I bought a used toshiba L455 that has Ubuntu OS so I have downloaded a digital copy of windows 7, burned it to a disc but haven't used it yet because I'm afraid that I might mess something up.. the file is an iso file so when I stick it in the cd drive and use it, will it actually install windows 7? Or should I just buy the actual windows 7 discs? I also have the product key so I can activate it.

I get an error..."C:windowssystem32GetUName.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error". Is there a safe place to download a new copy of the dll and once downloaded, how do I replace the copy that is there? The system does not let me (I'm an administrator) even change the name, let alone try to move the file elsewhere or delete it. Is there a way to get the file from my original DVD? When I put the DVD in, it just wants to do an install of the system and I certainly don't want to do that, just a single file.

"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card."
so i upgraded my samsung SH-S162L's firmware, and the DVD worked. 5 minutes ago, i put the DVD in again and i got the same message.
what do you guys think? is my dvd drive dying? no changes to the system were made after upgrading the firmware... nothing.
I've recently switched to Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (High Definition Audio Device) using one Toslink cable instead of all the analog wires going from my PC to my receiver.The digital sound is amazing, CD quality from my PC is great.However, I now also receive the digitized sound of pages being loaded as I surf the web. All sound comes out digitized when loading a new page.Is there a way to stop this from happening while listening to music or course material without gong back to analog?Can I have my digital CD quality and enjoy it too!

Now, I want to copy the data from one drive to the second drive but I have to be sure I have a perfect copy of the data. The data is mostly songs movies and documents. I'm using windows 7.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem to connect to a network's printer LaserJet 2100 series PCL 6 (the server's OS is Windows XP 32bit) to my deksktop PC (Windows 7 Pro 64bit). It says that it can't locate a suitable driver, regardless I already downloaded the drivers LaserJet2100-Windows 7 (64bit) from the HP official website.
I did also try to 'add a printer' -> 'add a local printer' -> and then install a printer driver for HP Laserjet 2100 PCL 6. Seems to me that probably I already have this driver downloaded into my computer, but I just don't know where Windows 7 save this downloaded driver. If only I could locate the driver, I might be able to locate it manually and used for the network's printer.
where the location of the downloaded driver, e.g. somewhere in the Computer> C: > Windows >..., from 'add a local printer'?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I get Windows 7 to name copied files using the scheme "Copy of" (used in Windows XP and earlier) instead of the default scheme "- Copy", whenever a file is copied to the same directory as the original file?In other words, if you copy a file named "Foo.txt" in a directory to the same directory, Windows XP would have named that file "Copy of Foo.txt", but Windows 7 names the file "Foo - Copy.txt". I want the copy to be named "Copy of Foo.txt".There are several reasons why I prefer the XP style file name:
1. It is familiar :-)
2. I have existing files that use the XP style file names, and I want all my file copies to use the same naming scheme. I guess I can do a massive file rename across all my backups, but that would solve only one of my problems.
3. Most of my folders are sorted by name, and using XP style would sort all copies together. On other forums it has been suggested that one can simply sort by date (to get the copies sorted together), but that advice assumes that all copies are created after all other files are created, which is actually not often the case.
4. I often work with long file names, which means that the end of the file name is often obscured, unless I have wide windows (not always possible) and use lots of horizontal scrolling every time I want to select a file. Hovering over a file to get its full name is a cumbersome solution.
5. On other forums some have given the advice to always make copies in subfolders, but I often make copies or copies of copies while I work (it allows me to roll back or to check earlier versions of a file quickly, during my work), and using subfolders would slow me down tremendously (not to mention confuse me).
I know that when TeraCopy is made the copy handler, it renames files in a different way than Windows 7 does, though unfortunately not the way Windows XP did it. Also, if one installs a third-party directory program such as Opus, it asks for a file name every time a copy is made, but I need something that simply names the file correctly immediately.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi just downloaded flash player 11 on my computer with windows 7 operating system. after i restarted the computer, i began having problems with the playing of some online videos. some played fine, while others just left a solid black screen on the screen. when i clicked around on the solid black screen, and got the video to where it was "full screen", the video played fine. however, the video would not play unless it was on "full screen."
the smaller screen on the webpage would remain black and i couldn't see the video. it was very strange also, that i could hear the audio, but couldn't see any video. it is also very strange that not all the online videos did this. there doesn't seem to be any pattern as to whether or not the videos reacted this way. some c-span, Internet, etc. videos worked fine, while others didn't. prior to downloading flash player 11 i never had this problem.
On my new Windows 7, 64bit PC I can not print any pdf files that I download from the Internet as it says I have not chosen which pages to print, but I have. I can open the same websites on my laptop (Windows 7, 32 bit) and download and print all the files. How do I get around this? On some sites I can't even view the pdf or save it to PC let alone print.

Needing to resize digital photos i have recently taken. WinXP had a great little tweaker toy for this...i can't seem to find it in Win7. Is there a small program to do this. In WinXP all one had to do was right click on the image and voila, one could instantly resize an image.

I just either need a STEREO MIXER / WAV OUT for the New SOUNDCARD or Someway to get the Soundmax to work for WIN 7.Im not COMPUTER SAVEY. But I just need a site to Download or information to tell me which sound card to use. If I need to use SB then how do i remove the SOUNDMAX off my mother board, I cant seem to remove it.
