i just downloaded fallout 3 and i think i have pinpointed the problem, i just need someone to refresh my memory, it said to go 2 controll panel and do something with direct x 3 and i got off steam

I cant get my 6 GB of corsair 1600Mhz memory to show it says i only have 4GB... also Fallout 3 and the DLCs are giving me a ton of ***. on canirunit.com it says its my OS and only my OS (((everything in my rig is over kill for thi game))) so it cant be my parts. and it cant be the OS because ive played it perfectly fine 2 times just testing it. all the DLC's popped up when i got out of the vault everything... OR should i just buy the Fallout 3 GOTY? instead? and if so would that even work?

I have successfully installed the game and can play it for about 2-3 minutes before it crashes. Nothing can get me out of the crash except ctrl alt delete. I have gotten the updated version 1.7 but the problem still continues.

Happens every 3-5 seconds or so and it's just a quick blip if you will. Never had any issues with this title before and I can play Borderlands and Crysis smooth as butter. Anyone know if Fallout has some issue with Windows 7?

I bought it on Steam.I was able to play the game from disk and not GoTY, without any DLCs about a year ago on the same system - Windows 7 x64. I bought the game recently because I lost my disk. I've reinstalled Windows in the meantime once.I've got DirectX installed when launching games on Steam, also installed using a webinstall from MS website recently, so it's up-to-date. There is no other game that crashes too. My Nvidia drivers are latest version also.I've tried reinstalling the game but it still didn't work. I've tried deleting F3 folder from My Documents which also didn't help.I've tried compatibility modes and "Run as Administrator" function, neither did help.I haven't changed anything in my hardware so it's not hardware-related.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have been spending alot of time on this problem, and everything does not seem to work. i have windows 7 home premium 64-bit, with a AMD Phenom II 945 Quad-Core processor. my graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 5450, with an intergrated sound card and 8gb ddr3 memory. generaly, a problem arises within 20 mins of gameplay (does not matter if im outside or inside), and presents itself either as a crash-to-desktop or a freeze. also i am not playing with any mods or DLC's or with New Vegas i have tried many fixes; i have set the INI to use only 2 (then 1 processor), disabled all autosaves, downloaded/installed the d3d9 file, changed windows color scheme to "basic", i have updated all my video card drivers, i am not aware of any codecs being used on my system (did a file search, came up w/ nothing), running as administrator, allowed all premissions (its even installed in my documents, NOT program files), and even now i still have this problem. however, i can also play Oblivion w/ about 300 mods and i can play pretty comfortably. on top of that (even though i dont have the most recent games) Fallout 3 is the only problem.

When I install a game in Windows 7 and Windows recognizes it it dumps the game's shortcut in the Game folder of the Start Menu. That wouldn't be a problem except Windows 7 prevents the game from creating the shortcuts it would have created had the operating system not been Windows 7- things like the game's Read Me, Uninstaller & Configuration options.

I wanted to create a partition for games at the beggining of the 2nd drive (the left side) as i heard it increased performance to put games in anoher drive and at the beggining of the drive.Will it make difference to make a partition at the beginning or at the end of this drive when it comes to gaming performance?My cousin showed me one game in the same drive installed in the 1st of four partitions of a 500gb 7200rpm (the same i have) performing with 3-5 fps more than that game installed in the 4th partition of that same drive....

It won't even let me install the game the first time I tried it started installing but then it froze and crashed. And now when I try to install it, when the screen comes up after you except the terms and conditions it asks you to choose a saving folder for the game, and the continue button is grey (inactive), so I can't install it!!
I figured it's not compatible, how do I make it compatible?
I tried going to 'my computer' after I inserted the disk and right clicking 'properties' but there isn't anything about compatibility.

It started with the screen flipping back to desktop, as though ALT TAB had been pressed, no error messages,i just clicked the MTW2 icon on the side bar and returned to the game.Next the above mentioned behaviour started being accompanied by a message saying. "MM driver has stopped working" - since yesterday this message has stopped appearing.Last 2 days, whilst on the battle screen MTW2 just crashes with the Win 7 message box that says.this program has stopped working. It crashes all the time know whilst playing, but not immediatly, about after 15 - 20 minuetes on the battle map.Other events.Recently on boot up a box entitled "AML device install" would briefly appear after windows has loaded, i have disabled this in MSCONFIG - following web site advice. Power cable from wall socket to PSU blew, never had this before, simply replaced it. It was about 5 years old.
Is there a way to run a windows 98 game on Windows 7? I tried running the game on Win XP on virtual machine, it worked, but the graphics were messed up. I don't have a 98 disk.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have windows 7 64bit, Well I found out that ACT OF WAR cannot be played with windows7 that is over 2 GB of ram. On here I have 6Gigs So I found a solution to this problem by going to my system config,Boot, Advanced options. There I had brought my maximum memory from 6144 which was what it came with to 2000 which it is at now. And I applied it, an restarted my comp, and wonderfully my game worked. Now that I am no longer playing the game I wanted to bring the maximum memory back up to 6144 again. But every time I do change it through the ms config option, it just goes back to 2000 after saving and re-starting the computer. I have tried it 5 times, I select the maximum memory 6144 and save and restart but it kepps on reverting back to 2000 ?So my question is/ Is this a problem? and how can I bring it back up to the original 6144 or 6 gigs of ram ?
