I have bought a new computer with Windows 7 Premium Home 64-bit OS pre-installed. I made the mistake of specifying my keyboard type as US during the initial setup. I need to change it to Japanese type. I followed the steps mentioned in documentation to select the desired keyboard type after clicking the Change Keyboard button on the Keyboard Settings window. But it did not work. I am unable to enter Japanese text through my keyboard.

My account was an administrator account, but since I made a Guest account then my admin account has been restricted as well and I cannot change the security settings nor through safe mode, nor built-in admin account and nor using netplwiz. There all always some files or folders that are not accessible. Unfortunately they are a lot. Also I tried everything while I removed the guest account but the problem still persist.

My ethernet card is connected to another PC and I've got the two of them connected directly to each other...no routers or anything. I am unable to change the network type and it is stuck on Public Network. Is there anyway to fix this?

View 0 Replies View RelatedI had 3 drives. my windows7 was installed on drive C. And I had 130GB unallocated space. I wanted to make new drive in this space with Minitool Partition Wizard.I read in mintool site that you can only have 3 primary drives. My E Drive was not important for me and I convert it to a logical drive and made a restart.Buuuut after restart my Windows 7 wont boot. Now I have fedora 15 and I see that all my drives and files are ok.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to Window 7 Home 64x from vista ultimate 32x. I also installed 8gb of RAM. I downloaded all the drivers/updates and everything was fine. Then, I entered in a System Password and an admin password in the set up menu since this hasnt been done previously.
Once I rebooted, it started its normal boot process but then brought me to a white screen that asked for the system or admin password. The problem is, there is no spot to enter the password. I typed it anyway and hit enter and I got "invalid password. hit enter to try again".No letters, or numbers are visible, but i know the keyboard works because it recognized the enter key. After three attempts, it says "hit enter to abort", and then it shuts down.
It wont recognize f2 or f12 when I first turn it on, so right now I cannot access anything. Just that white password screen. I have also tried a usb keyboard. Dell Inspiron 1545
When I type in Word 2010, frequently my keyboard will refuse to type. It will type a couple letters and then I have to wait to get it to go on. Then it will type a few more, etc. Another time it will type without an issue.I have changed the battery.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter doing some Googling I discovered that it is impossible in Windows 7 to sort files by file extension -- one can only sort by file type, which depends on the file type description. This means that if I want to sort by file type, I need to rename the type descriptions of all my most commonly used files.
In addition, the only place where I can see a file's extension is in the file name itself, and not e.g. in the status bar when a file is selected. In Windows 7, the file type description (not the file extension) is also in the status bar.
In other words, in Windows 7 all files labelled e.g. "Opera Web Document" are sorted as if they have the same file type, regardless of whether they are .html, .htm, .mht, etc. And if I select a file and look at the status bar, the file's type is indicated as "Opera Web Document", without any clue as to the file extension. The only way for me to see the file extension is to increase the width of the "Name" column until the end of the file name becomes visible.
So... my question is:
Is there an easy way to simply rename the file type descriptions? I see that my JPG files are named "JPG File" and my PNG files are named "PNG" file, which is extremely useful. What I now want is to rename my HTML, HTM and MHT files' file types to "HTML File", "HTM File" and "MHT File", and the same would apply to all file types I often use (e.g. DOC, DOCX, XLS, XML, TXT, etc).
I found a few pix in my files that I want to edit with Photoshop. I can't open them in PS because they are Type 1 or Type 2. When I try to open them, PS says they are .jpg.1 or. jpg.2. How do I get rid of the .1 and .2 so they become normal JPG photo files?I can look at them with Windows Photo Viewer but I can't figure out how to convert them to normal JPG files.

I tried changing the username and the computer name but it still shows files with my name attached to them. Call me over protective but I was taught when I first started using computers that you should not have your name attached to them. I don't want someone hacking into my computer and knowing anything about me. It pains me to see my name right in front of my face knowing someone could use it in some way. When I search my name in the search box it brings up a folder with a Lock on it. Inside the folder is a group of folders. These folders say things such as contacts, desktop, downloads, favorites, links, my documents, my music, my pictures, my videos, saved games, searches
