Generic Drivers For Built In For Laptop Card Readers
If you have a laptop and have a problem getting the built in SD / MMC card reader to work then I've found the "generic" one from the Twinhead german site does OK. For X-64 use the Vista driver. Expanding the zip file will give you the 32 and 64 bit drivers.
The most "Generic" drivers seem to come from the F11Y laptop series but choose from other models if this doesn't work.
Most of these drivers are pretty "Generic" so should work with a huge amount of hardware irrespective of your actual model.
HP/DELL/COMPAQ owners are usually pretty lucky as the manufacturers sites are pretty OK. It's when you buy essentially an unknown brand of laptop where you can't find the "manufacturers" site as the laptop is badged under a different name. From the link just click on the Notebook model and get the drivers.
No stupid registration or "Let's scan your computer to see what driver you need" -- and then you are re-directed to a PAY service or more adware nonsense -- I HATE those sites --what if I'm using a different computer to get the driver than the one I install it on.

64-bit Drivers For A Built-in Camera On A Sony Laptop
I am looking for a 64-bit driver for the built-in Camera on a VGN-FZ145E Sony Laptop. When windows 7 64-bit Ultimate was done installing on the computer the driver that it installed was a Microsoft driver and the device is called usb camera or something to that effect. I am aware that Sony does not have 64-bit drivers on their site for the laptop for Vista. Does anyone know of a third party driver that might work. Sony® Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC4

USB Card Readers Malfunctioning
I upgraded to Windows 7 RC 64bit and now none of my USB memory card readers work. My multicard reader, and neither of my digital cameras come up (wich used to just show up as disk drives). Other items seem to still work, such as my USB Mouse, a USB-Serial port, and a joystick. All that comes up is a notice saying "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)", and assignes it an "unknown device" driver. I get the same code for all 3 devices.

Smart Card Readers Get An Extra Driver
I am working for a smart card reader company, and was checking Windows 7 with our existing drivers. I noticed that on installation Smart card readers get an extra driver (scfilter.sys, some class driver). This would be fine with me, although i am not sure what it does exactly... Next to that, whenever I insert a smart card, Windows 7 tries to install a device!! Weird for me, but as long as it works, I in fact do not care too much ;) But unfortunately in some cases, like:Â 'combined' drivers using a bus-driver, a virtual reader/card driver, this prevents the drivers to work? In the case of the bus driver it does not load the other function drivers, the virtual reader driver (where a buddy driver takes on the role of the card) the reader/'card' insertion is never noticed. Is there anywhere where I can find info on this and on how to solve this??

Dell E6400 Laptop USB (Built-In) Webcam Problem
After searching the web and this forum for some answers I realized there are many many problems with USB Webcams from different manufacturers. (please see the link below). My PC is fairly new Dell E6400 Laptop (Duo II with 4GB of RAM and nVidia video card with 256MB) with integrated Creative Webcam and despite all my efforts, installing different drivers in different compatiibility modes including the one released by Dell/Creative only few weeks ago - my webcam does not work. The driver is installed and the device is being reported by Device Manager as working properly yet none of the applications such as Windows Live Messenger not Skype can utilize the video stream, reporting inability to connect to webcam and that a "different application is utilizing camera". Since I found threads regarding many different webcam vendors (including MS), PC configurations and drivers involved I suspect that this is an issue with Windows 7 itself and not the webcams nor their drivers. BTW. My webcam was properly working under Vista 64 i.e. before the upgrade to Win7 RC (7100). I am frsustrated that there is no release regarding this issue anb no available solution / fix to the problem. What is going on?

Download Drivers For UPEK Based Fingerprint / Biometric Readers
As noted here, if you have a UPEK based fingerprint reader/biometric device, like those commonly bundled with Lenovo laptops, there are early native Biometric drivers available for Windows 7 that use the new Windows 7 framework. Very cool stuff! Currently, not all readers are supported, but a good majority are. You can download the 32-bit/x86 drivers here http://www.upek.com/support/downloads/windows7/w7x86.asp and the 64-bit/x64 drivers here http://www.upek.com/support/downloads/windows7/w7x64.asp

Generic PnP Monitor (yet Video Card Knows What It Is)
Win 7 detects my Mitsubishi 930SB monitor as a "Generic PnP Monitor" instead of properly identifying the monitor. The video card knows exactly what the monitor is. Vista .inf drivers can't be used with Win 7 to inform the OS as to what the hardware is when attempting to update driver or install hardware. Same problem with a Linksys USB Ethernet adapter. Any way around the problem?Â

However browsing my Motherboard manufactures website I see they Drivers for chipset, audio, and other components I can download. Would you recommend I stick with Microsoft drivers or use the drivers on the developers site?

Generic External USB Sound Card Won't Work
So I installed 7 Pro RTM, and plugged in my external sound card and no dice. I wouldn't normally care as I have a working PCI soundcard, except that its a really really high quality DAC, and it cost me a lot of money, so I'd rather not just forget all about it On XP it uses just generic usbaudio.sys, it works on macs, linux, etc without any issues. What can I try? I attempted to copy across a windows xp version of usbaudio.sys, but that didn't seem to help (I'm not entirely sure I did this correctly).

DVD Readers Unresponsive
i came to realize that my beta 7057 version of windows 7 has this problem concerning reading dvd´s, games mostly. popping a game in, assasins creed, stalker, whatever it may be is no problem as it opens up the installation screen, etc etc.. however, after a game is installed, and i happen to restart the computer, popping a dvd in again takes about 30 min before the reader realizes theres something in the tray. and that is no joke. trying to speed things up by double clicking on the readers in explorer renders it either unresponsive, or a "insert disk into tray" message.. dont know if this issue has been resolved in the RC, but thats what i have noticed having problems with.

Media Card Reader Acer Laptop Not Working
I have a Acer Aspire Laptop 5112WLMi on wich I installed windows 7 on a new HDD. Windows 7 installed many of the drivers by itself (including the X1600 ATI graphic card one) (after couple of sessions). Were missing the Webcam ones and the flash media cards reader if I recall correctly. Right now after many attempts I managed to install the media card reader drivers. This is how: It seems the setup program issued by Acer does not support Win 7 well. So it cannot complete the installation right even if it says it does. When you check out the peripherals installed 3 PCI ones are in trouble. Going in the properties of each of them you have to install the driver mannually by selecting the right directory from the filles issued by Acer wich is the AMD64 directory. (you have to repeat the precedure for each PCI devices that don't work) You will then discover that each of those PCI devices were the SD/MMC card reader, the smartmedia XD card reader and the memmory stick card reader controllers. Important to notice that you need to restart after, for the device to work properly. Wait couples of seconds (minute or two) before the system digests the card it seems windows seven is some how alive and it takes him sometimes couple of attempts before it works something like a child learning. (but the important thing is that in the ends it learns well! ;o) )

Media Button Drivers For LG S1 Laptop
I am running Windows 7, ver. 7000, on a LG S1 Laptop. Everything has gone pretty well so far. But trying to get the drivers and software installed for the direct media buttons hasn't gone so well. I used the Vista drivers from LG, I had to run them with Vista compatibility. They seemed to run ok, but the buttons don't function any differently and I can't find the service anywhere except in the "programs and features" ie "add remove software" Anyone have any ideas or had a similar issue?

Drivers For Dell E1705 Laptop
I have a Dell E1705 laptop. I was told by 6-7 Dell techs that windows 7 will work on my computer. It has enough processor speed-ram and alarge enough hard drive. But over the past 30 days of talking to them I have been told many different things that has only left me confused and flustrated. 1/2 of the Dell support techs say that there required drivers and then others say they have lost them. I have contacted Microsoft b4 and I also was told that windows 7 would work and that there were drivers for my laptop. but I have not been able to pin down just where these drivers are to be found. my system is a 32 bit system. I was sold by Dell tech support a windows 7 prem full install set for 215.00. If I can use it then I need to know where the drivers are to be found. and for now I am looking at letting my daughter use it on her XPS high end gaming computer. it has 10 times the requirements needed for windows 7 to work on it. But since it seems that Dell tech people cannot get their stories straight I am left without a definite answer my question. All I wanted was to ask a simple question and get a true answer. But From what I have gone thru with Dell. I cannot believe what they tell me. I fell that they either do not know or they are delibertly leading me along and lying to me. So I come to you. I need an answer that has the truth in it.

ACER Aspire 5920G Laptop Drivers
Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but any pointers would be hugely appreciated! I'm running an ACER Aspire 5920G laptop, which comes with Vista 32-bit installed. I'd really like to give the Windows 7 RC candidate a try, but don't want to screw anything up! I'm going to add a new partition so I can dual-boot the existing OS with the new one, but my major concerns come from ensuring the hardware works acceptably. The graphics chipset in the 5920G is a Radeon 3470 HD Mobility, and I keep it up to date under Vista using the Mobility Modifier software. Will the same modified drivers work fine with Windows 7 RC? (I'm hoping that there might be someone on this board who's been in a similar position). Also (and this isn't quite on the topic of drivers), the laptop has 4gb of RAM installed - is it worth using a 64-bit version of Windows 7 RC, or does that complicate matters unnecessarily?

ATI X1250 LAPTOP DRIVERs Issue
