View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been running disk and system maintenance on my computer, and sfc found some corruption it couldn't repair. It looks like it's .NET framework 4 that has the errors, so I uninstalled it and its updates, then reinstalled it and updated it, but the problem remains. Since that didn't solve it, I'm not sure if that's where the problem is or what to do about it. Anyone know which files I need to look at before I resort to doing an upgrade/repair installation?

I currently have a workgroup set up with a server (running Server 2008) and 4 identical (literally) computers. Each computer has certain shared files. There is no problem seeing or accessing the files on these computers.I am trying to add a fifth computer to the workgroup. I have added the new computer and can see the other 4 computers. However, every time I try to access any of the other 4 computers on the workgroup, I am asked for my network username and password. It doesn't matter what I put for the username and password - nothing works. It continues to say "Logon failure: unknown username or bad password".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed a new all-in-one printer (Epson Artisan 837) and it is working just fine including its faxing ability. When I look in the "Devices & Printers", I see something called "Fax" and it says "Microsoft shared fax driver". What is this and is this something I need or can it just be deleted? There is another item listed called "Microsoft XPS Document Writer". Same questions for this one??
And I am now getting a dialog box that shows up each time I boot. The header says "FAX Utility" and the text says, "There is a problem with the parameters for the database library". Is this coming from the new fax driver for the Epson (I don't think so since it is working perfectly) or from the Microsoft driver, whatever that is??

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wife has a new laptop running Windows 7 and has migrated from Xp (which she loved) I have transferred most of her files and she now has a problem. Before on the xp laptop she used to work with Microsoft works Suite 2001that ran Microsoft Works 6.0 and mainly the Picture It part of the suite using the Picture It, Publishing 2001 Set up Design and Art.She still likes this prog as she is very comfortable with it and it does just what she wants it to do. The problem was that when she went to open one of her files it was a php file and tho she has got Office 2007 on her new pc it will not open the file. I tried to install the worksuite 2001 onto the new pc from the original discs that we have and after a while an error comes up unable to load dll file ?? Does this mean it is not compatible and if so can anyone reccomend a (free if possible) program that we can use to open/use the php files

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to uninstall/reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2005-2008-2010 but a window pops up saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." "Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'vcredist' in the box below." I went to my C:UsersLarAppDataLocalTempIXP001.TMP but it didn't work all it says is "The file 'C:UsersLarAppDataLocalTempIXP001.TMP' is not a valid installation package for the product Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. Try to find the installation package 'vcredist.msi' in a folder from which you can install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable." Mind you it does this for any version I try to uninstall So I rebooted and tried again but the Temp folder wasn't there which was to be expected but now I can't find any vcredist.msi on my computer and it does the same thing in safe mode

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Home network that was configured as follows:
Computers:
XP-Pro PC - connected via USB to a - Shared Photo Printer
Mac Leopard - connected via USB to a -Shared All-in-One Printer
XP-Pro Laptop
I also have an Ethernet networked Laser Printer and an Ethernet networked NAS.
With this setup I could print on all three printers from all three computers. I stored all documents, photos, music, etc on the NAS and it could be accessed very quickly from all three computers.
I replaced the XP-Pro PC with a new Win 7 PC. Now I cannot see the Shared All-in-One that is connected to the Mac via USB. I cannot get into the Mac from the Win 7 machine without an ID and Password which I never set and do not have. I can still print on the Mac-attached printer and get into the Mac from the XP-Pro laptop.
Can anyone help me to be able to access the Mac and to use the Mac-attached shared printer from the Win 7 machine?

I'm having a hell of a time trying to connect to my shared folders on my Win 7 RC machine from my XP machine. I have my shared folder permissions set to 'full control' for 'everyone'.On my XP machine I click to open my win 7 machine from the workgroup and I get the username/password screen. The username is already filled in like this: WIN7PCjohn. I type my win 7 password for john user account and I get an error that says: \win7pc not accesible. You might not have permission to use this network resource ... multiple connections to a server by same user ... etc.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded all of my computers to Windows 7 Professional and Office 2010 Professional Plus, and they're all running great. Much faster than the previous configuration, Windows XP Professional SP3 w/Office 2003 Standard. I'm using one computer to store all of the file backups and share the printer, a Dell Photo AIO 924. Everything's working fine, except for the printer. The printer prints from the computer its directly connected to, and I have it shared. However, when I try to connect other computers to it, I get an unable to connect to printer error with code 0x06. I checked a couple of things, Print Spooler service is running, network passwords are disabled, and all computers are in the same workgroup. I've gotten this to work before, but that was a while ago when I was running Windows 7 Enterprise trial on the same computer, everything worked great

However, the odd thing, to me anyway, is if I use Explorer and type the Desktop address I can access the folders.

BUT, the minute I open network and/or network sharing on the windows 7 computer I lose my internetconnection on both computers and have to go through a shut down of the Windows 7 computer and unplug the cable modem and the router and restart everything. You can't get to shared folders without going through network. If you do you have to restart everything to get back internet connection.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Professional x64.My pictures are located in this folder: L:Users<name>My Pictures
I want to share this folder with another user on my computer. Can't do it.
Simply altering the folder's permissions doesn't work. If I change permissions so that the folder in question does not inherit any permissions from parent folders, and instead allow my user read-only access to the folder...access denied.
Alright then, I tried to share the folder with my user. Although sharing usually means sharing with other computers on a network, it also applies to other users on the same machine. But the user can't access the shared folder...access denied.
I could move the folder in question to the Public user, but then everyone can see it. Holy cow...what does it take to share a folder with another user on the same computer?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOk has anyone experienced this, I have 3 drives shared from windows 7 RTM, to windows 7 7100. everytrhing works ok ubtil I try to move, copy a file from one system to another. This makes my windows 7 rtm version loose it's network connection completely, I have to run the diagnose wizard and then it's ok. I can see and browser the folders for a week no problems.
As soon as I try to copy or move a file over the network I kills my network connection only on the windows 7 rtm system. All the other computers in the house are ok. I have one system running linux and 4 others running the windows 7 7100 build that can share and get online with out any issue's. Please let me know if you have experienced this.
I have Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate 64-bit that struggles along to see the shared resources of other computers on the LAN even if the "Network discovery" and "Files and Printers Sharing" options of the "Advanced sharing settings" applet are enabled. In other words, if I click on Network in Windows Explorer, no computer on the LAN is displayed; whereas, if I write "\<ComputerName>" in the address bar, I can see with difficulty its shared resources.
This fact is in each account. I have no firewall active, I use the network of type "Work" and I do not use the homegroup feature. The operating systems on the target computers are Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate 64-bit and Windows XP Pro SP3. The computers have the same time. How can I check whether the SMB protocol is working properly?
