Getting Random Black Screen After Installing Windows 7
Mar 27, 2011
Building new pc and I am getting random blackscreens. Some times before windows7 starts sometimes hours after windows has beeen running. My mobo is ta760gm2 with athlonx2 4850, corsair tx750, ocz fatality 2x2gb, velociraptor 74gb hd and wd caviar black 1tb hd. CPU never gets over 46c I have tryied reinstalling the os several times and got many updates completed.
i've had this before but can't remember what i did to stop it.it is exactly like you pull the dvi/hdmi lead out of monitor/gpu everything still working i.e. if playing video on Internet it carries on playing just no picture.i think it was something to do with intel's built in gpu, but i have disabled it everywhere i can think of bios, device manager etc.can anyone through some light on this please as it's startingto annoy me now
I've installed windows 7 ulitimate 32bit and everything is went fine during installation. After last restart screen goes black and i cant do anything. I cant boot up into bios at all...The only thing that i get is the black screen and flickering bios cursor and only command that responding is ctrl+alt+del
So I just got my Crucial M4 64g SSD that I was planning on using as my boot drive with windows 7 on it and nothing else but I have ran into issues along the way. When I boot off the windows cd once the loading finishes and the blue screen comes on asking language and such it blacks out. Everything is still running but the screen goes black. Im booting of my HDD right now to still use my computer. I used the 6g Sata cable and plugged it into the 6g sata slot on the mobo I formatted the SSD and tried again but nothing worked. The first time around it wasn't working so I tried installing windows in safe mode but it was going extremely slow so I canceled. The screen then froze so I restarted. Im not sure if i messed anything up by doing this. I tried only having the SSD plugged in as well when I install but the same thing happens.

In the last few weeks I've had random Black Screens Of Death. It can happen (most of the time) while playing a game, but it has happened while the PC was idle (rare) and just now it happened as I was attempting to refresh the Win 7 performance index. Most of the time, the screen goes black (complete video signal loss) and I have to hard reset. On the rare occasion it will go black, then after a while crash and dump. The last minidump file I got is included here. It seems fairly obvious that the issue is video related but I can't tell if it's the ATI drivers or a 3rd party driver causing havok with them.I've been trying, with zero success, to get some Driver Verifier output. Once I set Driver Verifier to check the 3rd party drivers it bluescreens during the Windows 7 splash screen and then reboots and loops. What I did do was hit F8 during one of the loops and stopped it from rebooting on error so I could capture the detail of the bluescreen. It's as follows:
I can't tell if this issue is related to my black screen issue.I think the issue is driver related but can't prove it at this point and I'm having difficulty interpreting the addresses above.I've run memtest for a couple of hours and no errors came up.

I've just installed windows 7 from dvd over windows XP. Installation went fine and really quick but on the last restart and first starting up of windows 7 screen become black and i cant do anything. The only thing that i see on the screen is flickering bios cursor and only command that respond is ctrl+alt+del. I cant get into my bios at all.
I have been trying multiple times to install Windows 7 to my hp pavilion g6-1007 laptop from an installation DVD but with no success so far. The problem is that I can't proceed with the installation. Every time I put the DVD and boot from there, first I see that black screen with the bar at the bottom saying "loading files".And after it finishes, it gets to a black screen (with only a cursor present) and then it does nothing more than that. It hangs there, no matter how much time I wait. The DVD-ROM also throttles down and the HDD activity LED stops blinking at all.I thought about a crappy image, so I downloaded the repair disk iso and burned a CD with it, but then I got exactly the same behavior. I'm thinking now of perhaps trying to install from a USB stick, as a last resort.

I would get a random black screen while playing an online game on my laptop (this happens randomly but usually 15-30mins after starting Windows and start playing the game). After the black screen appeared, it would automatically reboot to this windows error recovery page with options to go into safe mode (networking/command prompt) or just boot windows normally.I chose to boot Windows normally but after getting into Windows 7 and started playing a while, a random BSOD would appear. It has happened for 2-3 days straight. The attached is the mini dump.
Note: I did not install anything new to my laptop, I have ran chkdsk and sfc /scannow and found nothing.I have no idea what caused the black screen and the BSOD.
black screen usually no errors just a black screen sound will lag and freeze up have to hard reset it no blue screens usually here is the latest mini dump file.
this is the latest mini dump file most the time my comp never blue screens just hangs black so i never knew there was mini dump files still coming in and i have a bunch of those but this is the latest one.
had a driver issue a while back was getting blue screens from it but i completely erased it out of drivers folder and win32 drivers folder which was locked but i used a reg editor here that made it possible to take ownership of a folder and then i completely deleted it out of my system so i think.
My systems sometimes freezes during the boot process and all I get is black screen.
This happens when the error occurs: BIOS shows up normally Window 7 logo is shown for a brief second black screen
With boot details enabled, I see that drivers are getting loaded until classpnp.sys. After that the screen goes black as well and the system hangs.
Now when I turn on the machine, I get a text screen asking me whether to start normally or run a recovery attempt. Usually starting normally is all it takes and Windows boots up fine. Once Windows is up and running, it's rock solid. No lockups, no BSODs or whatsoever.
Unfortunately I have no idea how to get debug details of this part of the boot process (os loader phase?).
I already switched the SATA Ports, switched to a different brand and even switched to mSATA. So I'm pretty sure it's not the SSD. Using Windows SATA drivers or Intel RST doesn't make a difference either btw.
My dell computer screen flashes black for a half a second or a second at random intervals (anywhere from once a minute to every couple of seconds), but the system has not frozen, as I can continue to type, music keeps playing, etc. I found a site which suggests that it is my AC socket or adapter, but the same problem exists on battery power.
i have installed the windows supposedly and it restarts my computer during process then starts up saying starting windows then after that goes to a black screen and never recovers from it can any one help.
recently I installed a new motherboard and since it did not support RAID I had to install the OS onto one of the HD's. After creating a username and password the computer restarted again and after posting went straight to a black screen with a blinking white underscore in the top left. I tried booting from the CD again but when it says "press any key to boot from cd" nothing happens when i push any key on my keyboard. Any suggestions?
I messed up my computer really badly.I used a theme installer (from the 'Windows Club' website) to install the glass onion theme for windows 7.After I restarted my computer and logged in. my desktop is Black (nothing is on the screen). I have tried everything to fix this:I have tried sfc /scannow....but I get this error: "sfc scannow windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation"I checked my disk for errorsI don't know what to do now, because I did not create a restore point (because I didn't know how to do it...I do now)
i decide to reinstall my computer from windows 7 32 home bit into windows 7 64 bit, everything works fine until i decide to install the lates intel vga driver, after restarting the computer, the screen keep showing grid lines like this pic. t
my pc spec: Mobo :msi h67ma -e45 RAM : 2GB Ram Procesor: intel core i5 2300
I was installing a new theme earlier tonight on my desktop. I got an error code when I installed the shell32.dll file but for some reason I chose to ignore it because most errors don't seem to do anything. When I restart my computer and I try to log in, the screen is black and I get an error code. I have fixed a problem similar to this when my explorer.exe file got corrupted. I went to Ctrl+Alt+Del then>Open task manager> and from there I could open chrome and download a new them installer etc but now I can't even open the task manager file because I get another error code. How on earth am I supposed to fix this shell32.dll file and get to my task manager without re-installing windows?
Installing Windows 7. It just finished copying all the files to the harddrive and then it restarts to complete the installation (you know, the part where you type your namem computername and so on)
But after the restart, I can see it starting, Windows logo and all... But it looks like it's going to start but then, it's just a black screen. But I can see my mouse, and move around, on a completely black background.
Tried booting the computer it in safe made, but the installation program said it can't continue in safe mode and restartet. Aaaand I was back at the black screen. Tried doing the install again, and some problem.
I installed Windows 7 on my computer (Upgraded from windows xp) and everything seems well. However, at random times it (sometimes it flickers black) goes into BSOD then restarts again to windows,,the DMP shows different kind of problems like:
Memory Management Failure "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" System Service Exception
I recently bought two 2gb ddr2RAM and I am now using it.
When I'm using my computer I tend to get a black screen at random times. So far they usually occur while I'm browsing the web and while I'm playing games while on Skype. This happened before and the problem was that I needed a new DVI cable. After getting it fixed it was working fine until about a week ago where I started getting few crashes. Now I'm getting 1 crash everyday. There are times where I go to start my computer, but after the Windows logo I am left with a black screen. I usually keep restarting my computer until it turns on normally. I don't know why but I have a hunch that it might be PSU, temperature, or compatibility problems.I'm not sure if I've attached everything you need, so do let me know if I'm missing anything.
My wife did something on her PC (she doesn't know exactly for sure what & can't explain it completely me), and now she can't boot up her PC. She says it had something to do with changing the security settings for a program she uses a lot so it wouldn't keep asking her if she wanted to launch it, and that's when it told her to restart the PC, then it wouldn't boot up anymore. When you reboot, the screen eventually goes to a black screen saying "Windows failed to start. A software or hardware error may be the cause" or something to that effect. It offers me the option to "Launch Startup Repair" or "Start Windows Normally".If I Launch Startup Repair, nothing much happens --- it says it's adding files, then it looks like Windows is about to boot up, then it goes to a black screen for a long time & nothing happens.
If I choose Start Windows Normally, it simply reboots & eventually brings me back to the same screen again.I've tried using rebooting and selecting ESC to get to the boot menu, then installing the Win 7 installation disc & selecting the DVD drive, then I select thelanguage, then I click Repair, but it sits there forever with nothing happening.I also tried an outside boot disc I found on the web & it doesn't launch.
My son has a Toshiba Satelite P205 that he just upgraded from Windows XP Home Premium to Windows 7 32-bit. After the upgrade completed the computer booted fine. The within 20 minutes he got the BSOD and the system rebooted. Now he can't get Windows to fully start. We've tried all of the options from F8 with no success. We have the Toshiba System Recovery Disk but it won't launch. (The Boot sequence has been changed to boot from CD/DVD and then the Hard Drive.)The Memory Diagnostic from the Windows 7 disk ran fine with no errors. I'm thinking I might need to re-format/wipe the drive to start fresh but don't know where to obtain a boot CD(no floppy drive on this laptop). Does anyone recommend a software that I can purchase to clear everything without destroying the CD/DVD accessibility so I can then use the System Recovery Disk to put it back to the original factory Settings?
I have an Acer aspire 5732Z. I turn my laptop on and it shows the starting windows screen then just goes to a black screen with a cursor. I tried to do systems restore but it said that I did not have a system restore point. I cannot start in any safe mode. I have all my pictures, uni work etc., and I am terrified I've lost it all. I've only had the laptop a year.
My computer has these phases when it crashes about 5-10 times a day with the same way. The monitor turns black and GPU coolergoes to 100%. Only thing I can do is hard reset the computer. I finally managed to get a bluescreen about it.
Lots of issues with WMM on Windows 7. Among them, for no apparent reason random clips turn black and an "!" is shown where the clip was.Any way to install earlier version of WMM on Windows 7?
I have recently bought a computer and I have found that when I turn it on it runs normally until after the "Resuming Windows" screen, where everything turns off and the screen goes black. It had been running well for the last few days, so this came out of nowhere.I have searched this problem and I come up with a bunch of different solutions but no one agrees. The most common reason (apparently) is my version of Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) and I need to install something or other. But I can't even get to the desktop, and no one really explains it simply. Recently, my computer starts up windows and after the loading screen it just sits at a black screen forever with a cursor and it doesn't even make it to the log in screen. I have tried safe mode with the same results. What I've Done So FarTried to Repair Startup with Windows DVD Tried to use sfc /scannow at boot (Says pending changes and needs to restart) Tried logging into my Ubuntu partition and virus scanning (None found) Tried copying Reg Files from Regback into config while I was in Linux Tried to Repair Install (But I can't log into Windows ) Tried to bootrec /fixmbr /fixbot /RebuildBcd (Which destroyed my dual boot linux grub, but I was desperate. And still nothing) Interestingly though, after I do /RebuildBcd command it says something like "Found Windows Installations: 0" Tried to System Restore (Gave me an Error, wouldn't you know) At this point I'm not to confident that this can be fixed. If anyone has any ideas I'm willing to try. Or if you have any snazzy suggestions on how I could fix it using another computer, I have a different Windows Pro x64 computer that I can put the HD in if there's someway I can save my data/fix it/repair install from there. I just don't know how.
Edit: I finished the chkdsk and there were no bad sectors, though it did give me a message "Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50."I did a Windows Defender Offline scan with no viruses and I'm currently scanning with Kaspersky Rescue disk. I don't believe it is a virus, I think it's a corruptregistry at this point. I had just cleaned my registry with CCleaner before the shutdown that led to this >.<
i recently just installed a clean install of windows 7(instead of a upgrade from my vista.i got the free upgrade),now everything works fine expect when after the windows 7 splash occurs there is about a 10 second delay were the screen is just black with a cursor.
System was rock solid for 1 year till I downloaded Win7 SP1 a few weeks ago. Immediately, I started getting random freezes. Couldn't restore to previous state because the SP1 install erased the restore points!Uninstalled SP1. Updated all drivers: BIOS, Chipset, Video, USB, Audio, LAN, Mouse, etc. No Dice! Performed CHKDSK, sfc /scannow & DiskCleanup. Tried "Clean Boot" using MSCONFIG to disable all services.Disabled USB & LAN in BIOS. No Dice! Won't even run in Safe Mode... nor, complete an installation from the Win7 DVD w/o locking up or Black Screening[CODE]I read some people solved their problem by simply changing out the Power Supply. This one "seems" to be running fine... and, it *WAS* fine before the dreaded SP1 nuked my Win7 installation. What is going on, and how can I get the OS reinstalled???? and, get the bugs out of the XP side?
Whenever the Windows loadscreen passes the screen goes black and I can move a cursor around the screen. I have had this happen before and fixed it with bootrec.exe but I can't seem to get that to work this time. Safe mode has the exact same black screen problem.I have done chkdsk and sfc scannow - Didn't fix it.When I boot into Kaspersky Rescue from a USB drive it mentions that I need to shut down windows properly before continuing. I would like to do this but I can't.I have tried changing the active partition on information in some of these other threads - It didn't seem to work. All disks are healthy according to the DISKPART and Partition Wizard. I have done the HP hardware diagnostic scans and everything comes up fine.
