Windows 7 Volume Mixer Not Showing All Sound Applications?
Nov 6, 2012
The Volume Mixer in Windows 7 is supposed to show applications that are running sound, right? Well, mine shows some applications,like Firefox and Guild Wars 2 and Mozilla Thunderbird and KMPlayer. But it doesn't show volume for other applications that use sound like Winamp and ePSXe (playstation emulator). I'm playing Final Fantasy VIII on ePSXe and the game doesn't have a volume control itself for, say, music and/or sound effects. And I'd like to be able to turn down the sound on the emulator game so that the game volume doesn't intermingle with my music in the background played by Winamp.Is there a way I can add these applications to the Volume Mixer? Or, alternatively, is there a freeware/opensource program that will allow me to adjust the volume of individual programs?I am new here so hopefully I have done everything right. I was going to try to list my system specs here in this thread but I followed the link at the top of this Post New Thread page and filled out my System Specs according to the walkthrough.
29th September 2012 Edit: Updated is a well known windows 7 / adobe bug which has [UR;}
So I've not long migrated from XP to 7 and I've noticed that every time I watch or stream audio my Adobe Flash Player 11 which I like to set to 50% in Volume Mixer jumps up to 75% which makes the audio playback distorted & poor sound quality.
How do I get it to stay at 50% ? Usually I do like to set volumes to 75% which is what I've got my Realtek Device set to but Adobe crackles and sounds bad at 75% so I have to set it to 50%
It just happened out of nowhere. My sound was working fine last night, then this morning I played a video and there was no sound. I clicked the volume icon in the task bar to see if I could hear the 'ping' when you adjust volume but it repeatedly froze and crashed (it's still doing this now after rebooting). Sound in control panel also crashes first thing when I try to open it. I want my sound back.
I have some technical difficulty in fixing the Realtek Driver. I recently bought the ASUS P8P67 motherboard (BIOS version 1204) and installed the provided Audio driver that came with the box which is version 6.0.1.6196. Other specs displayed in Realtek info page is
DirectX version 11.0 Audio Controler : HD Audio Audio Codec: ALC892
I am running Window 7 Ultimate on x64 bits with the Sandy Bridge i7-2600 core. Noise Suppression and Acoustic Echo cancellation are disabled.
My problem with this driver is that from time to time, the volume on the Realtek mixer drops down immediately as shown on the screenshot.
Also, to certain programs that I am using, like Battlefield 2, the volume keeps resetting to very low even though I set it to volume level 28 before I closed the program. When I stop the recording or I closed the Midomi website (from screenshot), the tab drags back itself to 28 for iTune and the music played back at normal volume
How can I disable Realtek from keeping resetting my volume to low for the programs that I am using? Is this a bug? I tried reinstalling it did not fixed the issue. I tried putting the system volume to 28, and tried recording but the bug still exists.
I tried looking around the forum, but it seems to all point to the BIOS. My BIOS has been cleared which indicated clearing it again will not fix the problem.
Running windows 7 64-bit. Having trouble with opening my volume mixer. Does not open at all from taskbar or when i try from control panel>sounds. Ive tried looking up this problem on google, but I can never get mine solved. My speakers and headphones still work, but i need to take out the usb from the headphones each time i want to switch where the sound comes out from. Ive tried restarting my comp. Also validated files in sys32 folder from admin cmd. I just dont want to have to run a system restore to open this up.
I've searched around on the net for anyone else that might have this problem, but no luck. The program is a game called Shores of Hazeron, the sound works fine, apart from the fact it isn't showing up in the volume mixer, and the game doesn't have any volume controls in its in-game settings. Which can be a bit annoying when you have the rumbling of a starship in your ear when you're trying to listen to music.
My computer has Realtek HD audio. In my previous installation of windows 7, the tray volume icon would show several audio outputs at once. For example, if I clicked the volume icon it would have have a volume control for the Speakers (rear audio out), the headphones (front audio out), and the HDMI audio that my GTX460 sends. Now, I can only get one of them to show at a time. What's going on?
My sound mixer is not remember the settings I give to individual programs after they close and reopen. Say a game for instance, if I put the volume to 20% in the sound mixer and then exit the game, then go back on the game and check the volume in sound mixer.Instead of it saying 20% still and remembering it resets the volume to 100%.
right, you know where you can adjust the sound volume, you know, in the bottom right corner by the time! well, whenever i go to change the volume, i often get a window pop up that says 'not responding'
My sound mixer was working fine, then all of a sudden one day it stopped working. I have no idea why. i dont know if its a software issue or hardware issue. the mic is disabled and the sound mixer is enabled, i disabled it and reenabled it and it still didnt work, i went into the properties and everything is where it should be (volume, ect) i checked the actual mixer down by the clock and that sound was fine on everything to! the speakers are working video is working so i dont think its any of my cards and i hear the audio fine, theres nothing wrong otherwise. i feel like maybe its muted somewhere bc when i tried the mic that didnt work either.but i looked in every possible spot i even tried to update the drivers but nothing needed updating.
This is a weird issue I'm having. I did a restart and when I came back BF3 wasnt playing any sounds, which is weird because it was just working. I went to make sure it wasnt muted in the mixer, and I see the weirdest thing.
The application "System Sound" is disapearing in and out very quickly, not only in the mixer but In devices as well
What can I do to fix it? Maybe reinstall Windows 7 sound drivers?
Windows 7 32-bit won't play sound.Device ManagerSound, video and game controllersHigh Definition Audio Device ok.Double click and window says:High Definition Audio Device PropertiesGeneral: Device status says This device is working properly.Speakers are plugged in and make a crackle when plugging in to correct holes.
I am currently studying about file sharing and have recently developed an urge to create two volumes that can be shared across two Windows installations. One volume will be for the contents of the user files (My documents, My Music, Downloads, etc.) and the other would be for installed applications. The main reason I want to do this is because I am currently using a machine with a Windows 8 partition and a Windows 7 partition, and the whole process of having to copy the files and install the same programs to the other partition is really daunting, not to mention a huge increase in wasted space on the hard drive.The main issue I have with the first volume I want to create, is that I really have no idea how to integrate the user files in a way that both Windows installations can find it inside the same default location.All I could think of is maybe some kind of re-direct setting or file, but I still have no clue on how to do that. On the second partition, I have experimented with creating one similar to it for games only, but when I tried to run it on Windows 8, most of the programs needed to either reinstall, or have me manually add some dll files to the Windows 8 partition.
My system shows low disk space. So i want to increase my C partion without format. My system did not showing me extended volume of that c: then what can i do?
On my Dell Windows 7 laptop (Studio 1555) I have the System Volume Information showing (despite checking "hide system files" and hide hidden folder options enabled). The folder is also accessable from my admin account (not the root admin but the admin of the PC).
Sound of my Laptop is very low. But sound was good when I using Windows XP. Now I am using Windows 7. My Laptop Model: Dell Vostro 1014. What can I do now to increase volume?
does something like that exist? i've googled and googled, but i can't find anything. the problem is of course this; windows 7 sounds are in volume 10, then Internet is suddenly louder, say volume = 15, then foobar = 16 in track one, and 11 in track 2, and so on and so forth. a tool that normalizes sound everywhere (no matter which source, say volume = 12) is what i would be looking for, because i am constantly changing the sound volume, and this is not exactly automation - which is what we have computers for
I recently bought a dell computer second-hand from my friend, who had XP installed on it. It came with a subwoofer and a set of 4 regular speakers. On it, he had installed a form of creative volume control in addition to windows volume. The way it worked was he had the windows volume set to 100% at all times, and the creative volume control around 3% for regular browsing, 10-25% for gaming and 50% or higher for rocking out with music. I recently acquired windows 7 home premium x64 and upgraded my operating system. My soundblaster card has all the necessary drivers and the audio is all hooked up properly, and the only thing missing is this form of volume control. After looking around for the old software and trying a few different freeware and shareware programs, nothing has pulled through for me;
A few days ago my computer started acting a bit wonky, certain applications running slowly and eventually crashing. I assumed this was caused by some sort of Trojan or other virus and I scanned my computer with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and MSE. Nothing came up for MBAM but there were three issues with MSE, two I then rooting in some java app. I thought this was the issue but it continued. The computer starts up fine and I haven't had BSOD so far, but not application, even explorer browsers, freeze up within 30 seconds of use. The issue with the sound lagging was just at first noticed with a few games I played. The announced messages would stutter for a minute even though it was a 3 second phrase.I'm posting this from my phone because I'm running a chkdsk scan on my computer again, but nothing showed up the first time.
ive had my netbook for a few years now and has never experienced any problems with the sound until 2 days ago. is there a setting change i have to make to have my speakers play sound again? nothing is on mute, and everything is on fullblast, it just isnt working?
as I have a ntb without buttons for controlling sound volume, I have installed a program called Sound volume hotkeys - it allows to control volume with hotkeys: WIN + UP (resp. DOWN). The problem is that Win 7 has "occupied" the hotkeys, is there a way how to change it? I do not need the function by Win 7 (maximize × restore/minimize) at all.
I've got a bit of a problem here....randomly, the sound volume for my programs will drop (e.g. my music player, any games i am running, etc).
No actual change in the windows volume control, or any volume control is done....the sound output just drops. Only way to fix it seems to be to restart the affected programs (e.g. my music player).
There doesn't appear to be any pattern to it, it just happens randomly.
My wireless and my sound volume are spazzing out. The sound constantly varies and my wireless is intermittent. Sometimes it all works fine, but most of the time I am having these issues. I have only had my laptop for 4 days!!! I have an HP dv6-2144nr. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I spent 2.5 hours on the phone yesterday with HP support and this morning it all started again when I booted.
I was playing wolfenstein and every now and then the volume would increase in one go which made me . Now it's doing it with music too , every now and then the volume would shoot up didn't happen in vista.
