I don't know in which section i should to post this but i'm having a little problem on my new windows 7 installation. it was a clean installation but upon finish, once i click on any file (shortcut or folder or file), the dialog box will pop-up asking to delete the file to recycle bin. btw the dialog will pop-up for many time, i'm tired enough to clicks NO on the dialog box..
View 6 RepliesToday I awoke to a notification from a HP Diagnostic Test. This is a monthly test done and it stated that a few items failed. Those being Random Seek Test, Funnel Seek Test, Surface Scan Test. I got a Seagate GoFlex Portable 1TB drive for Christmas and that was put into use since Christmas. It has been fully operational from the word go. That is, until today after HP did it's diagnostics. Also, the contents of my recycle bin are now hidden. If I delete something. Nothing is shown in the recycle bin, but it will let me delete and clear that hidden item. I'm not a fan of HP as I find them very intrusive and "evil." This PC is almost 2 years old and running Windows 7 64 bit OS.

Which means I'm in the process of doing something, in this particular instance, saving a file from the internet to my computer (using IE8), and the dialog box is completely lost amidst all the programmes I have running (like Adobe Acrobat, Word, and IE). This means I'm actually stuck and I have to close every single window one after another to find the elusive dialog box and complete the procedure (I tried going directly to "desktop", but it wasn't there).It never happened with XP, is there a setting I should tune or is this just a(nother) bug?

The message that "There is already a file with the same name in this location." Technically, however, this is not true. For example, "Audacity.exe" is not "Audacity (2)." I have configured my system to show all files.
I looked in the app's installation directory and also in the subfolders, under All Users's and also under my usernameAppDataRoaming, etc.
A menu item from a context menu frequently remains displayed after a mouse click. For instance I have a display that has the word 'Delete' on it. This display is on top of anything I type or try to read. That is why I had to put a carriage return after display above as I was unable to move anything so that the I could see what I was doing. The only way I have found to get rids of it is to reboot. Doesn't matter what program I am in. It happens when I click on a context menu item.
View 5 Replies View RelatedNew laptop with Windows 7 Pro 64 and I am transferring stuff over from the dying Windows 7 Starter netbook.On the netbook I had seven Shortcuts in the Startup Folder and they all launched fine at Boot up. I copied them to the Windows 7 Pro Startup and one of them does not run. I can double click the Shortcut manually and it launches fine, just not during the Boot up.The program is SpeedFan (SF). I have tried using various options in the Compatibility Tab for SF and I have UAC set to Off for Admin boots. Nothing allows SF to launch during the Boot up.

The system is a windows 7, 64 bit, home version, everything stock. I have cleaned out the system free from viruses and other malicious codes that could have been lurking around there. Installed avast and mbam with spybot on reserve. Everything works, until this happens. The only way that we can make the dialog box fix is to change the display settings and then apply the settings. Later on after answering the question or downloading a file, change the settings back.

The window will go unfocused for a second but the dialog box never appears. This has only been happening with certain programs such as Microsoft Office, Steam, and Musenotes (Although there are many others too) while other programs such as notepad are working completely fine.All of the solutions I've found either have to do with AutoCad (Which I don't have) or the dialog box simply appearing off screen (None of the solutions work)
