Won't Let To Share Files In Homegroup

Jan 26, 2011

I have no idea why microsoft does such simple things through the ass, maybe to make people go crazy. Here's the problem:

I have wifi network setup, homegroup with my blueray dvd player, xbox 360, 3 other computers (all windows 7). on homegroup options, I check marked all options, video, music, docs etc to be shared, and also to be streamed.

I made 3-4 folders in my drive (f) to put all my stuff in there that I wanted to share, but when I right click either of the folders and go to "share with" they all are set to "nobody" and when I click "sharewith homegroup" at buttom of screen something blinks as if another screen opened for a second- but nothing changes, it stayes on "nobody". Nothing fixed this. Not replacing securities, not remaking homegroup, I mean i've tried 100 different things and nothing seems to work.

Funny thing, on my xbox/dvd player - 2 of these folders are visable and I can play files in them, although they are both set to "nobody" as well. But others aren't.

Homegroup Library Share Settings NOT Saving?

Feb 16, 2011

Tonight discovered that my homegroup randomly and suddenly ceased to work, after working previously with no problems. After hours spent of my life I'm able to now leave the homegroup and start a new one, however I have a problem that continues to exist. On the Change Homegroup Settings page, underneath where it says "Share libraries and printers", I select ALL boxes (Pictures, Music, Videos, Printers, Documents), and hit "Save Changes" at the bottom - yet the changes are never saved. It's as if I've never selected them. The screen immediately exits me out after I hit "Save Changes", and when I re-enter the screen, all the boxes except "Printer" are blank again. This is the screen I'm referring to

Homegroup Sharing : Share Files From Other Drive?

I have a 128GB SSD for booting and games and a 1tb hard drive for storage. Because my OS is on my boot drive, the location for my videos folder is on the boot drive and I don't want to store my movies on my boot drive because of space constraints. I'm using homegroup to stream movies to my mother's computer. Is there any way I can stream videos from a folder in my storage drive or any alternative method for changing the root destination of the videos folder in my C drive?

Unable To Join Homegroup

Nov 20, 2011

i have recently got a brand new machine and have updated from windows xp to windows 7. I have been trying to join the homegroup set up on my parents computer so i can access the printer. My computer is connected to my wired router before going into a ethernet connector in my wall and that then joins the modem. I am using norton internet security and so is my parents computer.

When my computer is plugged into the router and i go into 'trust control' in norton, my router shows up as full trust, but no other computers show up and when i try joining homegroups none show up. But when i plug my computer into the wall bypassing my router, norton shows all the computers on the network and lets me join the homegroup. So to summarise, i cant join homegroups when i am connected to my router, but i can join when i dont use the router.

Edit:
My router is a: Netgear WGR614v9

Unable To Join Homegroup?

Aug 19, 2011

I used to have a homegroup set up on computer B, but then i decided to host the homegroup from computer A (my most recent build) because computer A is running more often than any other computer now. So I set it up on computer A and set a password (I know they have to be case-sensitive). When I tried to get computer B to join the homegroup it said the password was incorrect. I know that this isn't the case. Computer C, D, etc. can join homegroup A, but computer B is being stubborn, and can no longer join other homegroups, or have other computers join its homegroup.

So I tried setting up a homegroup on computer B and seeing if computer A could join. Same problem occurred, incorrect password.

HomeGroup Printers

Jul 15, 2009

i have a pc (Windows 7 build 7100) that is connected to two printers (of which one prints (HP laserjet CP1215) and one only scans (no ink)) and it shares those printer.

My Windows 7 build 7600 (on my main pc) added the scan-printer without asking me and didn't add the other one (the only one I can print). I then disconnected this one from the other pc and looked again, no install here.

While I used build 7100 with my main pc too, it asked me: "Do you want to install HomeGroup printer?" and it worked like a charm.

Now I tried to manually add this printer and it asked me for a driver.

I installed the HP drivers but still, not working. Then, when it asked me again to point to the .inf file, i selected the one HP-driver-installation installed (to my C:Program files folder) but it said this driver is from a "non-certified" publisher (or something like this, sadly I can't reproduce this so I don't remember the exact words).

I clicked "install nonetheless" because I knew it was the right driver (printer prints perfectly from all other Windows 7 workstations).

Now when I try to connect to the printer (still not showing up in "Devices and printers" it tries to connect, looks for a driver, kinda finds one and then tells me, it can't connect.

I cannot even select a new driver or anything, I can only close the window.

On all my other pcs (I only use Windows 7 since the RC) it works and worked without problems. I miss the "Install Homegroup printer" prompt and well ...

any ideas?

ah well i installed 32bit versions of the driver and now i downloaded 64bit versions, but even after installing it doesn't work and as I've said before, I cannot manually select a driver inf file anymore, so ... I can't install the printer.

Cannot Connect To Homegroup

Jul 29, 2011

I have a laptop, HTPC, and a desktop, all connected to my internet wirelessly. All of the systems were connected to the homegroup perfectly last night, but then I started having problem this morning. The HTPC was connected to the homegroup, but unable to detect any of the computers. Same with the rest of them. So I left the homegroup from the HTPC thinking I could just reconnect. Big mistake. After that the only option that was available to me was to "create a new group". After many restarts and settings, I decided to create a new homegroup. I then left the original homegroup from my laptop, so that I could join the new homegroup, but alas, the same thing happens, I could not see the old homegroup from the desktop, or the new homegroup from the HTPC! The only option available to to create another new homegroup! I did the same thing again with my desktop, and now all three machines each on its own homegroup.

Homegroup On Windows 7?

I was setting up a Homegroup on my friends Windows 7 network. A printer was connected via USB to one computer, and shared on the Homegroup. Printing was fine from the computer the printer was attached to, but when any of the other 3 computers tried to print to it, the document went into the printer queue, and then never printed, just sat in the queue. I tried for a hour or so, re-installing drivers, the homegroup, etc. I finally deleted the homegroup, shared the printer in the traditional manner, and it worked fine.
