I did not tamper with (which by default was set to 1500) and that one worked normally.I fear I may have overridden Windows defaults for handling MTU since after manually setting it to 1500 (was originally 1500 when it was untouched) it lags a little. For the time being I set it to 1365 to get the performance that I normally got with default settings.
My question is if it's possible to get the original performance back with the MTU set back to what it was originally (1500)?Also I learned my lesson and won't be trying to change settings without first making sure they are completely reversible. Also I'd like to do this without using System Restore.
I have a laptop that i often connect to a tv screen. When i am just using the laptop screen i keep the dpi value to its normal default setting, but inceease it when i connect it to the tv so things are easier to read. When i disconnect from the tv and go back to the laptop screen everything is too big bevause of the increased dpi,i set it back to its default settings.However when i do this everything is rediculously small and sometimes impossible to read. Even setting a larger dpi from this point creates text that is too small. I cant go higher from this point because it also makes my windows too big. Does anyone know how i can get back my normal text size with a default setting of 100% dpi?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI suddenly started seeing this ugly font (see images below) on many webpages.I think this issue began right around the time I installed some other fonts, but I am not sure. Initially, I figured it was a Chrome thing but have since confirmed the issue extends to IE and Firefox, leading me to believe this is a Windows issue. By the time I tried to revert the changes via System Restore, it was too late (restore only went back a few days; maybe I need to adjust settings there?).I tried to reset the default font but Windows does not seem to respond to that. When I click "Restore to default font settings" the button greys out but nothing else happens. No dialog box and no change in the issue.
