Having a bit of a problem with my taskbar. Its looking kinda strange. That is, it has changed from the theme colour to a grey colour and the graphics have become basic. It looks like the taskbar from something like Windows '98, to be honest. Also, the actual windows that programs open in are also a grey/white colour, like the taskbar. I'm not really all that computer smart. My PC is an ACER Aspire5738Z.

This is how it all went down: I was playing a game and since my internet was disconnected, i unplugged my router and replugged it.It connected, but now the windows glass color changed to complete silver.I feared the worst and tried replugging some things fully in since some were loose. My computer automatically shut off, even though nothing completely essential to keeping the system on was plugged out.I turned it back on, only to see HIM, the message of Non-Genuine windows.Here is the MSDiag:

So theres all the technical information. Also, my computer came with windows installed, so i looked that up as well. There is apparently some card on the front of my system that has the Activation code,. All i see on the Front of my computer is a small windows 7 sticker, an AMD Vision sticker, and a Quad Core sticker
So I'm a new Windows 7 user and I've noticed that last night when I left the computer on my taskbar's changed from grey to lightblue somewhere during the morning. Also, when I hover over or click the icons on the bar (say firefox), it no longer shows small samples of the windows/maps, but instead just shows the name of the map/program/window (the normal old xp style).
Then after a bit of time on the computer, the screen suddenly flashed and the taskbar was back to gray again and everything became how it was before. Why the hell is the computer/windows 7 doing this by itself?
Is it possible to easily change the taskbar's font color (buttons + clock)? I can't believe I can have a solid white background with white fonts on it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Windows 7 Prof yesterday (from XP Prof) and now i m exploring features in Windows 7.I notice the color of WLAN in the bottom right color of my taskbar is showing as white which is not very good to indicate the signal strength. i would like to ask how can i change it to green.I do not want to go Control panel -> Personalise to change the desktop theme or color scheme as this will change all the icons color. I just want to change the WLAN icon color.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi am running at a resolution of 5760x1080 and notice that the mouse over preview on aplications pinned to the task bar have changed to text. this problem has been going ov for some time. when i change my resolution back to 1920x1080 (16x9) it works just fine. i am using the aero theme so that should not be the problem. i think that my computer thinks i have less ram than i do. i have 10 gb of ram, soon 16, and i am only using 30pct if im not doing something graphics intense.

See, I'm a game modder, and this requires me to have many folders open at once. The problem is, when my computer goes to sleep and then wakes up, the order of my folders on the taskbar is changed. This bugs me to no end, and I'm wondering how I can stop this reordering from happening.
I want to color calibrate my new Dell XPS 15z laptop, but before I do I'd like to back up the existing color profile in case I prefer it to the calibrated one ...
The only problem is, when I open Color Management, NO default color profile is listed, so I don't know what to go back to. I know there HAS to be a default color profile somewhere ... How do I find it?

There is a gray box appearing at the top of the desktop over top of the desktop icons. It is about 2" x 3", solid gray, with nothing on it (no text or buttons). It doesn't appear when windows first starts, and the only way to get rid of it is to restart the computer.
I am trying to set my monitor's screen give accurate renditions of my pictures. I use Quick Gamma to set gamma. When doing this I can use either Nvidia's controls or windows controls (right click desktop>Nvidia Control Panel. When using Nvidia's Control Panel, there are two choices: Use other applications control color settings or Use Nvidia settings. Am I correct in assuming that the former setting is Windows? I always check the button to use Nvidia settings (and then Apply>OK), but when I go back to this screen at a later time, the Other applications control color settings is always selected. I'd like to default to Nvidia.

Every once in a while the entire screen will seem to dim as if you were looking through a cloud. I suspect it is some Aero effect, but I would like to know why it does that as it can happen when I am not using eithre the mouse or the keyboard. It seemingly just does it on its own. It only lasts a second or two.

Not necessarily at the same time, but in the end none of them is working. But apart from that everything works fine, the computer doesn't freeze. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have two hard drives, each has two partitions, XP is on C and Windows 7 is on the second hard drive. XP was installed first. then 7 in a dual boot. When I am in XP I can see all the hard drives like normal. When I am in Windows 7 I cannot see the C drive with XP. Windows Explorer only gives several folders on C, none of them Windows. Is this normal and do others have the same thing? Or is something amiss with my computer.Also, can I install programs to the same place for both systems? I tried a couple small ones and they seem to act all right. I am installing my programs to the second partition of my second hard drive. (Windows 7 is on the first partition). Is this ok to do or will I run into problems.

It is called the neverhood, and was around at the sort of time when windows 95 was the latest OS. I managed to find a copy today and was all excited to play this game, but the colours are really strange, certain shades are fluorescent pink, green, yellow, etc while other lighter shades are the colour they are meant to be. I can only assume this is because I am using the wrong colour depth or something, the problems were lessened when I set my colour depth to 16bit, but still not solved.

Because of the lack of new software, I had to save the file in the doc file format. Then, when I tried to open it to edit it, I noticed that the file icon was not right. It was the blank file icon with the Word 2007 icon on it. Then, I noticed that the rtf files have the correct file icon for doc files. The files can still open, but the wrong icon drives me nuts!

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo about a month ago I restarted my computer and when it came back on all my programs pinned to my task bar and everything that was in my start menu was gone. From there I could not unlock the taskbar and nothing would pin in either the start menu or taskbar. I researched everywhere about it. I tried unlocking the taskbar in properties and registry with no luck. I finally found some posts about how my user profile was corrupt and from there I went on and made a new profile and copied everything and BOOM it all worked fine now. Well today it happened AGAIN! I restarted my computer and everything disappeared. So I think it is still a corrupt profile, but this is the second time it has happened.
