HMDI 5.1 Sound Through TV & Receiver
Mar 2, 2012
Laptop connected to TV through HDMI.TV connected to receiver through optical cable. It has always worked this way, I always had surround sound and all. Yesterday my mother disconnected both the HDMI & optical cables for freaking reason, now that I connected them back on, I'm only getting 2.0 sound through my receiver. I don't know what to try next, this has been an issue before but I always somehow managed to fix it but now it really gets the better of me.I was so planning on watching a few movies tonight but without my surround sound, I be better off to bed.

performed a search and couldn't find this, but i am trying to connect a new second monitor via dvi d dual link cable, however i get an error message that ccc cannot support two monitors from different graphic engines, the other monitor is connected via hmdi.
i was under the impression that dvi d and hmdi would work together from the graphics card, but this appears not to be the case. I can have them both running via hmdi/dvi i or dvi d and dvi i but not hmdi dvi d.

I have read through the forum, but I do not think that anyone has encountered the same problem that I have. I have a Yamaha RX-V2065 AV receiver that is connected wirelessly to my laptop, a Sony Vaio F series with 64 bit Windows 7 using the Intel Core I7 with 6GB RAM and 500 GB harddrive. This allows my home stereo system to play music via WMP.The problem is that the Yamaha can only read the music via WMP 12 that is stored on the internal hard drive of the laptop. The Yamaha cannot read any music stored on the external hard drive. WMP 12 has no problem accessing the music on both the internal and external hard drives - in other words, I can listen to music directly on the laptop with WMP 12 from the external hard drive. The obvious solution is to store everything on the internal drive, but this is not an option since this would use up all the storage on the laptop and would also be insufficient for all the music.Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? The network obviously works and the Yamaha can access WMP 12, but there seems to be some firewall between the Yamaha and the external hard drive.I know this setup works, because it worked about a month ago with my old computer which was an XP using WMP 11. Sadly, that computer is no more.I seem to be locked in to using WMP since that is what the Yamaha is set up for. I have not been able to find anything regarding this problem by searching via Yamaha. Also, I seem to be having the same problem as some others in that the final few seconds of songs are cut off. Has anyone found a solution yet? The laptop should have enough juice for this to not be a problem - 64 bit Windows 7, Intel Core I7, 6 GB RAM, and 500 GB hard drive. Again, as with the old XP using WMP 11, this was not a problem and that computer had less juice than this new laptop.

Before I just recently went to Win7, on XP I was piping audio out through an S/PDIF adapter mini-card to my HT receiver in the next room. On Win7, even though audio on the pc is just fine on it's own stereo speakers, the receiver doesn't get a signal from the pc. No wiring has changed, nothing hardware, only the OS AND the sound driver. On XP, with my ASUS mobo, I was using the ASUS recommended Realtek sound driver. On Win7 I'm using Micrsoft's built-n High Definition Audio driver. So I tried installing the latest Realtek driver. Not only still no sound to the receiver but also no sound on Skype. Unacceptable, so I uninstalled the Realtek and at least Skype works.

I do use a online USB foot pedal that is used for transcription. I have two plugs powering the system, one for the monitor and the other to the CPU, connected to a extension cord with 5 sockets. To the rest of the sockets I had my DTH (digital tv receiver) and a small tv connected. With this setup, when I am working with my footpedal, it works for 1/2 an hour with proper play, rewind, and forward controls. After 1/2 an hour, it starts acting weird and begins to control itself in that it plays stops rewinds continuously by itself making it difficult for me. At first I thought it is driver issue and reinstalled and installed and tried all methods. I do get lot of errors at such times if I change the USB port for the pedal during the times of this issue. However, the moment I switch the DTH off from the power source. It all seemed to be working fine again without any issue.
Considering that, I thought it may be due to some voltage problem with distribution of power and I connected the DTH set seperately out to an entirely different AC wall socket but same room. Again, for the first half an hour the pedal controls works fine, and then the same thing happens and the moment I switch the DTH receiver off, its all back to normal.

I have Windows 7 Home Premuim x64 Bit Service Pack 1. I just bought the Xbox 360 wireless controller for windows which comes with a receiver to play on the pc. When building my Hifi mancave, I was smart enough to wire it for Cat6, etc, but not smart enough to put a few lines of cat 6 into my HTPC jack. So I only have 1 cat6 line into my computer area. My new receiver (Onkyo TX-NR809) has a ethernet port in it, which enables internet radio, media sharing, playing, firmware updating, etc. Being a techy guy I got another netcard and put it in my computer and I want to share internet to the receiver via LAN2.
I've been scouring the internet trying to figure out how to do this with Windows 7x64 to whatever system (probably linux based?). I've seen how to do it with Windows 7&XP, XP&XP, Windows 7&7 linux & Windows, and they all use some sort of "brige internet connection" or something like that, which doesn't apply to my situation. Will someone just tell me what IP stuffs to use for the following:

1 have 2 scheduled tasks on my WES7 Thin Clients:
1) On Lock: Execute the following batch: Code: TASKKILL /F /IM "pnamain.exe"
TASKKILL /F /IM "Receiver.exe
TASKKILL /F /IM "WFICA32.EXE" This kills the open Citrix session and shuts down all citrix programs.
2) On Unlock: Reconnect the Citrix Session and open all programs via this batch: Code: start "" "C:Program FilesCitrixICA Clientpnamain.exe" /connect start "" "C:Program FilesCitrixICA ClientReceiverReceiver.exe" If i execute the 2 batch-files manually, everything works perfect. If they are run via the scheduled tasks, the locking works perfectly, but the unlocking behaves as following: pnamain.exe is started Receiver.exe is NOT started EDIT: The task is marked as 'finished without problems' I tried to execute this task with different settings... same problem all the time The Task is executed with the Admin-Account, so this should not be the problem.

I know that you just have to plug an external hard drive in to a computer and it works right away. My problem is, I used my external hard drive so I could tape TV shows on my Bell Express Vu receiver. I disconnected the external drive and want to use it on my computer but for some reason, I can't get it to work. It shows up under Devices and it's called "Desktop". Can't see what's on it or even open it. Normally they will show up under the same area as you other drives but it won't this time.

as stated in the subject, I am unable to hear any sound from my speakers since upgrading to the windows 7 64 bit. I followed the other post that I found on this but I still cannot hear any sound.I have a dell inspiron 531. The hardware ids from the device manager areHDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_1028020E&REV_1000
HDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_1028020EI have installed the realtek drivers and they as working but I still get nothing but a slight hiss from my speakers. I have tried them on my laptop and they work fine.Does anybody know what might be causing this? I am half tempted to get a new sound card but I am reluctant as it says my existing one is working (it just seems to have forgotten to tell the speakers!)
If anybody knows a fix for this I really would be eternally grateful

I've solved my gaming graphics issues, namely by choosing the parts I wanted rather than buying yet another "Media-Center"-style all-in-one unit that did everything, but not very well, I'm now in need of a solution to my present awful headphone sound quality. I have a generic Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card that is not very good, sound-wise, and, because it doesn't even include an optical out plug, goes unused. I purchased a refurbished Turtle Beach headset w/DSS decoder, and, while it works as advertised, the headphones are terrible for music. I've replaced the TB Headset with a much better-sounding Pyle set, and will buy some "real" headphones as soon as I've determined that the source itself is sending out a good-sounding signal.I've seen pro and con arguments about sound cards, like the Xonar series that have headphone amplification included. My issue with that is I am more concerned with the graphics for games, and I've built this system with SLI (another gtx580) in mind, and I do not see enough room under or in between the dual GPUs for proper installation of such huge sound cards, though I'm glad to have my ignorance in this area demonstrated. The anti-Sound card group seems to be gravitating towards a separate headphone amplifier, and I"ve seen them from the $20 dollar model included free with another headset I purchased, to the $1800 tube amps. I think I would like to either go this route, or purchase a home stereo receiver that can output the PC sound, thus having both satisfactory amplification for low-volume music listening( or ear-bleeding levels, if desired) and the ability to power speakers elsewhere. I guess what I'm asking is for some entry-level priced PC headphone amplifiers to start off with. I see countless rating comments for the FiiO series, and while the prices are certainly attractive, the fact that they're so low-priced also makes me leery of their actual amplification abilities while staying neutral in tone.
