View 2 RepliesI am having problems with Windows Media Center being recognized in my computer...I am having to use an external disc player to play dvd's. Cd's play fine, I am able to use my built in disc drive (in the tower/box), but I have no idea as to why it has stopped recognizing dvd's and not allowing Windows Media Center to play them, it used to. I can use Windows Media Player for ripping an burning music, etc. but not WMC!

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently my disk drive has been playing only audio cds and not dvds or game cds. I have used my disk drive cleaner ers are all updated and my devices are working properly. When I place a dvd or game cd in it, it makes the dreaded clicking sounds, then stops, then says "insert a disk in drive F." My computer has two devices:

My DVD rom drive will not read dvds or dvd software but it will play cds, This has happened before to me but I was able to call someone, It happened after I Uninstalled Norton and I had to remove a key and restart the laptop up and it worked, But I cannot remember for the life of me on how to do it again, I Uninstalled Avg then reinstalled it since then my drive hasn't been playing dvds just cds. I know This is probably the same as what has happened before, I know I have to go into regedit but not sure where to go after that

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it true that I need 3rd party software installed in order to play DVDs via the Windows Media Player. I seems to me that when I tried this I got a message to that effect. So, I have to purchase something like WinDVD or PowerDVD before I can watch a DVD movie???? $200 for Windows 7 and I got to spend more bucks to enhance the Media Player???? I must be dreaming!
View 9 Replies View RelatedDvd drive acting strangely. It will burn anything, cds or dvds. It will read dvds burned from laptop. It will not play any commercial dvd. I have tried old dvds and new ones, still nothing. I first tried uninstalling the drive, didn't work. Also tried deleting the upper and lower filters, still nothing. Then did a total recovery of the OS, still nothing. I'm at a loss. This drive is 2 years old, which isn't that old. I've pulled out the drive and made sure the terminals were clean, and that still didn't fix it.

The problem is, my TV only has two HD ports and I have three things to connect to it: TelusTV box, Blu-ray player, and computer. I don't want to have to leave the computer unlocked for all to access, but I'd like it to be as easy as possible for anyone to instantly start playing a disk, preferably without logging into a guest account first.

WMP does not give me any error message; it just abruptly stops playing the DVD and the DVD title becomes "Unknown DVD". However, when I disconnect my sound card, DVDs play as per normal.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can play most DVDs without any bother with VLC. I recently got 'The World at War - Ultimate Restored Edition', but the discs won't play!
First, VLC just wouldn't open the DVD. I kept trying, and eventually it opened the DVD, but the audio and video were massively choppy.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalled VLC. Now the audio and video are distinctly less choppy, but it's still very irritating.
It's just these DVDs, and I don't get what's different about them!
I need a driver to play the videos and ultimate record them onto dvds

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded the Windows 8 ISO and its size is 2.52 GB But all the DVDs here in Egypt at the area where I live is crap, they sell PRINCO DVDs and it has 4.7 GB / 120 Min on it but when I insert it into the drive, it reads 1.31 GB. Very strange!!
In this case, can I split the ISO Image and make the Windows 8 into two 2 separate DVDs? If so, how will the installation look like when I install the Windows using 2 DVDs?

I can get it to work with streams off of website like own3d.tv and twitch.tv, and I can even run the streams in full screen. However when I try to run a movie through jet audio or even just play music through zune player, they freeze up. The audio will still come through, but either the picture is frozen in place or the zune player seems to get frozen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust built my new computer but realized that I can't use the same Windows 7 disc/cd-key that's on my old computer because it's only one per computer when I thought it was 3.Looking at the prices on the Windows 7, it costs $119 for upgrade and $200 for full retail. From what I have read, when installing using the upgrade disc, it would detect my previous Windows version and if it's older than XP, or if there's no Windows installed, it would not activate Windows as it isn't a proper license and I would need the full retail one.
