I have bought a new computer with Windows 7 Premium Home 64-bit OS pre-installed. I made the mistake of specifying my keyboard type as US during the initial setup. I need to change it to Japanese type. I followed the steps mentioned in documentation to select the desired keyboard type after clicking the Change Keyboard button on the Keyboard Settings window. But it did not work. I am unable to enter Japanese text through my keyboard.
When I type in Word 2010, frequently my keyboard will refuse to type. It will type a couple letters and then I have to wait to get it to go on. Then it will type a few more, etc. Another time it will type without an issue.I have changed the battery.

The battery died when I was typing. When I got it plugged in and it came back up my keyboard would not work. Are there hot keys or short cut keys that could have been pressed as the power went out that could cause this problem?
I figured out how to do the French characters such as or , but i can't figure out the shortcuts for things such as or , even though the keyboard has buttons for them.

Connecting to my Access Point (WEP, Shared Key) works fine, but the network type becomes PUBLIC in the Network and Sharing Center and I cannot change it, it is read only there! My computer is not part of a domain but a member of a workgroup.
I need to change the network type for the above WiFi connection to WORK/HoME.

My account was an administrator account, but since I made a Guest account then my admin account has been restricted as well and I cannot change the security settings nor through safe mode, nor built-in admin account and nor using netplwiz. There all always some files or folders that are not accessible. Unfortunately they are a lot. Also I tried everything while I removed the guest account but the problem still persist.
So I'm trying to change the icon of a particular file type. i.e., pdf icon is gone for some reason so I want to put one there. All i can find on the net is 'open up file types manager' but how it will be done? I am using Windows 7 x64 home premium.
I have two network cards in my PC. A wireless and an ethernet card. The wireless connection is identified as a public network and I can change it.
My ethernet card is connected to another PC and I've got the two of them connected directly to each other...no routers or anything. I am unable to change the network type and it is stuck on Public Network. Is there anyway to fix this?

I had 3 drives. my windows7 was installed on drive C. And I had 130GB unallocated space. I wanted to make new drive in this space with Minitool Partition Wizard.I read in mintool site that you can only have 3 primary drives. My E Drive was not important for me and I convert it to a logical drive and made a restart.Buuuut after restart my Windows 7 wont boot. Now I have fedora 15 and I see that all my drives and files are ok.
After doing some Googling I discovered that it is impossible in Windows 7 to sort files by file extension -- one can only sort by file type, which depends on the file type description. This means that if I want to sort by file type, I need to rename the type descriptions of all my most commonly used files.
In addition, the only place where I can see a file's extension is in the file name itself, and not e.g. in the status bar when a file is selected. In Windows 7, the file type description (not the file extension) is also in the status bar.
In other words, in Windows 7 all files labelled e.g. "Opera Web Document" are sorted as if they have the same file type, regardless of whether they are .html, .htm, .mht, etc. And if I select a file and look at the status bar, the file's type is indicated as "Opera Web Document", without any clue as to the file extension. The only way for me to see the file extension is to increase the width of the "Name" column until the end of the file name becomes visible. So... my question is:
Is there an easy way to simply rename the file type descriptions? I see that my JPG files are named "JPG File" and my PNG files are named "PNG" file, which is extremely useful. What I now want is to rename my HTML, HTM and MHT files' file types to "HTML File", "HTM File" and "MHT File", and the same would apply to all file types I often use (e.g. DOC, DOCX, XLS, XML, TXT, etc).
I was wondering if it is possible or particularily unadvisable to change my laptop keyboard to one by a different manufacturer? I've recently got a new laptop (Acer Aspire 5742G) and all is grand, except for the fact that I can't stand having a keyboard with a numpad. The arrow keys are too small and the Fn + whatever keys are all in places I don't like. This isn't a big problem or anything, I'm just curious to know if anyone has done it.
