Cannot Keep Aspect Ratio
Dec 31, 2012I have ultrabook with Windows 7 (Intel HD 4000 / nVidia GT 620m). I installed some old games with low resolution (620x480; 800x600 ...) and it worked fine - system kept aspect ratio and created black bars when needed, so game looked normal. About a week ago for some to me unknown reason it began to change it. Every game is widened now and looks "fat". Even when I change resolution and settings in game that allows it, the screen is widened anyway. My graphic control systems seem to be "cut" - they dont have any option to "keep aspect ration" or so. control panel neither. I did not instal any updates or new drivers, so I do not know what exactly happen.

Dec 13, 2009I am currently having a problem playing 4:3 game with no wide screen support on my 1440x900 (16:10) monitor. What I mean is that when I play it full screened, the game is stretched.
This was funny because It used to add the black bars for me on the sides to keep the 4:3 (800x600) ratio. But then disappeared after I decided to update my graphics card's drivers (Nvidia 9600 GT). I searched everywhere constantly over the net and this forums using the search for a solution but it only seems like people want to remove the black bars, I WANT them.
There are some solutions saying that I should check the "Maintain aspect ratio" selection in the Nvidia control panel, but because I don't have the "Flat Panel Display Monitor" option in my control panel (seen below), I cannot access it.

Sony Vegas Video 7 Aspect Ratio?
Oct 8, 2012It seems even if I specify a 16:9 resolution to render in, I am seeing borders.I hit Render As.. then Custom. But there is.. a drop down box next to Aspect Ratio ? With a lot of numbers/decimals and such that I cannot understand at the moment.. which do I want?I'm using .mpg format because my Playstation 2 is kind of limited.. I'm not sure if I should try the other .mpg format ? I don't wish to add borders no more?

Sep 12, 2011I recently installed a Media Center server as a centralised location for all my media including broadcast and satelite TV. I view / play media using Xbox 360's as Media Center extenders. The setup was straight forward and works really well across my network. However I have one issue that I can not resolve.
Any items that have been recorded on the composite video input (satelite TV) of the TV tuner card in my Media Center server are in 4:3 aspect, but only when watched via xbox. If I watch these recordings directly on the Media Center server, they are in the correct 16:9 format. Xbox squashes the picture and puts black lines down either side of the picture. It does the same thing if you watch live TV from this composite video input. Digital TV inputs work fine.
Perhaps this is related to the file format used by Windows 7 - WTV, which from what I have read seems to have additional information embedded.
What Alters DVD Aspect Ratio "to Fit Screen"
May 12, 2012Win 7 32 bit HP.Win Media Centre and Win Media player DVD43 to decode other regions' DVDs A couple of DVDs that I have bought recently have a little message on them just as they start to actually play, saying that the aspect ratio has been altered to fit my screen. This makes everything fat, because the videos are 4:3 and the screen 16:9 If I play the videos in Win Media Player, the message shows, but then the video plays OK. If I play in WMC, the message shows and the video is widened. So it's not WMC, but something else that is trying to "fix" the video.

Jan 30, 2012I have a hp mini 210 netbook. Im trying to run games like broken sword on it. In my previous windows 7 instalation, i just selected 'maintain aspect ratio' from the display properties, and it gave me a full screen game.
I had a terrible virus, so had to format and install another windows 7.
I noticed the graphics driver is a bit different, and now when i select 'maintain aspect ratio', it makes no diffference whatsoever. how to actually get full screen again?

Nov 28, 2009I've had an ongoing problem with this for some time now. You can see here that my Device Manager tells me that I'm missing a video controller, and also in that post is my inability to watch full screen videos online. Here, I talk about the problems I've had with my display driver crashing.
Now, yesterday I downloaded Photoshop, and as it opened, a window popped up saying that my "monitor Profile" is defective and needs to be calibrated (See first attachment). If I choose to Ignore Profile, I can use Photoshop as usual, but everything I export has an irremovable yellow tinge. If I choose to Use Anyway, there is no white in Photoshop's color pallet, only the same yellowish color.
This got me thinking for the first time that my monitor was the cause of my problems, so I searched online for Samsung 2243swx drivers. On their webpage, they had up for download only one driver, which is for a VGA graphics card (See second attachment). I've been running a PCI graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS), and I was wondering if this could be the problem.
Would you say I ought to buy a VGA graphics card?
Can't Set Native Resolution For Samsung 22 Monitor
Aug 7, 2009I don't know whether this is a Windows 7 problem or a Catalyst problem, but here goes...
I have installed Windows 7 (clean) and the latest Catalyst drivers for my ATI HD4850 card. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 2243NW, a 22" panel with a native res of 1680 x 1050. I have installed the monitor driver from Samsung's website and the monitor is now showing correctly in device manager.
When I right click on the desktop and choose "screen resolution", the "change the appearance of your display" screen offers only "display device on DVI" ion the drop down menu, not the Samsung monitor, and does not offer me the native resolution. The nearest is 1440 x 900. If I click "advanced" I'm taken to the catalyst driver screen which correctly identifies the monitor, but bizarrely still offers only the same choices of resolution as the Windows 7 screen. 1680 x 1050 just isn't there.
Can anyone help me get my monitor to run at native res in Windows 7?
Samsung T260HD Monitor Problem
Sep 8, 2009i just bought a new monitor,Samsung T260HD....and i recently upgraded my sony vaio VGN-CR220E to win7 RC.....now my monitor doesnt work...idk if its the driver issue coz there is generic driver installed...the laptop recognizes that there is "Syncmaster" connected but nothin appears in the monitor....please help if anyone has any idea wat i m missing.

Samsung SyncMaster 943NWX Monitor Problems
Oct 3, 2009I have an old HP Pavilion t730m desktop pc. It has an onboard Intel 82865 G Graphics Controller, with a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 943NW lcd monitor and 2.0 GB Ram and Pentium 4. Currently it is running on Windows Vista Ultimate without Aero Effects, but everything else is working perfectly.
I would like to upgrade to Windows 7, as a matter of fact I've done it twice now, but whenever I do it I have monitor resolution problems, either I'm stuck with an 800X600 resolution or other options but not the current resolution of 1440x900 that looks great. So I have restored my backup of the Vista installation.
Sometimes when I change the monitor resolution, I get an incomplete screen display and a black bar on the right end of the monitor.
I would really like to upgrade to Windows 7 since my computer seems to run better than with Vista, but the screen resolution is very annoying.
1080p Monitor Not Full Screen?
Sep 9, 2009my laptop has an ati x1600 mobility card and is outputting via hdmi (mini dvi-actually) to an ASUS VH242H (full 1080p) monitor. When I had this connected running xp I had not problem with the screen resolution and size, but now that I'm running windows 7 the 1920x1080 resolution is available, but the picture doesn't fill the whole screen, there is like a 1" black box around the displayed screen.
I believe it has something to do with my display driver, I'm currently using the one provided by windows update.
Samsung SyncMaster 943NWX Monitor Resolution Problems
Aug 10, 2009I really hope that you can help me. I installed Windows 7 RC and after install my monitor resolution is set to 800x600. If I try to raise it, I get just one more option and when selecting it, I get a black vertical bar on the right of the monitor with still very bad resolution.
My Display Adapter is listed as Intel (R) 82865 G Graphics Controller (Microsoft Corporation XDDM)

Desktop Display Not Extending Full Monitor Width/height
Aug 11, 2009Just updated from Vista 64 to Windows7 64 build7100 .
Using DellWFP 32" monitor and ATI v7200 video card.
My desktop will not extend all the way left to right or top to bottom on my monitor.
It has black bar around desktop extending to edges of monitor.
When I set screen resolution to max 2560x1280 or recommended 1280x800 , then desktop goes full height and width of monitor. However these settings do not work for me at all.
Any other resolution setting and desktop is centered on monitor, very small with black all around it.
Here is image I took with my camera, as a screen shot only displays the desktop. This shows how the desktop is residing within the monitor. I've tried every resolution setting there is for this video card , checked to make sure I had the latest drivers also.

Dec 24, 2011I've recently purchased a Samsung T23A750 monitor and to my disappointment when I try to watch a movie the built in speakers are not functioning. I have a Sony Vaio Z216GX connected via HDMI to the monitor (HDMI-DVI) port. I can definitely see the video, but no audio is playing from the speakers. The built in speakers are not at fault- I did a self-diagnosis of the monitor and the speakers seem to work fine. I also set the monitor as the default for the audio and even when Win 7 says its functioning properly, the speakers still don't work. Conversely, setting the default to my PC speakers work fine. I'm sure its not the HDMI cable- I used the same one to hook my pc to my tv with everything working fine.

I cant also run it in windowed mode and stretch it out to full screen, it does not allow me to do that, it goes back to the size of my primary Monitor.
Ps.I want this since i play mostly with fullscreen borderless or in windowed mode so i can still browse the internet or adjust music/ventrillo settings. I dont want to have an Taskbar below the game, so thats why i need it on the Second Monitor.
