The oddness began after I managed to get the laptop to access the desktop via Start > Run > \desktop, successfully connected up the printer via filesharing and tested it, but every time I restart the laptop it decides that it can't find the desktop any more.

I am not able to remove it from Add/Remove programs, have read through some help info and attempted to use the Windows Fixit, Revo & Ripoutoffice2007, none of which have removed it (Revo didn't take it out and then pulled up a million 'left over' files, none of which I deleted).

Unable To Setup Share Printer In Windows 7
May 3, 2012I have two windows 7 computers. computer-A is connecting EPSON printer and I have enabled the file and printer sharing function. The file sharing function is working fine. Then I tried to add the printer in control panel on computer-B, it sees the epson printer but when I try to install the driver (download from computer-A) then it say unable to connect. I have try it on different computer-C it is saying the same thing. What should I do?
I have installed the EPSON driver in computer-B (hoping it would work)but still after the install the driver (download from computer-A) by itself then it says unable to connect the printer.
I have setup all the computers with the group name of WORKFROUP. You may wonder why I don't use the Windows 7 Homegroup, it is because I have some XP computers need to use that computer-A's printer. how to make the printer sharing works. [URL]

Feb 12, 2012Have recently bought a Cobra CIR 1000A internet radio that works fine connecting wirelessly for radio stations. Problem 1 is in the instruction booklet it explains how to setup Media Sharing and PlayMusic on the Internet radio for WMP 11 . No mention of WMP 12 which I have installed. Radio has latest software installed.WMP 12 reports no media devices found. The fact the radio plays stations ok is proof enough that my network sees it all right.I have enabled and disabled everything and am now at a loss to how to fix it.Am thinking of replacing WMP 12 with WMP 11 but am obviously using Windows7

Can Access File Share By Ip But Not By Name
Sep 23, 2010Our network runs on a 2008 active directory domain, and our domain controller also is an internal DNS server; we have an additional server that is our internal web server and hosts a RAID 1 mirrored file share for everyone to put their data (which we have folder redirection configured on for the My Documents folder, and people also access it as a mapped network drive). It all works flawlessly, except on two client computers.
1. The two clients can ping the file server both by name and IP.
2. Clients can can log into the file server by remote desktop, by name.
3. Nslookup shows that the clients can communicate with the DNS server and resolve the domain name to the correct IP address.
4. Clients can access the internal sites at http://<file server>
5. Clients cannot access the file share at \<file server>, but can access it at \192.168.1.104.
6. I have already flushed the DNS cache on the client machines.
Its really odd, because it would seem like this is a DNS issue but everything else works: http dns works, nslookup works, and I already flushed the DNS cache. These are the only computers having any issues at all. All the computers on the network have their dns server manually assigned, and all the servers have a DHCP reservation so their IP wont change.

I've been trying to work with a 'home' network on Windows 7, and with firewalls down on both PCs. I do not have a homegroup setup on my Windows 7 box. Both OSs are fully patched. I shared my "Desktop folder" with everyone. When I open up the group "Workgroup" on my XP machine, I can see my Windows 7 computer and my XP computer, but I cannot access it. I cannot see my XP on my Windows 7. Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder was already on my XP machine (tried to DL it from the link and install, but my PC told me I already had a more recent version of it), I've set up advanced sharing and disabled password sharing on Windows 7, I've enabled "Microsoft network client: Send unencrypted password to third-party SMB servers", and enabled all sorts of virtual access to my Windows 7 and XP. Nothing has worked.
Can someone help me out?
I am not ashamed to admit that if I have to be walked through it from the beginning, I'll take it. I just want to be able to pull files from my Desktop to my Laptop, and vice versa.

Aug 11, 2009Im using Windows 7 build 7600.
I have a windows server 2003 file server and a windows 2003 SBS domain controler. The file server is a member server. My windows 7 client is joined to the domain. When i log on to the domain, a script runs that maps drives from the file server to my comp. My domain account has Full Control over the drives on the file server.
Since installing windows 7 each time i open an mp3 file (Which are between 10 and 20mb) from the maped network drive, its taking 8 seconds to open each one. Baring in mind i have a GB lan with both my laptop network card and server network card set to 1gbps full duplex. I have a LOT of mp3 files that i browse through, but every time i select a differnt track it takes 8 seconds for it to open, same for the next track and the one after that and its begining to drive me nuts . Ive tried using differnt media players, for example winamp, media monkey, itunes and wmp and with each one i get exactly the same 8 seconds per music file.
This does not happen with one of my xp machines both over wirelesss and hardwired in to the lan, tracks open instantly from one to the other. After messing about with it for a while i stumbled accross something. If i map directly to shares on the network drive (which is set to read only) the tracks open instantly from one to the next no problem. However, if i set the share permission to “full control”, i get exactly the same problem, 8 seconds per music file.
And i REEEEEEALLY dont know why its doing it. As ive said it works fine on windows xp, i have a gb lan with both cards set to 1gb full duplex (have even tried auto negociate ) and cat5 e cabling via a D-Link GB Switch. The only thing that seems to fix it is setting the share on the file server to read only. Now i could just play the tracks via the share and be done with it but, the shares are set to read only for a good reason. I have the network drive (where the shares live) maped to my computer because im always adding to, and manipulating folders on the drive, including the mp3 files. As a work around im having to play the tracks via the actual share and modifly or delete any mp3 files via the maped network drive.

Jun 18, 2011Cloned the 2 hdds to the single using Norton Ghost. It works fine and the PC boots no problem - but only if the bios (Asus) is set to 'configure sata as RAID'. If I change to 'configure sata as IDE' it won't boot (bsod during windows loading screen).
The PC clearly thinks the new, single hdd is still a raid system - which presumably could cause problems when I upgrade the mobo. I have tried Windows 7 repair, fixmbr, fixboot, rebuild bcd... none of it makes any difference!

Feb 25, 2012For quite some time I have been unable to to eject any USB/external hard drive devices that I have plugged into my computer. Using Process Explorer I've looked at the processes that are interfering with being to be able to eject devices.
Even if I do not have any files or programs open from that device, each one will have two explorer.exe processes running. However when I use find handle with Process Explorer on my main external hard drive there are these several processes running.
