Global Sound Mixer To Fix Treble/bass For All Programs
Dec 22, 2009
Is there way to adjust treble/bass globally in win 7?
Other than volume, I can't seem to find a something similar to iTunes which can help fix my sound quality.
I have cheap desktop speakers and a mini subwoofer -- the bass needs to be turned down.

In the last hour I've experienced 3 BSODs, all of which happened after installing a new version of the audio driver (which I did after removing the old version using an official utility), and two of which happened when playing CS:GO. The first one happened outside any game, so it could be a coincidence and may not be related to CS:GO. I'm attaching the SF Tool results and the CPU Z screenshots as instructed in the sticky.I re-launched CS:GO and played for some minutes and got another BSOD. I set Windows to not restart when a BSOD appears, and noticed there's a constant buzzing sound, so this is definitely audio-driver related, but I did use the official utility to uninstall the old one and I did install the latest one instead, so what else can I do?

My sound mixer was working fine, then all of a sudden one day it stopped working. I have no idea why. i dont know if its a software issue or hardware issue. the mic is disabled and the sound mixer is enabled, i disabled it and reenabled it and it still didnt work, i went into the properties and everything is where it should be (volume, ect) i checked the actual mixer down by the clock and that sound was fine on everything to! the speakers are working video is working so i dont think its any of my cards and i hear the audio fine, theres nothing wrong otherwise. i feel like maybe its muted somewhere bc when i tried the mic that didnt work either.but i looked in every possible spot i even tried to update the drivers but nothing needed updating.

This is a weird issue I'm having. I did a restart and when I came back BF3 wasnt playing any sounds, which is weird because it was just working. I went to make sure it wasnt muted in the mixer, and I see the weirdest thing.
The application "System Sound" is disapearing in and out very quickly, not only in the mixer but In devices as well
What can I do to fix it? Maybe reinstall Windows 7 sound drivers?

It just happened out of nowhere. My sound was working fine last night, then this morning I played a video and there was no sound. I clicked the volume icon in the task bar to see if I could hear the 'ping' when you adjust volume but it repeatedly froze and crashed (it's still doing this now after rebooting). Sound in control panel also crashes first thing when I try to open it. I want my sound back.

My sound mixer is not remember the settings I give to individual programs after they close and reopen. Say a game for instance, if I put the volume to 20% in the sound mixer and then exit the game, then go back on the game and check the volume in sound mixer.Instead of it saying 20% still and remembering it resets the volume to 100%.

The Volume Mixer in Windows 7 is supposed to show applications that are running sound, right? Well, mine shows some applications, like Firefox and Guild Wars 2 and Mozilla Thunderbird and KMPlayer. But it doesn't show volume for other applications that use sound like Winamp and ePSXe (playstation emulator). I'm playing Final Fantasy VIII on ePSXe and the game doesn't have a volume control itself for, say, music and/or sound effects. And I'd like to be able to turn down the sound on the emulator game so that the game volume doesn't intermingle with my music in the background played by Winamp. Is there a way I can add these applications to the Volume Mixer? Or, alternatively, is there a freeware/opensource program that will allow me to adjust the volume of individual programs?I am new here so hopefully I have done everything right. I was going to try to list my system specs here in this thread but I followed the link at the top of this Post New Thread page and filled out my System Specs according to the walkthrough.

I just got a new Dell monitor and my Bass fishing game doesn't run right. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. All i get is the audio and no video. i get a black screen that says 1: Analog input cannot display this video. All the other older games i have run fine except this one. I have a Dellâ„¢ 1707FP AIO Color Monitor. I have tried every compatibility mode you can think of but it keeps doing the same thing. Not sure if it's the OS or the monitor. Looked thru the monitor manual and could find nothing relating to it.

I purchased a new Asus laptop a few weeks ago with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. The laptop has Conexant Cocoa II High Definition SmartAudio speakers. The problem I'm having is in regards to the sound I am getting from both my laptop speakers and my external speakers which plug into the headphone port not having any bass. When I have my external speakers plugged into my old laptop running Windows XP the sound is fine and all speakers and subwoofer work, so I know it is all wired properly. When I unplug from my old laptop and plug it into my new one with Windows 7, there is no bass being played. The subwoofer doesn't work and the bass that usually comes from the speakers is not present, and turning up the subwoofer doesn't do anything. I've tried to use the "Bass Management" enhancement feature in the speaker properties, but it has no effect. The only thing I've been able to find that will lead to the sound having bass, is when I enter the set-up for the "Room Correction" feature in the enhancement tab for the speaker properties. During the set-up, the sound has bass, but as soon as the set-up finishes the sound returns to having no bass. The odd part is when sound is playing out of just the laptop speakers, the "Room Correction" set-up menu causes bass to be played out of them too. So I know my laptop has the potential to play bass, it just seems like something is stopping it. I cannot find any equalizer feature. My laptop didn't have Realtek when I got it, but I've downloaded the latest version and installed it (I think) but it hasn't changed anything.

I've installed the new computer and added some new speakers, i.e. Logitec Z623. These speakers have been installed less than two weeks and I've noticed that the volume is less and there is very little vibration or bass coming from the sub-woofer.

I have some technical difficulty in fixing the Realtek Driver. I recently bought the ASUS P8P67 motherboard (BIOS version 1204) and installed the provided Audio driver that came with the box which is version 6.0.1.6196. Other specs displayed in Realtek info page is
DirectX version 11.0
Audio Controler : HD Audio
Audio Codec: ALC892
I am running Window 7 Ultimate on x64 bits with the Sandy Bridge i7-2600 core. Noise Suppression and Acoustic Echo cancellation are disabled.
My problem with this driver is that from time to time, the volume on the Realtek mixer drops down immediately as shown on the screenshot.
Also, to certain programs that I am using, like Battlefield 2, the volume keeps resetting to very low even though I set it to volume level 28 before I closed the program. When I stop the recording or I closed the Midomi website (from screenshot), the tab drags back itself to 28 for iTune and the music played back at normal volume
How can I disable Realtek from keeping resetting my volume to low for the programs that I am using? Is this a bug? I tried reinstalling it did not fixed the issue. I tried putting the system volume to 28, and tried recording but the bug still exists.
I tried looking around the forum, but it seems to all point to the BIOS. My BIOS has been cleared which indicated clearing it again will not fix the problem.

Also validated files in sys32 folder from admin cmd. I just dont want to have to run a system restore to open this up.

When I install the drivers for my HTO Striker 7.1 and restart to complete driver installation, suddenly, I can only run anything if I right click and Run as Administrator.. not even Firefox. Its annoying to have to get the gray User Access Control screen everytime I want to do something, as well as having to right click and left click just to start a program.
HTO Striker 7.1 drivers on their site are listed as being good for Windows 7 x64.
What could be happening here? Has anyone had this problem?

I have been using Windows 7(64bit) for about a month now and have not encountered any problems that I could have not fix myself, but I am on one that currently is causing me some trouble. This morning I noticed that certain programs are not outputting any sound.(I've checked to make sure sound is not muted, headphones are plugged in, ect.) It is very weird because only certain aspects of sound are not working in certain programs.
I can go to a website and stream a video/music and hear that just fine, but if I try to load up a game, be it Call of Duty Modern Warfare1/2, World of Warcraft, or even a VOIP program like Ventrilo the sound is not working(for ventrilo I get sound from connecting and text-to-speech sound, but I do not hear other people on there). This is becomming quite a problem for me seeing that I am usually using Ventrilo and on a game at the same time. I am wondering if there is a known problem with sound malfunctioning with certain programs or if I should go ahead and reformat and hope for the best.

I've searched around on the net for anyone else that might have this problem, but no luck. The program is a game called Shores of Hazeron, the sound works fine, apart from the fact it isn't showing up in the volume mixer, and the game doesn't have any volume controls in its in-game settings. Which can be a bit annoying when you have the rumbling of a starship in your ear when you're trying to listen to music.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A665-S6086 laptop which had to be re-imaged back to out of the box status. Before the re-imaging, the Realtek audio controller had a mixer panel in its device manager, and on the system volume control, that allowed me to record from the mix of audio going to the speaker (labeled "stereo mix" ). Now, I find that the ONLY recording device that EXISTS is the physical built-in microphone; I just recorded a streamed radio program, and it was basically recording the room noises and, very faintly, the audio from the speaker. That was how I discovered the change in software environment. I have tried downloading the driver from the recovery partition; it installs but does not correct the problem. I have tried uninstalling both audio devices and letting them reinstall on restart. I can play audio to the speakers, but not record the audio internally.

I have the following setup:
Windows 7 Pro x64
Intel DP55WG mobo w/ onboard RealTek HD (889)
Driver Version: 6.0.1.6449 from RealTek
MSI Nvidia GTX 460
Just using normal analog speakers or headphones audio works as expected. I can play WoW, Rift, a number of other games, iTunes, play a DVD, whatever - it all works fine and as expected. I can do this for hours and hours with no issues.
When I try to run any TWO or more programs that use audio at the same time (like vent and a game, or a game and iTunes for example); after a random amount of time the audio to the speakers will just cut out - like it's muted. This happens with headphones or normal stereo speakers plugged into the rear analog jack. I have not tested with any other speaker setups as I don't have any right now.
Here is some of the troubleshooting I've done:
- There are no error messages in any system logs.
- The mixer acts like nothing is wrong you can see audio levels playing, adjust sound level, etc but nothing comes out of the speakers.
- If I put the machine into sleep mode or reboot it the sound starts working again.
- While the audio is "cut out" the mic still works (people in skype or vent can still hear me but I can not hear them - I can also "monitor" the mic and it outputs the mic sound to my speakers).
- I've uninstalled, reinstalled drivers. I've tried older drivers and the newest drivers and all the drivers between.
- Tested with the HDMI audio output devices both Disabled and Enabled, no change
- Tested with the Digital output enabled/disabled, no change.
- In the driver tried testing with the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" checked and unchecked, no change.
- Restarting the Windows Audio Services has no effect or changes the state. Only sleep mode or hard reboot makes it start working again.
- Tried unplugging and replugging in the speakers and/or headphones, swapping them out, etc. no change to the state of the output of audio.

My computer has Realtek HD audio. In my previous installation of windows 7, the tray volume icon would show several audio outputs at once. For example, if I clicked the volume icon it would have have a volume control for the Speakers (rear audio out), the headphones (front audio out), and the HDMI audio that my GTX460 sends. Now, I can only get one of them to show at a time. What's going on?

I have been giving Voiceovers a go and have been told that I need both my Alesis Miser as well as an Digital Audio Interface. My Mixer has a built in preamp and plugs directly into my computer by the use of an USB cord. My Alesis Mixer also has two XLR ports for my Studio Condensor Mic. But I am told the outcome is not as clear as it would be if I now ran out and purchased an Digital Audio Interface and/or a better sound card. The Sound card I am using is merely the ON-BOARD sound card that came with the machine.
