LAN Settings Are Gray And Can't Connect To Any Webpage
Jun 17, 2012
[URL] as you can see my proxy settings are blocked and i cant change them, im using the administrator account in that computer.I cant access any webpage but i can use SKYPE chat and play online.
I have a windows 7 and when I open it up to the start screen it has full bars and is connected, When I put on IE, Google Chrome, Safari won't put up a webpage.
It says either "Cant connect to webpage" or Like No internet access. Error.
BUT, When I got firefox it works fine. And then webpage is on and working. Then, when I download a game or something like that. It says it has no connection when I really want to play it.
So, the problem is how do I get back IE, GoogleC or safarai or Downloaded games when I put them up. Do I have a virus? or something?
I've been running XP for some years and recently set up Win 7 on a new SSD. In XP and using Opera browser, if I clicked on an web page's email link, my email client (Sylpheed) would open with the address inserted. With Win 7 and the email defaults set, it won't. Instead, it always returns an "Internal communication error" page (example link: Contact Us | PCWorld). Below are screenshots of my Win 7 email defaults and Opera preferences setting. One thing I'm not sure about, if it's at all relevant, is where Opera is picking up the default application from. In XP, it picked up Opera email as the default. The Other Application file location shown is exactly the same in both, except for the drive letter.

There is a gray box appearing at the top of the desktop over top of the desktop icons. It is about 2" x 3", solid gray, with nothing on it (no text or buttons). It doesn't appear when windows first starts, and the only way to get rid of it is to restart the computer.
I just installed windows 7 64bit and have been further installing anti-malware and essential programs and drivers but have not finished (I still have unrecognized devices and am mostly using whatever drivers that Windows found on its own.
Every once in a while the entire screen will seem to dim as if you were looking through a cloud. I suspect it is some Aero effect, but I would like to know why it does that as it can happen when I am not using eithre the mouse or the keyboard. It seemingly just does it on its own. It only lasts a second or two.
Maybe this has something to do with the last round of updates. There are now transparent gray x's on the corners of the documents on my desktoop. They are on both .docx and Wordpad documents. I opened one of the documemts and it opened find but I cannot understand the purpose of these odd gray x's.
There was a quick power outage and the computer was forced off. I rebooted and now after the windows logo there is a gray screen that remains a very long period of time before the desktop appears. I am able to move the mouse but that is the only functionality I have.
Having a bit of a problem with my taskbar. Its looking kinda strange. That is, it has changed from the theme colour to a grey colour and the graphics have become basic. It looks like the taskbar from something like Windows '98, to be honest. Also, the actual windows that programs open in are also a grey/white colour, like the taskbar. I'm not really all that computer smart. My PC is an ACER Aspire5738Z.
Some how I have changed some settings on Windows 7 or IE9 that makes all my text backgrounds gray and my used links do not change color anymore. I've looked all over the Control Panel trying to find out how to change them back. I've reset preferences in IE9 but nothing changes.

All mapped drive initially working. Now only 1 map shows a grey "X" over the folder icon with a "This file is currently not available for use on this computer" error message.Inside a H:xxxx is not accessibleOther maps, M, O, S, U to same server and drive are 100% OK and this H for Home directory WAS working.Other mapped drives are OK.Same display and error if browsing UNC to mapped share.Created NEW mapped drive to same share and same problem.Share is fine from other non win 7 PC's XP and Vista (Both x86)I'd been playing with ISO mounting software from MagicISO, MagicDisk, PowerISO, ISODisk, Elaborate Bytes.

My sony vaio ( Windows 7 home premium 64bit) has internet connection issues lately. Heres what happens: My signal strength is 100% but when i open any program(Ex: Yahoo Messenger) or any internet browser it simply says that the webpage cannot be displayed or its not available. However, i am able to connect online with IE 64bit. SO a friend of mine checked the computer and clearly confirmed that the startup settings, services and registry settings related to the same are corrupted. So since i dont know ANYTHING AT ALL about computers :3 , i was wondering if you guys could help me out by telling me how to fix these *little* problems.
I want to save snapshots of webpages, including all text, photos, etc. just as I see the webpage in my browser (Firefox).
I have been using the File -> Save Page As function, but I now discover that the saved .htm file is still tied to the webpage and can be lost if the webpage is changed. I want to archive a snapshot of the webpage at that particular point in time.
Do I need an app that works in Windows 7, or a Firefox add-on?
a friend finally convinced me to install Google Chrome as my browser. The first website I visited would not display properly, therefore I reverted back to Internet Explorer. Now, several of my webpage Desktop Shortcuts open Microsoft Word2007. I've deleted a few of the Desktop Shortcuts and re-installed them; however, I get the same result.
when i click on links in web pages to contact them by email it's not responding so i made google chrome my default web browser so now when i click on email links it takes me to google home page just want to compose new mail when i click on link

Of 3 users on Windows 7 system one is unable to print any web page within IE (V 9.05). Print Preview shows blank page. Print will print just a blank page. Both of the other users can print web pages from within IE just fine. Note the problem account is able to print web pages from Firefox, just not IE.
I have IE9 I can not open a specific website. All others open without a problem. I get no error message it will not even begin polling to connect. I've checked Add-Ons - no problem; checked Internet Connections and Security issues - no problem; checked through my Anti-Virus program Kaspersky - no problem; restarted computer - didn't change anything. I don't know what else to do!
Is there a way to collect all the links on a web page using Windows 7 (and preferably Chrome)?
For example, I want to send a tutoring student a link to all the angles worksheets which are linked to on this page.
Now, I could get each one by right-click, copy address, tab to my email window, and paste. But there are about 36 links I want (and I don't want to send a link to the page, so they don't have to look for what's needed). How can I collect them into one _something-or-other_ which I can paste into an email?
I tried DownThemAll, but it will only download the files. I merely want the links.
