View 3 RepliesI am currently looking a way to enable Aero in my machine. (as note, currently I am missing the Aero Glass, Aero Peek, and Aero Flip.
I did a clean install of Windows 7 on the machine. Because my screen is WideScreen, at first the graphics are all large and mushy. But at this point I HAVE AERO!
Then, I installed the driver for the gfx card, which was SIS UniVGA3 v.3.85. After installing and restarting, I get the normal resolution (1280x800) but NO AERO.
I thought this was driver problem, so I downloaded UniVGA5 v5.07, UniVGA5 v5.20 (which is the driver for Windows7, according to the site), and the SiS driver update from Windows Update, all of which didn't enable Aero for me.
I am completely stumped on this. I just don't get why the heck I get Aero WITHOUT driver, but no Aero with drivers.
Is there any hack or download that can get me transparency?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Windows 7 and currently am running 7 Pro on my PC although there are a lot of things that I do like about 7 there are a lot I don't. I tried to customize my PC with a paid version of WindowBlinds. It is a 7 theme and compatible but it still has some of the Aero items still attached (light blue shading on bars, highlights and the like).

View 5 Replies View Relatedi booted up my comp and Aero wasnt enabled. I reinstalled my graphics drivers, it came back on. However, whenever I restart my comp, Aero disables again. so , if I reinstall my graphics drivers every time i boot there wouldn't be an issue, but thats a bit annoying. So I ran the windows diagnostic tool for aero and it told me that my desktop window manager was disabled. So I ran services.msc and found the desktop window manager in the list, only it said that hte desktop window manager was in face running and operational. [code]

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a PC on my domain network. i have a new laptop, but i cant install Aero peek on this PC, or either activate it.
i have look at the guide in here and other sites, but i cannot activate it. can i download it or does it comes with IE9? atm i have IE8 installed.
its a Windows 7 pro 32-bit version. i have aero peek on the other PC's in the domain:S
I have recently downloaded the Windows 7 RC, mainly for the areo visuals etc.
BUT i cannot seem to enable them.
I have tried all the hacks out there on the Internet and cannot seem to get it to work.
I have also updated my driver etc.
My question is, with my current hardware, is there anyway to get aero to work?
I have previously had vista and i got aero to work somehow, but i cant remember.
My PC Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+ 2.0 GHz
512mb RAM
Nvidia GeForce Mx 440 with agp8x
Windows 7
This morning I've received a message in my taskbar that says there are new updates for my windows live beta. After restarting the computer to apply the updates, I lost the Aero look.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am puzzled as to why my aero peek display (is this the little mini pictures of the open windows?) has diappeared when I hover my mouse over the taskbar. All I have now is the title of the page, rather than a miniature of what's open. I did have to update display drivers a couple of days ago after having some nasty display problems that led to BSOD. Could that have caused it? When I go to Task Bar -Properties I can't check "Use Aero Peek to preview desktop"

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade and was running the Windows upgrade Advisor. It says your current graphics adapter wont support Windows Aero user interface. If you want to experience the benefits of Aero contact your PC Manufacturer or retailer to see if Upgrade is available.
I've attached the graphics properties as a image.
What should i do here ? I understand just 128 MB is more than enough for Aero. I dont why im getting this problem ?
Should i go ahead and clean install Windows 7 and is there is updated driver for this ?
The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor says my video card won't support Aero.
It's an Asus GF8400GS with 256Mb. (EN8400GSSILENTHTP512M)
Both the Nvidia site and Windows 7 Compatibility Center say it is compatible with Windows 7. Does this mean it will support Aero or not?
The Aero page http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/What-is-the-Aero-desktop-experience
just says it needs to support DirectX v9, and Windows Display Driver Model Driver, Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware, and 32 bits per pixel - that doesn't sound too difficult?
I just upgraded from vista 32bit to windows 7 64bit. Everything works fine except I can't get Aero to work. When i clicked on the troubleshoot the error message read
"Video card doesn't support aero effects"
Where can i find the proper driver and how do i install it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here are my system specs straight from DxDiag. I know i have an NVIDIA but im not sure how to figure out exactly whcih kind.
I would like buying a graphic card with a H.264 hardware support for my Pentium 4.
This card will be useful for the next version of Adobe Flash Player (10.1) too.
Unfortunately, my motherboard doesn't have a PCI-E slot : only AGP 4x and PCI 2.2.
It can boot with a PCI card as primary VGA and it also supports PCI 2.1 card.
As Flash 10.1 is more optimized for Nvidia products and the ATI support of their
AGP HD cards is very bad in Windows 7, Vista and even XP (there is no WHQL driver),
I prefer buying a DirectX 10 card from Nvidia. But there is no AGP DirectX 10 Nvidia.
So, I has to choose a PCI (not PCI-E) graphic card.
My current graphic card is a Gigabyte GeForce 6200 AGP 8x.
Windows Aero runs but, for example, "Flip 3D" is pretty slow with a lot of windows.
My next graphic will probably be a EVGA/Sparkle GeForce 9400GT or Albatron 8600GT.
Note : what is the best manufacturer ==> EVGA, Sparkle or Albatron ?
But I wonder about Windows Aero : Isn't a PCI bus too slow for Windows Aero ?
Compared to my GeForce 6200 AGP 8x (running at 4x due to my motherboard),
will 3D Windows GUI (called Aero) be faster or slower with a GeForce 9400GT PCI ?
What about GeForce 8600GT PCI ? I worry because PCI bus is slower than AGP bus.
In short, will there be performance issues with Windows Aero ? Or not ?
Could I sell my GeForce 6200 instead of leaving on my computing (with a PCI card) ?

View 2 Replies View Related[code] This was the error I received for many months when I attempted to play a game or watch a video through Media Player Classic. At the same time, I always got the error that Desktop Window Manager had stopped working and was closed upon start-up, so I had no access to Windows Aero et al. Basically, the errors went hand in hand with each other. Then after a while, the computer began freezing after 20 minutes of use. So now, even if I went and used Driver Sweeper to remove all old drivers for the GPU, and installed fresh drivers, the computer would freeze within 20 minutes of use. (Previously to that, a fresh install guaranteed no problems atleast for a week)I finally decided it had to be a GPU error, so I sent in the GPU for repair at ASUS. I still haven't received it back, but in the meanwhile, installed an old BFG 7800GTX I had lying around to have a temporary computer.Clearly it means it's not the GPU's fault. Is it the RAM? The Motherboard? Maybe not enough power to the system? [code]
View 1 Replies View RelatedI run a triple screen setup and recently replaced a 1080x720 monitor with a 1080p one (the other monitors are 1080p and 1680x1050). Then I started being plagued by "Windows Aero has exceeded its maximum memory allocated" and "Is your system performing slowly?" messages, with Windows turning off Aero every now and then.I have plenty of memory (8GB, soon to be 16GB) and at idle I only use ~30% of it (when Aero is enabled it sits around 35%), so a lack of memory isnt the issue, just that it seems Aero is using more than is allocated. So I was wondering if there is a way to increase the amount allocated. I have researched a bit on this subject but what I have found so far is a flat out no, Microsoft saying update Windows and graphics card drivers (all is up to date) and some indirect fixes that so far haven't helped.

What caused the problem: Thursday I had my hard drives replaced, and had to reinstall windows. I have basically the same problem as the OP in Windows 7 Aero/glass color not working, was working before this thread
What I've done:- I ran the aero troubleshooter, came back with no issues.
My desktop is having a strange issue after the latest nvIdia driver update. Aero seems to be working just fine except for the taskbar and the top bar above the program window. This seems to be causing video to run very badly.
