Gigabyte Ga-z68ma-d2h-b3 Audio Jacks Not Working
Oct 1, 2011
The audio jacks that came with the motherboard don't work. I've tried different speakers, restarted my computer etc. It doesn't appear under playback devices. It doesn't seem to appear under device manager either.
Here are some screenshots to illustrate my point:

so i was connected my bass amplifier (from headphone output) to the line in and i recorded the sound with soundbooth. when i played it back it was kind of skipping so i changed the quality to a higher hz and i recorded and it sounded right. when i went to move my amplifier a bit, because cables were all over the place, strange noises started comming out of the speaker. i unplugged the amplifier and restarted the computer and the sound and the realtek icon were gone . so i reinstalled the drivers and the icon was back, but the computer wasnt detecting when i plugged in my speakers or headphones. so i dugg deeper and checked my BIOS and everything was ok. i then went and uninstalled every driver related to sound with device manager and driver sweeper and reinstalled everything in safe mode. i even tried windows recovery and it still didnt work.i'm wondering now do i have to buy a soundcard or is there something else i can try?there aren't any yellow triangles in device manager and the realtek hd audio says that the device is working properly. I have a pair of speakers that I have tested on other computers and had working on this system until recently it stopped. When I plug the speakers into the back port and turn the volume up max on the speakers itself and the in OS sound options I can faintly hear the audio. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers. I have even tried reinstalling windows and it still happening. The front headphone jack will do the same with my head phones as well. Since its still happening after a reinstall im guessing its a hardware issue but I dont understand why my front headphone jack would do the same as well. I did recently remove my power supply and then put it back in.

For my custom computer I want it to have all of the proper parts in front (power, reset, LEDS, USB, audio), and I found how to do the switched and LEDs, but not usb ports and audio jacks. where do I get these? I can dissect a USB hub and wire it to a header, but a premade solution would be better.also i'd like to install a SD (and maybe MicroSD) card reader without using a drive bay (and ideally using the same header as the usb ports).

I have this motherboard. and get no audio when I plug in headphones in the front or back ports. I'm running win 7 so there aren't compatible drivers available on asus site, I tried downloading the vista x64 and installing them in compatibility mode but the device manager shows "High Definition Audio Device" so I think it's still using a generic windows driver.
Also tried these: Realtek
Sound>Playback shows Digital Audio (S/PDIF) and sound bars move while playing a mp3 or movie but still no audio. Usually speakers and headphones show up I though? I don't even see them when I choose show disabled devices. I tested usb headphones and got audio but I really need those 3.5 jacks to work.
The audio on this board is: Realtek ALC662, 6-CH High-Definition Audio CODEC
I've also reset the bios, and the mic shows up and receives data when plugged in but still no sound.

I just picked up a set of gaming headphones that use optical audio for its source, but I also have a set of 5.1 surround speakers. I'd like to be able to just use the headphones when I want to without having to go into sound manager and make the optical plug the default audio source every time I want to use them. Is there a way to enable both audio sources at the same time or do I have to switch them every time?

problem I'm having is that the on-board audio will not install regardless of what I do, let windows solve the issue, install the (apparently) compatible driver from the Gigabyte website via it's exe or manually from the same source.
I'm a little short on time at the moment so if any more info is required (system or other) please ask but I'm at a loss as to what to do. Despite oodles of googling If I can't find a solution I will just buy a new soundcard but this is a last resort.

I have a nice new Gigabyte X79-UP4 motherboard, and it is behaving for the most part, however the USB3 ports are not working. Drivers for the port installed fine (from the disk that came with the motherboard) however it is not recognizing either USB3 or USB2 peripherals.
Device Manager reports that the USB3 ports are fine -
I did download the newest Fresco Logic drivers from Gigabyte and the package failed on install with the message below -
Even though the installer failed I was able to go through Device Manager & update the drivers, but unfortunately there has been no improvement in functionality - USB3 and USB2 still do not work.
I have tried several installer packages, from different locations, and all have failed!

I have a Gigabyte motherboard that has just stopped working.Ive tested the PSU CPU RAM etc and they are all fine and the motherboard hasnt got any life at all for some unknown reason.the board is 11 months old and is being picked up by courier on monday and they said they will give me a refund.so in the mean time ive been looking at new boards as the one i have GA P41-ES3G seems to of been discontinued.y old board ran off DDR2 was Socket 775 Intel Q8400 Processor and its hard to track down boards that will take those components.I have seen one:- GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-G41M-Combo (rev. 1.4)It says Rev 1.4 but the ones ive seen for sale either dont say what rev or say 1.2 or 1.3What are the differences in Rev and would it be a problem if its an older Rev i buy?

Upgraded the bios from F4 to F5 and no effect. Can't see any devices that I plug into these ports. Never liked the transfer rate on these ports when they were working.Very slow - like a standard USB port.

I've got a Compaq Presario CQ61, Windows 7 SP1 installed, fully patched. I've got no sound from internal speakers and headphone jacks. I've uninstalled drivers and re-installed, I've used DriverMax to find drivers as well, uninstalled and reinstalled. No luck. Thats what's showing in my Device Manager. Volume Control is not muted, and maxed out for volume, and there is movement when clicking on the volume control just no sound.

in the middle of listening to a song on spotify yeserday, the audio suddenly cut off and i got an error message on spotify saying "there is a problem with your sound card. spotify can't play music." and upon trying to listen to music on Internet and itunes, there was also no sound.however, when i change the volume on my screen or turn on/off stickykeys, the sound works. the volume buttons on my laptop do not work.i tried uninstalling my driver, and it has said (multiple times) that the driver is still installed, even after rebooting. when i try to reinstall, i get the error message 5006, with no error details. the driver is listed in my device manager, and it says it is functioning properly.

I switched on my computer this morning realizing there was no sound working. The little icon in the bottom right corner in the tray has a red "X" over it. When I go into device manager my Sound, Video and Game controllers is missing from the drop down list. There are two drivers on the list which have a yellow exclamation mark over it and whenever I try to update the drivers it doesn't work. I'm running Windows 7 64bit

So I just got an update for Windows and after the update my headphones stop working. Sound still works with the integrated speakers but whenever I plug in my headphones they don't work. I've tried making the headphones the default device and that didn't work. I have BeatsAudio on my computer so I would like to know which driver update I need to try and fix the issue.

First of all my computer specs listed are for my home laptop but my question is for my work PC which I recently upgraded to Windows 7.upgradede my work PC from XP to 7 a few weeks ago. Prior to the upgrade I ran the upgrade advisory tool and I knew I would have a few minor issues (this being one of them) but for the most part everything should be fine. My problem is that I cannot get my audio to work. I have an exact same machine still running XP and according to that, my audio is using a realtec ac 97' audio driver. I have obviously tried searching and downloading of windows 7 compatable drivers for that hardware. but nothing seems to work.
First of all every driver I have found and tried are self installing ".exe" driver files and cannot find anything where I can manually install through the "add new hardware wizard". The problem with the .exe files is that some of them say "this version is not supported my this version of windows" others freeze halfway through installation, and others seem like they have installed correctly giving me a prompt saying so and requiring me to restart, but once restarted, still nothing.I have also tried running each of the driver installations in "XP compatability mode" but still the same problems described above. I had a similar issue with my graphics driver and solved it by installing a legacy driver for it. I have tried the same for this audio driver, but like I stated before I only have .exe installation files and cannot manualy search for the driver to install the legacy driver. I do have the original driver (XP driver) that came with my computer and obviously tried that one, but notihng I have tried has worked for me.
