I want to remove the Windows media player from the open with list. (When i right click on a video file i have a choice to choose a player,so i want to remove the Windows media player from that list)

I start my PC, the the list starts getting populated, but then after some time, it is empty again . . .
The same happens to recent items list . . .
I had the same problem with Vista, i even tried that registry fix, nothing solved for me
Suggestions to solve this ?
When I drag an icon from the taskbar to show its pinned list, the item where my cursor is, gets opened immediately, I remember pinned list used to stay there until I clicked any item, but now it automatically opens the selected item as soon as I stop holding click.

When I delete the browser icon it asks for an administrator login (which I have been given) I enter this and the icon is then deleted. However the icon keeps coming back! This seems to happen when I log back on or sometimes just after a few hours.

I cant open the network list or options, I've tried going through the control panel but when I press "connect to a network" it wont load. And when I try to click the icon on the bar it wont pop up either. The only way I can connect to the internet right now is through plugging it straight to the modem since i have it set to auto connect, but I cant connect to the WiFi since the list wont show. A menu item from a context menu frequently remains displayed after a mouse click. For instance I have a display that has the word 'Delete' on it. This display is on top of anything I type or try to read. That is why I had to put a carriage return after display above as I was unable to move anything so that the I could see what I was doing. The only way I have found to get rids of it is to reboot. Doesn't matter what program I am in. It happens when I click on a context menu item.
