View 1 Replies View RelatedMy sony vaio ( Windows 7 home premium 64bit) has internet connection issues lately. Heres what happens: My signal strength is 100% but when i open any program(Ex: Yahoo Messenger) or any internet browser it simply says that the webpage cannot be displayed or its not available. However, i am able to connect online with IE 64bit. SO a friend of mine checked the computer and clearly confirmed that the startup settings, services and registry settings related to the same are corrupted. So since i dont know ANYTHING AT ALL about computers :3 , i was wondering if you guys could help me out by telling me how to fix these *little* problems.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI am going to build a new system. It will have a 120gb ssd and 1tb hdd.I usually use the computer for various graphic programs and gaming. Until now i used to have only hdds on my systems, I used to partition them usually like this: c:windows d:various program files and user folder e:graphic programs and their scratch f:games g:storage (projects, videos, pictures, etc).i have decided to get an ssd drive now because I understand that it boosts the overall performance of the system. All the other information that I read about ssd was either irrelevant or too complicated to understand.I am looking for an advise on my new build. Obviously I will use the new hdd for storage but about what I should do with the ssd I am not entirely sure.First of all, should I make partitions on it or this will affect the performance?Second, except for the win system files what should I put on it? Will graphic programs or games benefit from that or should I install them on the hdd? I also read that I should put the temp folders on the hdd for brtter performance is it correct?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to save snapshots of webpages, including all text, photos, etc. just as I see the webpage in my browser (Firefox).
I have been using the File -> Save Page As function, but I now discover that the saved .htm file is still tied to the webpage and can be lost if the webpage is changed. I want to archive a snapshot of the webpage at that particular point in time.
Do I need an app that works in Windows 7, or a Firefox add-on?
a friend finally convinced me to install Google Chrome as my browser. The first website I visited would not display properly, therefore I reverted back to Internet Explorer. Now, several of my webpage Desktop Shortcuts open Microsoft Word2007. I've deleted a few of the Desktop Shortcuts and re-installed them; however, I get the same result.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to collect all the links on a web page using Windows 7 (and preferably Chrome)?
For example, I want to send a tutoring student a link to all the angles worksheets which are linked to on this page.
Now, I could get each one by right-click, copy address, tab to my email window, and paste. But there are about 36 links I want (and I don't want to send a link to the page, so they don't have to look for what's needed). How can I collect them into one _something-or-other_ which I can paste into an email?
I tried DownThemAll, but it will only download the files. I merely want the links.
While a web page is uploaded in Win7 it is not having a center alignment whereas in WindowsXP the same page is being aligned in the center.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded a client's computing site installation. 4 Desktops, software (XP/MS Office 2003 to W7/MS Office 2010) and one MFD. To save some time and make the transition smoother (and attempt to iron out any unforseeables) I set the 4 new workstations up at home - at cat5 hardwired through a TP Link Router under a Workgroup, with each workstation named WORKSTATION01, 02,03 and 04, with file sharing via the workgroup, appropriate advanced sharing center settings and routing via DHCP (dynamic IPs). The network worked flawlessly at home for two weeks, whilst I installed the inevitable updates and made sure when I installed at the site, everything was as up to date as possible and any issues ironed out. However, the client started loosing the ability to navigate to another WORKSTATION via MS Explorer typically, it would happen in the afternoon. Some days, it wouldn't happen at all.BUT! WORKSTATION01 never looses Workgroup visibility in MS Explorer only the other 3 do - and not all at one time always.I've compared all settings on WORKSTATION01 with the other (offending) 3 and they are the same.
All work stations peer at the same level - there is no (higher) server as such. Although WORKSTATION01 has the clients accounting software data file on it and important documents are stored under a SERVER folder which is resident on WORKSTATION01's hard drive. The "visibilities" are always fine when they boot the machines up in the morning. If a device looses the MS Explorer visibility to the Workgroup (under Network) - sometimes rebooting the device restores it, some times it doesn't.They don't loose the MS Explorer visibility if they leave a session(dialogue) permanently open - but they shouldn't have to to that.I've set up a desktop folder with inter-workstation short cuts as a work around and they always work.
Other Considerations:
1) SOFTWARE - running Windows Defender with Firewall On and Avast.
2) FIREWALLS ON/OFF - I've read a lot of threads - the jury seems out on this - some advocate turniong them off, others fervently announce this should NEVER be done - use the right settings!
3) DHCP vs STATIC IPs - again, plently of dispute on this as to whether DHCP or static IPs should be used for device routing.
While wrestling with a problem on my desktop computer with XP Pro OS I'm having to use a laptop with Windows 7 that Im not at all familiar with. Can someone please tell me how to move the Navigation Pane from the left to the right in MS Office 2007 Outlook Express?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi was just wondering if anyone knows of a navigation panel for windows 7 (64 and 32 bit) that is like the one from the default ubuntu installation.
Cairo Shell m1.1 and m1.2 don't work in 64 bit sadly.
I'm using registry-tweaked custom DPI 86 (Windows would show it as 90%).It's wonderful, but it has one major downside. It's using the biggest possible navigation buttons. Now, I tried playing with Win 7 NBC, and even tried messing with explorerframe.dll, nothing works. Whole system acts like it's not loading navigation buttons from explorerframe.dll but from another, hidden source.
I know that such DPI is not supported but am I the only one who thinks that microsoft made every button and bar too freaking big?
frequently my navigation pane at the bottom of my desktop disappears. it usually happens when i leave the laptop running. i can't seem to go to system restore since it only lets me go back to the previous day. this has been going on for over a week and i do not know how to resolve the issue. i have searched the internet to find solutions but have not been able to do so. to resolve the problem i have to bring up the task manger and end explorer. then i have to run explorer again for the navigation bar/pane to appear.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on an item inthe navigation pane and want to scroll down to a certain folder in the main window, the mouse wheel stays on the nav pane. Have to go and click in the main window to scroll.
If you click the navigation pane, then the wheel should in my opinion default over to scroll on the main pane. It's a little bothersome to have to keep clikckingto scroll after i just cliked to open that item in the navitgation pane already.
confused yet? maybe the pic will better describe it. I know it's not a big deal, but......
Like in the pic i clicked on music folder in the left nav pane, i would want it to scroll over on right without having to click mouse again. Maybe it's a matter of preference, but that's mine.
