I have a strange problem on my computer. When I right click on Start Menu/Recent Items menu item, windows crashes giving an error of "windows stopped working". I am not able to right click on this folder. On any other folder, right click is working well. So what can be the problem

So now my list is all blank.to keep the various suggested solutions short, I know about setting the "Start Menu Size"; I've tried 5 to 20. No joy. I know about the checkbox in the Privacy area of the Start Menu tab; mine IS checked but still no joy. I know about "NoStartPage" setting in HKClassesRoot for various program types and to my knowledge.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noted that Firefox has an about:config (browser.download.manager.addToRecentDocs) setting that is supposed to make it not put the downloads into the Recent Items list (I dislike how downloads clog it up). However, it doesn't work.
If I open the download, then it won't show up but that's a poor workaround. The question is if there's a per-program method to determine what will go into the Recent Items list or am I up the creek without a paddle?
I unfortunately listened to the husband of one of my wife's friends and ran CCleaner on my Win 7 PC and now the Recent Items list on my Start Menu, which I use a lot, is totally fouled up. The settings are correct and I've edited the registry but the number of items displayed is never consistent, never more than 6, and sometimes disappearing completely, whereas I have it set to store 10 items.

After I got through and did a clean install of Windows 7, I went and did all of my customizations, and I tried to modify the right-click menu using registry edits that I found online. They would add to the registry successfully, but would not appear in the right-click menu. I also tried to delete the graphic preferences, which worked, but after rebooting, they reappeared again. Does Windows 7 finally allow me to disable this "feature"? It's one of the few things which I have an irrational hate for. If I want to rename the file I will use the rightclick context menu. PLEASE. I only use the left mouse button for two things:selecting something and doubleclicking to open something.

I blieve it may be linked to the new video card that I installed. After I changed the stock video graphics card that came with this HP desktop station (Win 7 64-bit), this started happening. I changed the video card to yet another one - the problem still there..
I need to remove all the most visited pages which you get when you right click on the quick launch icon. I have cleared all the data "from the beginning of the time" several times but no use. All the pages come back after Windows is restarted.I have also reinstalled chrome & waterfox but they all come back after a reboot.I have tried CCLeaner and Glary Utilities as well...But none helped?

It's something I thought could be useful for some people You know how you can shift+right click on items in windows explorer to get added options? Well, the same command works on jump lists, except with some useful added functionality.I remember at least one forum member having mentioned that the reason they misses quicklaunch is that they could drag and drop files onto an app to open said files with said app. Well, although this doesn't completely cover that problem, as you have to use the keyboard, it sure does help.Lets say you have 10 images you want to edit in a program, but you dont feel like opening up the program and then searching for the files, because you already have the folder with the files open in explorer. Normally, if you right click on the item in a jumplist that represents the application itself, you only get a tiny context menu with 3 or four options. I was messing around and saw that if you hold shift while you right click, you will get a full host of options like one might when browsing in windows explorer. So if I want to edit those ten images in GIMP for example, I can select the images, right click and press copy, open the jumplist for GIMP, and hold down on shift while I right click on the GIMP program in the jumplist. Now the right click menu gives me the option to Paste, so I select paste, and voila, my 10 images open in GIMP.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to disable those jump lists, now we all know about the Right-Click ones, but there is other type witch i want to disable completely - the Left mouse click jump lists - it happen when you left clicking more then 1 second and sort of drag it up without the purpose to it. im using 7 Taskber Tweaker witch doing the job for the right click only but not the left (left just for Grouped button - but its not what i talking about here) there is no just left option.
P.S. - ive seen that those lists that im talking about often called "Lists Mode" i think, and presist also in any theme and are left click & drag based. there is got to be a solution for that.

When I go to an album folder from my computer, highlight all the songs, then go to right-click and play. Problem: If I highlight more than 15 to play, instead of 'Open' (which opens MediaMonkey, as that's the program I've chosen for these types of files)...it says "Add to Windows Media Player list".

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt is very strange. If I right click right now anywhere it will work. When I am in any game, however, it acts very strange. The right click sometimes does not register, and other times will be inconsistent.
For example, if I have to hold down the right button for me to eat a jelly bean, it will cancel mid hold, as if I had let go. This all started happening after an episode where I accidentally messed with sticky keys.
I have a problem my new folder right click is gone and when I go to my downloads and try to make new folder in window nothing showing up.

The desktop icons can't be used I can't click or select any icon, also right click of the mouse doesn't work. I can right click on the taskbar or in windows explorer but not on the desktop. Whenever I go into the Recycle Bin to permanently delete files, when I right click, it freezes up and gives me the message "Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working" then it proceeds to "Windows Explorer Is Restarting" Now I can delete files just fine when I'm on the desktop and simply right click, and choose Empty Recycle bin off of the Recycle Bin icon.
