Sep 10, 2011Recently I was attacked with malware and I had no internet security. It messed up some programs, changed the description of processes etc. I read up on how to get rid of malware and such, and I got Malwarebytes, SpyBot - search&destroy, and finally Avast! computer antivirus. After running scans with malwarebytes and Spybot, removing all the trojans and programs that were affected, I used ccleaner to clean the registry. Although I did all that, it seems like there is still something in my computer because spybot keeps scanning the same files over and over, and both Malwarebytes and Avast! keep saying that a malware threat had been stopped, while showing a URL that I never even connected to. Sometimes it even happends when internet explorer is off. what I really want to do is to restore my PC to the factory settings and start with a fresh NEW system. I'll make sure to get AVAST right away to insure security. As for backing up files, I'm afraid that the virus would somehow be in certain files and infect my computer again. Nothing really important that I'd lose. So I don't really mind so much to do a full factory reset.

Jan 4, 2012I'm fixing my sisters computer, It froze on her, when she tried to start it up again it went into some sort of system repair mode and after about 20hrs of this (no joke) it gave me the option to restore the computer to factory settings, it also gave me the option to install some sort of backup on the hard drive, however i tried this and it said there was no room on the hard drive (if i didn't know any better I'd say the problem was with the hard drive) i went ahead with the system recovery as it seemed to be the only way to fix the computer (i know i sound like an oaf) now the computer is showing me a screen which states that i need to insert my windows installation disc, however the laptop has no disc drive!

Nov 1, 2012I'm certain that this has been answered before but I am aware that for certain computers it can be quite different.My question is how do I restore my computer to factory settings? I have a Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H, I've looked all over the manual and still can not figure out exactly how. I always try to access my BIOS but there seems to be no recovery management on it. I have my Win7 reinstallation disc and Gigabyte Drivers installation disc if that helps.I'll reinstall windows if I have to, but only if it'll reset everything. I have a 60GB Boot Drive and a 1TB hard drive.

I want to restore the comp using the acer feature "restore to factory settings". But I wonder, must I have a Win7-installation CD after the restore?? Because the computer came with preinstalled Windows 7 when I bought it. Keep in mind that it's a factory settings restore not a complete format c (i think) I've done a backup on hardrive "D" of my current system in case of anything going wrong. If a Cd is required, could you tell me another way to format the comp without buying the CD? My security center is damaged, so restore to point doesnt work either. However when I try to restore my laptop to its factory settings, I get stuck. Upon booting up my computer I press f8 to get into the advanced boot menu. Dec 30, 2012So im looking to restore my PC to its factory settings so i saw from a video that says all i have to do is go to, Control panel->System and security->Backup And Restore->Recover system settings or your computer->Advanced recovery methods->Reinstall Windows (requires Winodows installation disc) so yeah, will this work? im pretty sure the disc i have that came with my comp is the right disc, on the disc it says"microsoft windows 7 Reinstallation DVD", Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
