View 1 RepliesI need to change to default color.
View 1 RepliesOn my Windows 7 at the bottom left it shows:Test Mode,Windows 7,Build 9780,Also I changed the boot screen but I can't now change it back to the default, I tried using the command prompt but didn't work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI changed it was because I tried to optimize (my mistake) by reducing it. My router is set to 1365 MTU manually after a support tech from Linksys asked me to change it for a previous problem. I used the "netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Wireless Network connection" mtu=nnnn store=persistent" command to change it around to find what MTU Windows uses automatically. It was set at 1500 (for both LAN and WLAN). I set the WLAN to 1365 to see how it would perform, didn't see a noticable change I believe so I switched back. Now I see a slight lag when loading sites. I also compared the time against another pc that I did not tamper with (which by default was set to 1500) and that one worked normally.I fear I may have overridden Windows defaults for handling MTU since after manually setting it to 1500 (was originally 1500 when it was untouched) it lags a little. For the time being I set it to 1365 to get the performance that I normally got with default settings.
My question is if it's possible to get the original performance back with the MTU set back to what it was originally (1500)?Also I learned my lesson and won't be trying to change settings without first making sure they are completely reversible. Also I'd like to do this without using System Restore.
Yesterday I noticed while I was playing Counter Strike, that the colors changed so did the brightness. I thought it was only the game, but I went on the internet and it was brighter than it was before.

I use the same software to try to change it back and it wont let me, is there a way to get it back, I used logon controller to change, logon controller has an option to put the default logon screen back but it doesn't seem to work at all, please help.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI get the pop up message whenever my computer is taxed (running a bunch of programs all compatible with the new graphics) that tells me my computer apears to be running slowly and the color scheme will be changed to win basic. It then changes and stays that way until next reboot. I would like to turn this off..
View 9 Replies View RelatedHaving a bit of a problem with my taskbar. Its looking kinda strange. That is, it has changed from the theme colour to a grey colour and the graphics have become basic. It looks like the taskbar from something like Windows '98, to be honest. Also, the actual windows that programs open in are also a grey/white colour, like the taskbar. I'm not really all that computer smart. My PC is an ACER Aspire5738Z.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI went to Control panel->Default programs->Associate a file type with a program and changed the association to file .BAT to explore.exe.Now, when I click on a bat file with the mouse, the whole desktop starts shaking. I think it goes into a loop. The problem, when I go back to Controlpanel-> Default programs->Associate a file type with a program. The extension .BAT is no longer there! It is gone. And when I examine the file property of some .bat file, there is no option to change what to open it with. There is no open with... only OPEN option. There is also no way to add a new file extension in Control panel->Default programs->Associate a file type. I can't add .bat again.I did Control panel->Default programs->Set progream access and computer defaults but still the .bat file association is broken, and when I double click on it, same thing happens. Now when I right click on a .BAT file from exploer, I also do not see the EDIT option any more.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI turned on my computer today and for some reason, my desktop had a different background and all of my icons were gone. I couldn't figure out what happened, but after a little looking I found out that for some reason, it was using the Desktop folder from a User called TEMP, instead of the one with my name on it like it usually does. How would I make my desktop use the Desktop folder in my User instead of the one in TEMP?
View 5 Replies View Relatedi needed to pawn my laptop for a short time and didnt want my files to be viewed by anyone while it was not in my possesion, so what i did i changed the file permissions of my c: drive so that only admin had fulll control and no one else. well now i cant access my c: drive with my admin accrt. nor will it let me change the file permissions either. also a hand full of other things will not work such as the internet explorer icon on the task bar or start menu but i can open i.e. from the recently viewd submenu from the i.e. icon on the start menu. also i can open files on my c: drive from any old shortcut icons i had left on my desktop but i cant acces them directly from explorer. so i found some work arounds but really need to get full control of my h/d.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using windows 7 professional for over a year now, two days ago most of my icons (all microsoft office icons, and some other softwares) have been changed to default. They all function properly, just the icon is changed to default. Its irritating.
I tried searching on this forum for similar issues, most of them have been corrected by changing shell icon folder from regedit. I can locate that on my system.
I was having probs installing Office 2007 a while back and whilst using 2 forums for help to resolve the issue, one of the things i had to do was (i think) change the default install path for when i'm installing new programs. The 2 links for the help pages i was using are: Office 2007 Install Error 2203 - Office Setup Error 2203. An Internal Error has occurred.
The problem i've created is that now i'm unable to apply most updates for the programs that are currently installed (and thus on shutdown it always tries to apply updates, that fail) and also, i'm not able to install and new programs.
I recently bought a new Asus K53e which had Win 7 Home Premium installed and it was in 64bit. I wanted a ultimate version so i installed that. It was working perfectly but then i went to drive c and saw program files x86 and i didnt i was confused because i didnt want it. I havent touched that folder but then i started researching on how to make all my softwares get installed into the 64bit (Program Files) so sevenforums and other sites told me to go to regedit and change the programfiledir to the one you want so i just removed the (x86) and saved it. I also change Program W6432Dir, ProgramFilesDir (x86), and ProgramFilesDir to just C:Program Files (Value Data). So then i installed adobe cs6 master collection and some programs failed to start. I got the message: C:Program Files (x86)adobeadobe dreamweaver cs6dreamweaver.exe The specified path does not exist. Check the path, and then try again. So now this has happened to adobe cs6 master collects ( some of them like dreamweaver ) and some other softwares.I also forgot what the original ProgramFilesDir, ProgramW6432Dir and ProgramFilesDir (x86) was set to.

This is how it all went down: I was playing a game and since my internet was disconnected, i unplugged my router and replugged it.It connected, but now the windows glass color changed to complete silver.I feared the worst and tried replugging some things fully in since some were loose. My computer automatically shut off, even though nothing completely essential to keeping the system on was plugged out.I turned it back on, only to see HIM, the message of Non-Genuine windows. Here is the MSDiag:

So theres all the technical information. Also, my computer came with windows installed, so i looked that up as well. There is apparently some card on the front of my system that has the Activation code,. All i see on the Front of my computer is a small windows 7 sticker, an AMD Vision sticker, and a Quad Core sticker
change the color settings in Windows 7 to the default color settings in Windows XP so I can run a tool in Microsoft Excel.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy System OS: Win 7 x64.All ICONs for MS apps, Snagit, UltraEdit/Compare , Adobe got wacked when I installed Solarwinds Advanced Subnet Calculator v9.0.6.I have a request out to them to see if they have any knowledge. How do I get the original icons back?I had this happen a short while back but did not know when it happened and after trying the myriad ideas that I came across on the web and thru this form learned that this seems to be a known issues and has been since Vista but no fixes surfaced. As it has been some time since my last post perhaps someone has uncovered a fix.I just tried using the restore point back to before the Solarwinds App was installed and no change so it seems that whatever files got smacked by the application install did not get changed back by the restore point operation.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i returned to my work computer after lunch and the resolution had been changed to 800x600, very odd.Now i have spent 2 hours trying to get back my resolution to the 1680x1050 that is was before but i still can not choose anything higher then 1600x1200 under Screen Resolution settings. The one with the correct ratio i can choose is 1280x960 and i'd like to bigger one back.I have updated the driver for my graphics card (ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics accoridng to Device Manager). I have updated the driver for the Monitor (HP LE2201w), but the monitor still shows up as Generic Non-PnP Monitor under Device Manager and now i am out of ideas... I really have no idea what the hell happened when i was gone.(And yes, the computer was locked so it wasn't someone else changing something)Uninstalling the driver for the Generic device does nothing, it pops back up again after installing the correct display driver, or after a restart. It's like the display driver i downloaded from HP is not being installed, no idea why.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEvery time I use the command Ctrl+C to copy. My Windows aero colour scheme returns to default colors. The only way to change it back is to hit Ctrl+C 10 more times!!! This seems to be an odd issue but its really annoying as I copy and paste allot XD.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was trying to download a trial of adobe photo shop to do my homework and i am on my moms laptop. i went to open the program and a dialog box popped up asking what program i wanted to use to open this file, (i didnt notice the checked box at the time stating it was going to use this option for all files associated with this extension!) and the only available program that was listed was WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER and i needed to use the program so i clicked on it.... wish i wouldnt have. it changed ALL my .exe programs ie; google, firefox, system restore and now anytime i try to run anything the media center comes up!!
I have seen on the web that several other people have done the same exact thing. I was freaking out cause this is not my computer and so i went to accounts and made a new admin desktop, which is what i am on now. i have found involves doing something on the actual desktop that is messed up. but i cannot open any executable files on that desktop ie;command prompt,so i cannot do anything on there.
i know there has to be some way to reverse what i did, i just need someone to walk me through the process so i dont screw the computer up any more than i already have, i am able to open system restore in the new desktop, i but dont think that will have any affect on the change i made let alone have an effect on the other desktop from this desktop. I also went to the place on the desktop to change the default for programs and .exe is not listed.
my default program for search engine accidently changed how should i get it back

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a USB external hard drive that I keep all my documents etc on (had it for years)I upgraded from Vista Home to & Home Premium then had to upgrade recently to Professional to run my Sage. Through all these upgrades my ext. drive ran fine. Occasionally the drvie letter would change if I had something else plugged into the USB, this was always easily corected in disk management by changing the drive path. The connection on the case packed up so I had to get the drive put into a new case, now when I plug it in the drive is assigned G instead of F, I tried to change the drive letter allocation in Disk Management but it won't let me as the program still thinks I have a second ext. hard drive which is labelled F. I suspect this has happened because when the usb connection broke the drive was disconnected suddenly instead of a proper eject. How do I get Disk Management to remove the inactive drive - i can't find any obvious way - eject, delete etc are all missing when I click on tools or tasks.
