since I accepted the update to Microsoft Windows 7 Essentials 2011, the "fix" photo button has disappeared. This used to be essential to tidy up photos that I imported from my camera.I even uninstalled windows essentials and still no joy.
View 1 RepliesYesterday I went to click on my photo file which has all my photos from as far back as 2006 and I clicked the mouse button fast and the file was gone. I hope I can recover it. It's all of my family photos. The file is on an external hard drive and not my computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI changed the 'open with' of my .001 file into shell32.dll (I went to system 32 and just typed it in). I did this by right clicking the file, went to properties, then at Open With, clicked Change, then browsed over to Windows32 for shell32.dll by typing it in the file box and clicked enter. Now I regret my actions and want to change it back to its default original (which was: Windows Shell Common DLL). Now the menus and stuff on the files' Properties is totally different. And what's more, the Open with change button and all is gone! How do I put it back to the way it was?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSomething happened. Many of my icons do not work any more. I thing I have tracked it down to XPS Viewer. I get the following message:
"Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because either this photo viewer doesn't support this file format or you don't have the latest update to Photo Viewer."
The problem came out of nowhere but.. I was working with pictures and might have deleted something on the lower task bar. Adobe has disappeared too. Was going to try to update it but it is no longer on my desktop????
Is there any photo editing software comparable to the old Adobe PhotoDeluxe. I have tried Gimp, Picasso and paid for other versions of Adobe. None are as user friendly and have the editing tools that PhotoDeluxe had.
View 5 Replies View RelatedExplorer won't update thumbnails after I alter a photo, for example by rotating sideways photos (that is, permanently rotating, using a photo editor program), or by cropping.
How do I get the thumbnails to update?
This is happening for all photos (not just certain ones).
I have tried:
- View > Refresh
- Copying the photos to a new folder and renaming them. Even if a photo has been drastically cropped, the thumbnail is still showing the original, whole one - that is, it's showing parts of the file that DON'T EVEN EXIST
- Entirely disabling the thumbnail cache: Group Policy Editor > 'Turn off caching of thumbnails in hidden thumbs.db files'. This *must* force Windows to redraw the thumbnail - but it doesn't!
- Restarting computer after each of the above steps
Win 7 Pro, 64 bit. Photos are jpegs from a new digital camera.
my win 7 photo viewer does the weirdest thing!! when i view my photos and rotate them and close the viewer, they disappear from my folder where they were originally stored in. i've checked my deleted items. no luck. searched whole pc for edited files and names of files that disappeared. no luck there either. i tested it on my hubby's pc. exact same result there.

View 1 Replies View Relatedrecently I used a software AVG PC Tuneup and it has never been a problem for me until a couple of days ago when I decided to install it on my DELL. Now, I went to system advisory and did a system scan on recommended settings, I pressed 'fix selected' and my Wifi was disabled, I tried everything. I can't get my wifi to work without plugging in my modem directly ot my pc. I noticed my wifi radio was disabled, so I pressed the F2 button but nothing worked. I am trying to re enable my wifi radio / wireless radio connection button but it won't work.
My program intel my wifi utility tells me my wifi is disabled but I can't enable it.

When she arrived at her destinaction it did not work. According to the Geek squad, the hardware works fine, but there is not an operation system on the laptop. The laptop did not come with discs, but it has the Windows 7 label on the back with the product code. But when emailing Micrsoft support, they only want the PID which can't be retrieved from a computer that doesn't have an operating system.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, I'm on Home Premium 64 bit, and today everything was working just fine. After one reboot, nearly all the icons on my desktop were blank. As in, the individual icon pictures were just default. Every program I try to open all pops up with "Such and such file has been moved or Deleted" When running programs manually, I keep coming up with "Cannot run .ini or something to that effect if that helps. . The only thing I can get to work are Malwarebytes, Avira and Internet Explorer so far that I can find. No viruses have been detected by either of the scans and I just have no idea what to do from here. All MP3 files are also useless due to every media player that I have now appearing missing including WMP, Winamp, ITunes and such.
I really have no idea what to do here. The last thing I'd want is to have to format the computer. I have one 4gig thumb drive to back up some things, but that's about all I have. If those files aren't corrupted as well. I have no way of opening them to see.Tried a system restore before posting this and the restore failed.I know I am probably not providing all the information that I can, but if you need any more, please let me know. I'll be monitoring this thread all day.
I have had Windows 7 installed on my PC.Last night I installed Windows XP Professional (as i have some programs that do not work on 7) on my PC. I had intended it to be a sort of double boot with Windows 7 i.e. i wanted to have a boot selecter where i can choose whether to boot XP or 7. However my PC now directly boots into XP and does not allow me boot into 7.Is there a way to re-insert Windows 7 into the mbr so that i can have a choose which OS i want to boot?.

She admits to having 'fiddled' with the networking applets in Control Panel with the result that neither LAN nor Wi-fi functions any more.I have noticed that I am unable to use the GUI to access IPv4 Properties because the button is greyed out. Also greyed out is Uninstall. The only button available is Install. I have tried that, but after rebooting the situation appears to be the same. I have tried using the command prompt as Administrator and using NETSH to uninstall IP, install it, reset it etc, rebooting every time but without any noticeable change afterwards. Also tried NETSH WINSOCK RESET after the above. I have also tried the above in recovery mode with networking enabled. Again, no change!Unfortunately, the model does not have a CD drive. However, it has USB ports. Fortunately, I do have a generic 32-bit Win 7 Home Premium CD - which is the operating system installed on the PC. So I could copy the CD in one way or another to an external USB drive and work from that if necessary. If I knew what I had to do!There is a lot of valuable data on the PC and I don't want to be responsible for losing it. Of course, I could try backing it all up but she has saved stuff all over the place and I am bound to miss something! Yes, I could copy the entire disk ...... I know!! Every time i try to put a picture as the wallpaper an error message comes up saying "this photo cannot be set as wallpaper" and when i try to change the theme the window color at the bottom is the only thing that changes.

View 6 Replies View Relatedmy computer last night randomly shut off while loading a tv show off Internet. upon restarting windows failed to boot. when prompted with restore and recovery it failed. unable to access safe mode and when it says it is recovering it just says it is finished with no progress restarts to no avail. upon looking at command prompt diskpart, my c partition(30gb) no longer is visible or exists. this is where my windows seven was stored. so i now only have my e drive partition which is a (1 tb drive) repairs do not work, the only option i have is to install on my e drive which warns me it will overwrite my data. i would like my c drive back and be able to boot successfully.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy sister sends me jpeg photos from her phone as attachments in gmail. In the email, the preview pic looks normal. When I click View, the pic is enlarged, but flipped 90 degrees. If I download the pic, it's flipped 90 degrees. If I open the pic in windows live photo gallery, I can rotate it, but will get a bunch of pop up error messages saying This photo cannot be saved because of a problem with the photo's file properties. Then it says there's a problem with windows live photo gallery and shuts down. This pic flipping in gmail started about a week ago. Previously her pics displayed correctly. She says she's doing nothing out of the ordinary. I just tried loading the photo into MsPaint. I was able to rotate it and save it.
