Tonight discovered that my homegroup randomly and suddenly ceased to work, after working previously with no problems. After hours spent of my life I'm able to now leave the homegroup and start a new one, however I have a problem that continues to exist. On the Change Homegroup Settings page, underneath where it says "Share libraries and printers", I select ALL boxes (Pictures, Music, Videos, Printers, Documents), and hit "Save Changes" at the bottom - yet the changes are never saved. It's as if I've never selected them. The screen immediately exits me out after I hit "Save Changes", and when I re-enter the screen, all the boxes except "Printer" are blank again. This is the screen I'm referring to
How can I add a folder on a network share to my library? I get an error saying that the network share needs to be indexed. But I can't find a way to turn this on.
I'm on a domain, and I have my home drive (H, and I want the folder inside called Documents added to my library (and then set as default save location).
Environment: Desktop : Windows 7 Ultimate Laptop1 : Windows 7 Home Laptop2 : Windows 7 Ultimate
Laptop1 can view and access the libraries on the Desktop. Laptop2 can see the libraries on the Desktop but can not access the folders. I'm not sure what to do here, I've triple checked that libraries are shared on the Home Group.
Is there any way to cache the contents so it only spins up the drive when the actual movie title is picked on a certain drive, and only spins up that drive to play the movie?
So if Transformers was on disk 3 all i want to spin up is disk3 but i still want to be able to see whats on all 7 drives.
I have no idea why microsoft does such simple things through the ass, maybe to make people go crazy. Here's the problem:
I have wifi network setup, homegroup with my blueray dvd player, xbox 360, 3 other computers (all windows 7). on homegroup options, I check marked all options, video, music, docs etc to be shared, and also to be streamed.
I made 3-4 folders in my drive (f) to put all my stuff in there that I wanted to share, but when I right click either of the folders and go to "share with" they all are set to "nobody" and when I click "sharewith homegroup" at buttom of screen something blinks as if another screen opened for a second- but nothing changes, it stayes on "nobody". Nothing fixed this. Not replacing securities, not remaking homegroup, I mean i've tried 100 different things and nothing seems to work.
Funny thing, on my xbox/dvd player - 2 of these folders are visable and I can play files in them, although they are both set to "nobody" as well. But others aren't.
I have started a homegroup on my PC but I can`t see anything on my laptop to join to, Is there any thing I`m Missing ? I`m Using an ADSL modem-router And I can ping both computers from each other. also I`m Using nod32 as my antivirous-firewall and I even tried creating a homegroup when the firewall was disabled but it didn`t work.
I have a 128GB SSD for booting and games and a 1tb hard drive for storage. Because my OS is on my boot drive, the location for my videos folder is on the boot drive and I don't want to store my movies on my boot drive because of space constraints. I'm using homegroup to stream movies to my mother's computer. Is there any way I can stream videos from a folder in my storage drive or any alternative method for changing the root destination of the videos folder in my C drive?
I'm going to re-build my PCand would love to save all my settings, can I just copy the registry use it after I re-build,or is there another way to save all my system settings?
Every time I start my computer (running 64but Win 7 pro) I have to go to the Sound devices and change the settings. The do not save when windows shut down. What can I do?
I just recieved a brand new gaming computer the other day with windows 7 64bit. I downloaded world of warcraft and everything went well, I was able to play and all, shut down my computer, but then when I turned my computer back on world of warcraft was gone for some reason, and I dont know what to do now. Is their any way to get my world of warcraft client back? also is there any way to make sure windows 7 saves everything when it shuts down? because it also didn't save my preferences for my desktop either.
My specs AMD Phenom II Quad Core CPU 4GB RAM ATI RADEON 5570 500gb HD
PS: i JUST switched from mac to pc, and I haven't used a pc in 5 years.
i have purchased a laptop Asus k53sd , i m trying to connect my nokia n70 to my laptop but my laptop is discovering my phone and doing changes in setting from bluetooth is shows me error an error occurred while saving your settings
have 1 computer operating 7 ultimate and 1 operating home premium cannot connect to the laptop under home premium. On the laptop when i go into change homegroup settings all boxes except printers are un-ticked. When I tick all the boxes then 'save changes' all seems ok until I go into change homegroup settings again I find all the boxes except printers are un-ticked again. I can't seem to keep these boxes ticked - I suspect this is why I cant access the laptop within the homegroup.
Two build 7000 machines in my homegroup... One works fine and I can check/uncheck media to share in the homegroup. The laptop, however, is a different story. When I check a library to share in a home group (pictures, videos, music, etc) then click "save changes" nothing changes. When I can back into my homegroup settings, there are no check marks.
My Windows 7 Home Premium Homegroup is not accepting my settings (stuck on its own settings). I'm able to go to my Homegroup settings and CHECK the boxes for sharing video, pictures, doc.s, and music yet, When I Click save changes, it closes-out the window and when I view Settings once more.. they remain the same as before I changed them (stuck on only "Printers"). This goes for other HomeGroup Settings as well. I'v stopped and started the HomeGroup Services "Listener" and "Provider", but the Strange thing is that it is sharing those files in My HomeGroup.. just not realizing it is.. or sumthin?? Also tried Leaving HomeGroup, Rebooted, and Joined. idk, but more than likely has to do w/ the Home Premium version.. because the Ultimate edition is able to see this Home Premium Laptop as if I had my settings changed to share and stream music, etc.. the Home Premium can't see the Ultimate edition in the HomeGroup
I am a dummy when it comes to networking. However, I have successfully setup homegroup with 4 computers with a shared printer at my boss's office.I also have a workstation and 2 laptops running Windows 7 Pro SP1 that I would like to send faxes with. What I want to do is to install a 56k fax/modem (PCI or USB?) on the workstation and share the fax with the 2 laptops. Is fax sharing possible through homegroup? If not how can I share the fax with the 2 other laptops
I installed Windows 7 on my laptop, and I also have a desktop running Windows 7. I am trying to connect my laptop to my homegroup with the password for my homegroup, but my desktop will not reveal it. Is there any other place that I can find it?
I open a file sent to me in email, click enable editing, work on it for three hours, hitting save all the while, then go to email it back and the file is gone. It isn't in my documents where I saved it, and it isn't under recent files. I am sure you can relate to the feeling of losing something you have worked hard on and I feel
I have an issue which I can't find anything obvious on.I have 4 Windows 7 machines, 1 x W7 Pro, 2 x W7 Home Premium & 1 x W7 Starter all in the same Homegroup. The W7 Pro machine can see all the others under Homegroup in Windows ExplorerAll 3 of the others can see each other in the same way but the W7 Pro machine isn't listedThe 3 others can access the Shares on the W7 Pro Machine by going to Network rather than Homegroup in Windows Explorer.
We recently installed Yahoo messenger and suddenly the Library folder isn't showing any folders/files under the Administrator account. When I go to create a new Library it reads the following error message: "Unable to create the new file 'New Library.library-ms' File System Error: (16389)." Not only is the library no longer accessible, but I cannot access any of the Music, Pictures or Documents from the Start Menu.I am only able to access the folders using the search bar by selecting "User Name" from the drop down box, then suddenly everything's there. It will not allow me to drag/drop anything into the Library folder or even create a new one.
Now, just 3 days ago It started the BSOD issue.I realize that my GPU was the cause of this issue. When playing games or open 3d applications the temp goes 30C to 72C (In 15 seconds) then 82C - 85C constant (in about 30 seconds). Now I've been using MSI afterburner to check my temps and at fulload my GPU will be at 62-72C max temperature but now it's 10C even higher then before. No, I haven't fiddled with the voltage I set the GPU voltage to 1.037v which is the safest (been running this almost 8 months!). The GPU is the GTX 560ti.Is there a way to set the GPU on default settings or reset GPU settings in cmd or other professional way. I have uninstalled the drivers, uninstalling GPU, disabled GPU, disabled PCI-E slot and so on by using device manager and the issue still persist. Yes, I also have clean the GPU perfectly and still the temperature goes up to 82 seconds at 30seconds-45seconds. Yes, I have checked everything is set correctly and so on, I am a PC Tech.
Is the GPU damaged? Yes I have looked at this thread: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Mainly, I know its the GPU straight away, I tried checking old drivers, new drivers, another GPU overclocked software such as GPU tweak and EVGA Precision. I am thinking it's the GPU is damaged or the PCI-E is damaged (I have another PCI-E slot on my system and the issue still there). It might be the PCI-E frequency? but it's set to 100 which it meant to be, I just hope is software related because I don't have the money to buy a new card. Did the dump files help?
I don't want the library there on my desktop. I don't want it there anywhere. I like all my folders laid out in plain sight on the desktop, not shelved on some library shelf.
Windows 7 now incorporate Librarys as a way of sorting ur stufff instead of designated Folders. Well I always Renamed my libraries (from Beta to RC to now Win 7 Pro) with no probs at all.Tll just now. I discovered all my libraries have "fixed" them selves to the default naming (music, Videos, Documents...you get the pic ). Any further changes to the library name does not work at all. However if i were to change the library name to anything other than the desired library name, it would change without a hitch. just what is going on here? It jut recovered from another prob, that was Chckdsk not starting (it would get stuck at 1 second) now my question is these problems interelated, and if so do i really have to reinstall My copy of windows 7 ?(please don't tell me i have to. D=)
Where are the REAL picutes you download stored? I'm confused about the library.. I download a set of pics and the file is named the date. Then when I have time, I have tried to go in and set up folders, by year 2011, Month, or activity such as folder named 'Holiday's that would be in the 2011 folder... when I move the pis to a newly created folder to organize them all, it freaks out and gives me some error message! It seems then the pictures are lost or unaccesable because they were moved. Am I not allowed to touch these, and orgainze once downloaded? those that undestand where I am coming from and can tell me how it work and what to do.
I have a security question about the "Include in Library" function. I have 2-1 tearbite hard drives in my desktop . The OP is on C drive , and the second drive is in 2 partitions E and F . I save all my important stuff on E and back up E on F. If I use the Library function and shortcut a file from E to startup on C wouldn't it create a way for a hacker or a virus to get into E drive? I hope I explained this right.
I'm running Windows 7. When I "right click, save" pics from the web, they oftentimes show up as a flat colored line. In the folder they've been saved in, the thumbnail looks normal, but when you open it, it's a mess. Or the picture is compressed to the point it no longer resembles the original photo.
I have an HP Pavilion PC, Windows 7, 1 yr old. It has never recognized the presence of a blank writable disc in the disc drive. When trying to save any type of file, it gives a "no disc in drive - insert a disc" message, even when a new writable disc has been inserted.
