View 8 Replies View Relatedi'm using vlc to record a part of my favorite videos so i can upload them on Internet. there's a small problem, when i try to record hd videos i get a crappy quality, however the original video has a very good quality, consider the following video:
the original video, the one that i record this part from is having a very good quality (hd 720p), it's in mkv format and i guess it's x264. why do i get this quality?
i did the same thing with a non-hd video and it worked better: how can i record with the best quality? at least a quality as same as the original one?
How do I record videos (on screen) while maintaining best quality? should I be using a certain codec in Camtasia or what?
General information:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bits)
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Processor @3.20 GHz

My DVD rom drive will not read dvds or dvd software but it will play cds, This has happened before to me but I was able to call someone, It happened after I Uninstalled Norton and I had to remove a key and restart the laptop up and it worked, But I cannot remember for the life of me on how to do it again, I Uninstalled Avg then reinstalled it since then my drive hasn't been playing dvds just cds. I know This is probably the same as what has happened before, I know I have to go into regedit but not sure where to go after that
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with Windows Media Center being recognized in my computer...I am having to use an external disc player to play dvd's. Cd's play fine, I am able to use my built in disc drive (in the tower/box), but I have no idea as to why it has stopped recognizing dvd's and not allowing Windows Media Center to play them, it used to. I can use Windows Media Player for ripping an burning music, etc. but not WMC!

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it true that I need 3rd party software installed in order to play DVDs via the Windows Media Player. I seems to me that when I tried this I got a message to that effect. So, I have to purchase something like WinDVD or PowerDVD before I can watch a DVD movie???? $200 for Windows 7 and I got to spend more bucks to enhance the Media Player???? I must be dreaming!

View 2 Replies View RelatedDvd drive acting strangely. It will burn anything, cds or dvds. It will read dvds burned from laptop. It will not play any commercial dvd. I have tried old dvds and new ones, still nothing. I first tried uninstalling the drive, didn't work. Also tried deleting the upper and lower filters, still nothing. Then did a total recovery of the OS, still nothing. I'm at a loss. This drive is 2 years old, which isn't that old. I've pulled out the drive and made sure the terminals were clean, and that still didn't fix it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my computer set up as a HTPC and is connected to my HDTV. The problem is, my TV only has two HD ports and I have three things to connect to it: TelusTV box, Blu-ray player, and computer. I don't want to have to leave the computer unlocked for all to access, but I'd like it to be as easy as possible for anyone to instantly start playing a disk, preferably without logging into a guest account first.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an external USB soundcard (Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6), and it has come to my attention that I am completely unable to play DVDs on my computer when my soundcard is connected. WMP does not give me any error message; it just abruptly stops playing the DVD and the DVD title becomes "Unknown DVD". However, when I disconnect my sound card, DVDs play as per normal.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can play most DVDs without any bother with VLC. I recently got 'The World at War - Ultimate Restored Edition', but the discs won't play!
First, VLC just wouldn't open the DVD. I kept trying, and eventually it opened the DVD, but the audio and video were massively choppy.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalled VLC. Now the audio and video are distinctly less choppy, but it's still very irritating.
It's just these DVDs, and I don't get what's different about them!

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe problem occurs when I am playing streaming videos from thedailyshow.com and colbertnation.com. The audio seems to come through properly. but the video is messed up. every half a second or so, it plays a few frames from a fraction of a second before. I wish I could explain this better but it basically ruins the video. the ads that play before the actual clips play just fine. I have not been able to reproduce this problem on any desktop or laptop that I have been able to get my hands on.
