WMM is the only one that will actually open the DVD, but when it does the video in very pixelated and the audio is choppy.I can play downloaded files and films off netflix.I'm running on Windows 7?

I know This is probably the same as what has happened before, I know I have to go into regedit but not sure where to go after that
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with Windows Media Center being recognized in my computer...I am having to use an external disc player to play dvd's. Cd's play fine, I am able to use my built in disc drive (in the tower/box), but I have no idea as to why it has stopped recognizing dvd's and not allowing Windows Media Center to play them, it used to. I can use Windows Media Player for ripping an burning music, etc. but not WMC!
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have power dvd which plays back the dvds fine, so i know they work. but only in wmp12 and windows media centre they do not play back. they both have the exact same problem, it detects the dvd. looks as though it's about to play it but nothing. screen remains black, no sound, doesn't display how long the movie goes for so i cant press play. and no error message! very confusin.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it true that I need 3rd party software installed in order to play DVDs via the Windows Media Player. I seems to me that when I tried this I got a message to that effect. So, I have to purchase something like WinDVD or PowerDVD before I can watch a DVD movie???? $200 for Windows 7 and I got to spend more bucks to enhance the Media Player???? I must be dreaming!

View 2 Replies View RelatedDvd drive acting strangely. It will burn anything, cds or dvds. It will read dvds burned from laptop. It will not play any commercial dvd. I have tried old dvds and new ones, still nothing. I first tried uninstalling the drive, didn't work. Also tried deleting the upper and lower filters, still nothing. Then did a total recovery of the OS, still nothing. I'm at a loss. This drive is 2 years old, which isn't that old. I've pulled out the drive and made sure the terminals were clean, and that still didn't fix it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMovies autoplay fine as well as CDs, but if I insert a DVD to install a new program, it just won't autoplay. I have gone to the control panel and set it to autoplay all media as well as to autoplay install DVDs, but it doesn't make a difference. WIndows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Why would that be?
I have my computer set up as a HTPC and is connected to my HDTV. The problem is, my TV only has two HD ports and I have three things to connect to it: TelusTV box, Blu-ray player, and computer. I don't want to have to leave the computer unlocked for all to access, but I'd like it to be as easy as possible for anyone to instantly start playing a disk, preferably without logging into a guest account first.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an external USB soundcard (Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6), and it has come to my attention that I am completely unable to play DVDs on my computer when my soundcard is connected. WMP does not give me any error message; it just abruptly stops playing the DVD and the DVD title becomes "Unknown DVD". However, when I disconnect my sound card, DVDs play as per normal.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can play most DVDs without any bother with VLC. I recently got 'The World at War - Ultimate Restored Edition', but the discs won't play!
First, VLC just wouldn't open the DVD. I kept trying, and eventually it opened the DVD, but the audio and video were massively choppy.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalled VLC. Now the audio and video are distinctly less choppy, but it's still very irritating.
It's just these DVDs, and I don't get what's different about them!
Recently my disk drive has been playing only audio cds and not dvds or game cds. I have used my disk drive cleaner ers are all updated and my devices are working properly. When I place a dvd or game cd in it, it makes the dreaded clicking sounds, then stops, then says "insert a disk in drive F." My computer has two devices:
Hitachi HTS725025A9A364 SATA Disk Device: CdRom Device
I need a driver to play the videos and ultimate record them onto dvds

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust built my new computer but realized that I can't use the same Windows 7 disc/cd-key that's on my old computer because it's only one per computer when I thought it was 3.Looking at the prices on the Windows 7, it costs $119 for upgrade and $200 for full retail. From what I have read, when installing using the upgrade disc, it would detect my previous Windows version and if it's older than XP, or if there's no Windows installed, it would not activate Windows as it isn't a proper license and I would need the full retail one.

View 9 Replies View RelatedFrom what I can see, this seems to be a fairly common problem across computers...My Dell Inspiron n5010 (Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) sporadically won't read DVDs. A couple of nights ago, it took a couple of tries - last night, I couldn't get it play one at all.Having looked for various fixes, I have tried the following:-Updating drivers-Disabling and re-enabling the drive in device manager-Going into the registry to remove recommended entries (high/low filters i think? I only had the "high" option, which apparently means that fix isn't for me...)-Uninstalling any DVD-burning software that may be interfering with my laptop's own DVD player/software.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I start playing music (VLC) my laptop restarts. I have been experiencing this for more than a month. Tried reinstalling drivers and even Win7 but nothing seems to help. Previously it used to give me a BSOD restart but since the last time I reinstalled Win7 after formatting the laptop it just restarts and asks me whether I want to start windows in safe mode or normally. This is really disastrous since I am used to continuous music.

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.
I have dos box and it's still not working!! I would of assumed windows 7 would of had a program installed that would automatically allow you to play these games? What do i need to do? I'm not always keen or too confident at changing my computers settings is there a laymans guide at all?
