I just wanted some advice because I have never done this before. We just bought some new Lenovo Edge laptops for work and also bought USB 2.0 Port Replicators with Digital Video Part number: 0A33942 to use with them. Our other setup was a Lenovo L512 with a Mini dock which the L512 has been discontinued. My question is can I use a DVI-to-dual DVI or VGA to display the video to two 22" monitors? How will windows recognize the monitors and what about performance? Some people here like the screen so small that I can barely read it and others like it large enough to read it from 10 feet away. The only thing that they are used for is Internet browsing and document viewing. Nothing graphic intensive.

My laptop with XP used the external monitor as extended workspace. W7 only uses the extra monitor and ignores the laptop's monitor. It is a old Acer and appears to run my W7 ultimate OK except for this limitation. Lotsa new ways to do old stuff - big learning curve.

I have recently bought a new computer and with it i got a lcd monitor. As i alreadfy had a computer i thought i would start using a dual monitor set up in which i can have two screens doing different things, for instance one monitor plays a film while the other is on facebook. how ever when i received the computer it only had one AV monitor port on it. This meant i couldnt do a dual set up for even use the LCD monitor to its potential. So i bought a AV splitter cable to plug both my monitors into one port. but this just left me with two monitors doing the same thing and having to use the bad resolution from the old monitor on both monitors.

confirm that a windows 7 desktop cannot be extended across multiple monitors via a common vga or dvi y splitter. Right now it only clones, and doesn't extend. So is the box of y splitters I have just a pile of junk now?

I have a splitter that I use to split laptop display to a computer monitor and a TV. Problem is that both the monitor and the TV goes to sleep after about 3 hours displaying. The splitters input connection is from a docking station from where I dock my dell laptop. I only get the display back on the two screens by powering of the splitter for a few seconds then powering it on again.

My house has a router[WPA@] to the desktop and this network allows the laptop to join.My daughter has a network without a router and her Verizon modem/router is set to WEP which she needs for remote access to work and won't change. To keep my configuration when I move in, is it advisable to buy another line from Verizon and use the setup I had in my house, or can I use an ethernet splitter to have our own setups on each seperate side of the switch?

So I recently installed win7 to my desktop which at the time had Ubuntu as the sole OS. I wanted all my stuff from Ubuntu after win7 install so I created an NTFS partition and moved all my crap there, wipe Ubuntu and did a clean install. So after I moved all my stuff from the NTFS patition to the win7 partition I ran gparted and erased the extra drive. What I was paying attention to was that win7 installed into an extended partition. Now when I try to boot I get a 'Disk failure boot, insert system disk and press enter'. So I thought ok easy enough, no luck it can't run the repair from install disk as it can't see the drive for some reason. is there any hope for my drive? Or should I clean install? No biggie if I have too, I can run Ubuntu live and move my crap if need be, just would rather not.

I have 4 partitions on my notebook.
C: is Windows 7 32-bit
D: is Vista 32-bit
E: is Windows 7 64-bit
F: is Data.
I now want to get rid of the Vista partition and give its sectors to the Windows 7 64-bit.
I tried shrinking the Vista partiton, but the extend option is greyed out for Windows 7 64-bit.
How do I remove Vista and have it deleted from the boot manager setup?
Then how do I extend the Windows 7 64-bit into the, now empty, Vista partition?

I've decided to join the forum seeking for help with this problem I'm facing on a relatively new Dell XPS 15 laptop. The machine is around 7 months old, has Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit edition installed (OEM) and has been updated to SP1. The problem first appeared when trying to backup files to an external 2 TB WD hard drive. While backing up the files, explorer.exe crashed, and my browser and iTunes crashed rapidly after, all giving some random address 0x. as the cause of failure. Around 15 seconds after this, I receive a BSOD with KERNEL_INPAGE_ERROR written at the top, and a notification at the bottom that the physical memory dump FAILED with status 0xC0000010. I thought that maybe I was straining the hard disk too much by transferring so many files at once, so I reboot the system, only to get a notification after POST that "there was a disk error, press CRTL-ALT-DEL to reboot". After doing this, the system rebooted, went into startup repair, rebooted again, and boot up normally. Ever since this ocurrence (which was a week ago) I've been getting random BSODs when doing random things on the computer, but mostly, when doing hard drive intensive operations. However, an interesting thing to note is that the subsequent BSODs did not contain the error message KERNEL_INPAGE_ERROR at the top anymore, but reported a STOP 0x0000004f at the bottom, and the same FAILED status for the physical memory dump. I tried running a chkdsk, but found no errors. I ran a DELL Memory diagnostics tool that found no errors. So I'm leaning towards a drivers issue.

I've got Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my HP laptop, and seeing as I got a new monitor as a Christmas present, I'll need to make the proper adjustments to make use of both my laptop screen and the new monitor. I've been able to change the display settings so that they are mostly to my liking, and I've even gotten the start menu to show on both screens, even though I was forced to download a 3rd party program to get this working. The problem I have not managed to get past is that whenever I run any program in full-screen mode, the program is opened on the primary screen by default. What I'd like to be able to do is to choose which screen the program should be displayed on.

I want to add a new internal 1TB HDD with 2 partitions: 100GB for scratch disk space for Adobe CS, Autocad etc. and the remaining 900GB for User Data. My OS/Apps is on a 90GB SSD with no partitions. I have read the tutorial on creating a new partition but several questions remain unanswered..
1. should both the "S" partition ("S"cratch space) and "U" partition (User Data) be extended partitions, or should the "S" partition be Primary? If I desired to direct temp files here and possibly a 2nd pagefile...would that dictate primary or extended type? Is it OK to perform all these functions on this partition (scratch space, temp, pagefile?).
2. I want the "S" scratch disk partition to be on the outer edge of the drive so that it is the fastest. Do I create this partition 1st or 2nd?
3. Since I'm not installing an OS on this HDD, the 100MB "recovery" partition will not be created on this one? Would it be advantageous to have such a partition if the other SDD with OS/Apps fails?
4. Does the tutorial here still the correct steps for what I want to do?Partition or Volume - Create New

When I open my Windsor program I can see it is open but it won't show anywhere. I have an extended screen and I can see when the program opens that the screen flashes and it looks like the program is hidden. I have tried all the options I know of including re-installing software.
Some more details. The program I run had four charts open and when I last closed the program I had one of the charts expanded.

I have 4 partitions as c,d,e,f. I have merged d,e,f using disk management tool from windows 7. Everything went fine till I merged three extended partitions to one. Now I can't delete the free space now. When I right click I can see New shrink volume and delete partition options but I can't delete my freespace. When I do so I got a message like can't delete partition an error occurs stating that not enough space available on disk to complete this operation". And I am not able to see my partition in my computer. Now I shutdown my system and started now it showing no partition found Grub error. I have linux in this but I didn't touch that partition. My model is sony viao VPCEB15FM. I tried with internal backup but no use.
