View 1 Repliesi recently got a computer from my aunt, and decided to put windows 7 on it. Before I installed it, I put in a Geforce 8800 graphics card and a (2nd) cd rom drive. After 20 failed attempts to install windows 7 (it kept freezing at the completing installation part) it worked after i disconnected the new graphics card and one of the hard drives. Now, however, i keep on getting periodic blue screens with the following error messages : Memory Management, and PFN_List Corrupt. I ran a memory diagnostic and it said that the memory is fine. What is wrong with my computer? I also ran a system repair thing from the windows 7 disk, and it came up with this error: System File Integrity Check and Repair Error Code 0X490
My Hardware is:
AMD Anthlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
2 Hitachi HDT725032VLA SCSI 320 gb hard drives
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GS Graphics Card
3gb of system memory
I have a Sony Vaio Z VPCZ128 GG laptop with windows 7 professional preinstalled. I use a 3G usb modem to connect. Everything worked fine until a few weeks ago. Now when I try to open any dialup connection I get the error: Cannot load the remote access connection manager service. Error 711: the operation could not finish because it could not start the remote access connection manager service in time. Please try the operation again. See attached image. My services are as follows:
1. Remote access connection manager. Not started
2. Secure socket tunneling protocol service. Started
3. Telephony. Started When I try to start the Remote access connection manager, I get the error: Windows could not start the Remote access connection manager service on local computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified. See attached image. Is there any way to solve the problem without having to reinstall or upgrade windows?

View 2 Replies View Relatedthe tip to run SFC -- I'm not sure where the 'command prompt' is now in Windows 7.
What I did was search for sfc, right click, then run as administrator.
It appears something is running, but no window opened to ask or tell me anything. I checked Task Mgr and Resource Monitor and can't find anything resembling SFC, but there is activity even tho' I'm not doing anything else. The hard drive light is also flickering about once per second. What should I expect? Do I just wait patiently? How can I confirm SFC is running and fixing any errors?
I have this laptop with Windows 7 as the operating system and with a capacity of 500 GB. My HDD was making loud noises and weird noises so I brought it to the shop and they told me to change the HDD because it might die anytime. So I did a full backup on my external hard disk, meaning that I cloned my laptop. I changed my 500gb HDD with a 240gb SSD. And when I tried to restore my backup files into the new drive, there's an error: "no disk that can be used for recovering the system disk can be found".
So I did some research on the internet and found out the reason of the error: it's because the image created was from a bigger drive than the new drive I put into my laptop. Even though my backup files are only about 100gb, I still cant restore it to my 240gb SSD because the image created was from my 500gb HDD. I am going to copy my backup files into an external hardisk with a capacity of 200gb and then backup from that drive and then I will restore it into my 240gb SSD. Will the backup file be considered as a backup from the 200gb drive or from the original 500gb HDD?
Secondly, I'm having a few problems. I recently purchased a new laptop and was transferring files from the old ones hard drive using an enclosure. I somehow deleted my Videos and Documents sections on my new laptop. I can't paste anything, or move anything into these locations. I also can't create a new folder without getting a File System Error (512).
When I look at the properties of them, I can see that only the "public" locations are visible (Already tried resetting defaults by the way). I took a snap shot of the comparison between the music and video properties. How do I get that other location back?
We recently installed Yahoo messenger and suddenly the Library folder isn't showing any folders/files under the Administrator account. When I go to create a new Library it reads the following error message: "Unable to create the new file 'New Library.library-ms' File System Error: (16389)." Not only is the library no longer accessible, but I cannot access any of the Music, Pictures or Documents from the Start Menu.I am only able to access the folders using the search bar by selecting "User Name" from the drop down box, then suddenly everything's there. It will not allow me to drag/drop anything into the Library folder or even create a new one.

This is only my computer, everything else works fine (If internet is out, our TV's don't work)When I go to my little internet icon in the taskbar, it says Unidentified Network and I have no internet access what so ever.When I run CMD and use ipconfig /release I get this:"An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file specified."I also got this error before:"An error occurred while releasing interface Local Area Connection : An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint." Tech support kept telling me to use ipconfig /flushdns but whenever I entered it into CMD it gave me an error saying something along the lines of "command unrecognized" I cannot give you guys the full text of what CMD says since it's on a different computer.I am using a direct ethernet cord, not wireless.
* ipconfig /release and /renew and /flushdns
* Turn off firewall
* Update and Reinstall Driver
* Restarting my modem/router
* Restarting my computer
* Unplugging my ethernet cord and replugging it (also leaving it unplugged over-night)

I installed Win 7 and if i try to open my computer of click on desktop and open up screen resolution etc. I get "Explorer.exe -Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I did a search but could not find anything related to this error in Win 7. I have found some others attached to Win XP but have to do with the installation of some software which prevents access to explorer.exe. When I boot in safe mode this issue does not appear...
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I found a post on this forum with a similar problem. I'm trying to move a file that is larger than 4GB in size from my main hard drive to an external, and getting the error message in the title. The consensus on the other post was that the hard drive must have been a FAT format, and that too fix the problem either split up the file or reformat the hard drive as NTFS.Well, by all accounts, my computer is telling me that my external hard drive is ALREADY formatted as NTFS, but I'm still getting this error. I would prefer not to split up the file, but other than that, what are my options?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently whenever I've used an .exe installer I'll get an error as soon as I click start after choosing the directory, in the picture example I include below, it's of SA-MP, but it happens with any installer I try and use. Installers have worked previously, it's only recently it's stopped working.The error is;Error opening files for writing?
What I've tried;
-Full system scan with Comodo AV.
-Revealed hidden files and folders.
-Run the installer in both compatability (Even though it does work on Windows 7, and as an Administrator).
-Also done the scan on CMD (can't remember exact command).
Brief Info:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
How can I fix the run-time 75 error - path/file access error in windows 7?

I get the error message "autochk program not found" then stop: c000021a Fatal System Error. I have run System Recovery several times to no avail. I tried to do a repair using the Win 7 DVD, but that didn't work either.

All goes well, it installs everything, but as it finished I get this error: I have tried redownloading, using other installers and updating my graphics drivers. Nothing will work. It's probably worth mentioning that the first time I tried installing, about a week ago, my computer totally froze in the middle of the install and I had to force restart.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIf I try to install a driver and not all of the driver files are present, I will get the error message "The system cannot find the file specified." But the problem is that it doesn't actually tell me what file it can't find. There is a large empty space right underneath the error, as if something should be in that spot, but the file name is not listed there.(The above example is if you were to update the driver manually. Like if you were to click 'Update Driver', then 'Browse my computer for driver software', then 'Browse' to the directory with the INF file in it, and then click 'Next'.)In Windows XP, if you received the same error, it would show you the name of the missing file.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using a Gparted boot CD (on my other computer) to create a new partition to install Windows 7. It has an option where you select a file system for your new partition, and I'm not entirely sure what this means.
The partition for my Windows XP installation uses a "ntfs" file system, so should I use that or leave it "unformatted"?
I'm really not sure where to post this, so I apologize in advance if I should have put it somewhere else, and trust that someone will move it to where it belongs.First, a little about my home setup: My family has a mix of machines on our network, running XP, Vista, and Windows 7 (plus one rarely used machine running W95 for an old favorite game we can't get to run properly on anything newer). Years ago, when replacing an old XP machine, instead of just trashing it, I decided to reconfigure it as an El Cheapo file server, reinstalling XP from scratch and adding a large (for the time) hard drive, most of which is shared over the network. Over time, I've continued to add disk space as needed, but kept to a minimal OS install.Now, most of our family has come to rely on this shared storage space, as a means of accessing their stuff from whoever's computer happens to be closest instead of having to run to their own machine all the time to get things done. However, in the past month or so, I've had three instances where important, frequently edited files have had to be rebuilt from backups because of various communications errors or other glitches that occurred while saving updates to them.I've come to the conclusion that it's probably time to demote some other machine to this file server role (which I'll probably be doing some time after the Christmas gifts are opened ), but it seems inevitable that THAT machine will also start acting flaky some years from now, and cause some future files to need to be similarly reconstructed. My question is, can I get and configure some sort of versioning file system for this machine so that with minimal (ideally no) forethought on the part of the end users, any file that is updated has the previous version automatically saved under an alternate name, and if another glitch occurs, we won't have to reconstruct more than the last session's worth of changes to it?
