Dell PS2Keyboard With Adaptor Doesn't Work In Windows 7?
Nov 26, 2012
I recently purchased a new Lenovo desktop with Windows 7. I want to use my old Dell (ten ears old) Model SK-8110 PS/2 keyboard. I purchased an adapter - PS/2 keyboard to USB. When I connected it to the back of the computer, nothing happened. Don't know what to do next.
I have had the HP 1410 all in one printer for many years, and has always worked fine. About 2 months ago, my laptop had a hardware failure of some sort, and I only backed up my documents. Everything else had been deleted. I only recently wanted to start using the printer again, so I installed the driver using the HP website. However, once the driver installed, it seems that my printer and my laptop cannot connect up, and it seems that my laptop may not recognise the printer as a device. I am unsure as to what I should do now.
I have an newer HP Netbook running Windows 7. I recently installed Open Office 3.3 on the machine, and it works fine, except for some key sequences. For example, in the OO Writer, the key sequence Ctrl-Home should move the cursor to the top of the doc. This works fine on my older HP XP Pro laptop, but my netbook ignores or doesn't understand it. I have removed OO and reinstalled it, but the problem still occurs. So, I guess I need to figure out if this is a Windows or Open Office issue.
I had to buy laptop because my desktop with winxp died. Now how do I get the scanner to work with win7? I need to scan medical records. The scanner is a Canon Lide 55.

I connect some XP (Pro, 32 bit) Clients using a bat file to our NAS (Still using workgroups, no server)The command in the bat file is like this
net use \NAS01 /user:Admin Password net use \10.70.1.10 /user:Admin Password or net use \NAS01 /user:coputernameAdmin Password net use \10.70.1.10 /user:coputernameAdmin Password
This is working with all my XP clients pretty fine. No I want to do the same with a Windows 7(Pro, 32 bit) Client .The exact same command occurs this error message: System error 1326 has occurred.Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.(Username and password are correct, working on all XP clients)is that when I am using a non existing user name and any password, i says: The command completed successfully.
I'm trying to install VMWare Workstation v7 (the trial) on my Windows 7 PC, but whenever I start the setup, I just get a blank screen :S. It's really weird. Even after 2 hours nothing happened. Can you guys help me?
I have many years of experience with Windows OSes, but one thing about Win7 is stumping me. I have an application that I want to open when I log in. It's Speedfan, so I can monitor temperatures. I put a shortcut to it in my Start Menu - Programs - Startup folder. If I click on that shortcut it starts the app. But the app never starts when I log in. It shows in the start menu in MSCONFIG and it is enabled.
i am on windows 7 and for a week, my keyboard doesn't work. the key p, return, tab, and some others won't work. ma visual keyboard works fine - except the question mark - . i tried the pilots, and the computer says it has the best pilots so no need to update. i don't know where it comes from, but then, after a windows update, my keyboard came back to normal. it worked fine for three days and then, again, it screw up. it's always the same keys that don't work, so i don't think my keyboard is worn out. my computer is only one year old. it's a sony vaio laptop. each time i press the p key, for example, the start button -physical one- blinks. same for the other buttons. when i press the return key, the start button blinks. and while i am having this problem, my computer has trouble loading. sometimes it freezes and i have to unplug it and remove the battery to reboot.
my LENOVO 450 the window start up do not want to run, when i open it, there the note saying if I want to open my computer in normal way or use to window start up repair
Some weeks ago, a pop-up message appeared on my aging father's PC screen, saying that Microsoft apologized, but something must be done and required that he click on some button.Since then, his login password is inefficient. He can't use this PC anymore.
I just installed Windows 7 on my home computer. When I plug in my old speakers (Creative Intrigue 2.1s) whatever speaker is plugged into the right jack BARELY gets any sound. I did some research and it seems this is a semi common problem. I tried messing with all the balance levels and hooked up an old set of speakers which work fine. I also tried switching speakers and whichever is in the right audio jack barely works while the other works fine. The only other thing I was able to find was someone said they got a "new" cord and it fixed their problem. Is there a cord that would work with Windows Vista but wouldnt work with Windows 7?
Just got this computer about two weeks ago. My old XP Pro finally crashed and burned. I miss that machine. Win 7 is crap as far as I am concerned. Problem - Windows Explorer absolutely does not work. I try to copy and paste between drives or even on the same drive. Program starts out great and gets down to near the end and reads 5 seconds remaining. That is the end of the copy and paste. Furthermore, it is an ordeal to shut the damn program off. Sometimes I even have to pull the plug on the machine (and yes I know that is not good). I thought for a bit that some throttling program was the culprit but I am getting nowhere.
my keyboard works fine for the BIOS but as soon as windows starts it stops. It's not recognized in the device manager but will occasionally show (still doesn't work). And I know it's not a USB problem because I've switched ports and all other USB devices work, including the mouse.
I've got OEM version of W7 Pro 64 bit. I've had it about 2 months and everything is working fine except IE8 64 bit. I normally use Firefox so haven't been to concerned. I'm now trying to figure out why my IE8 64 bit dosn't work. The IE8 32 bit works fine. The error I get when I start IE8 64 is
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
I've downloaded IE8-WindowsVista-x64-ENU and tried installing that but get the error: "Internet Explorer 8 is not supported on this operating system". I've checked in control panel system and it reports my o/s is 64 bit.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. When I try to do a System Restore, it seems to run to completion, reboots the system and then issues the following message:
"System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed."
Same result in Safe mode. Same result with AV disabled. (Kaspersky Internet Security 12)
I have a seagate 2 TB external HDD. It has 1 FAT32 partition. Everything works as expected in Windows Vista/7 and even in Ubuntu. When connecting the external HDD to any XP machine (tested 3 computers with XP), the device will not show up under My Computer. It is visible in Device Manager.Under Disk Management, the drive shows up without any labelling and has improper file system and partitioning. It's as though the partition table is messed up, however, the drive works perfectly on any Vista/Windows 7/Linux pc. [code] Not only is the capacity incorrect, but darn well everything else about the drive shows up incorrect under Disk Management. This happens with all XP PCs. Also, I ran a SFC /SCANNOW with one XP machine in the event the FAT32 drivers or DLLs were corrupted and no resolve.I reinstalled XP on the same machine and the results were identical.
my hp remote not work on windows 7. After 2 years i preinstall from vista home preimum to Windows 7 ultimate. My laptop is hp pavilion dv7-1023cl and i have all windows 7 x64 drivers, and all hp services running on automatic mode, HID also. I try many many times to set up IR to receive signal from remote, but i no have success. This is information from back side on remote:
RC1762307/01 3139 228 53391 HP SPS: 464793-001 HP: HSTNN-PRO7
I have 3 drives, C:, D:, and E:. E: is just a storage drive. XP was originally installed on the D: drive. I installed Windows 7 on the C: drive following the instructions at Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP. After installing Windows 7, I didn't get an option to boot XP so I used EasyBCD to add an XP entry to the boot menu. That worked, but after I boot into XP, if I shutdown or restart I get an error message about the Windows Boot Manager that says
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem ... etc ... File: ootcd Status: 0xc000000f Info: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data."
Then I have to run startup repair from the Windows 7 disk. But then I just get stuck with Windows 7 and no boot menu entry for XP. If I try EasyBCD again, the same process results.
When I boot up my Windows 7 Professional x64 machine I get that balloon that states "Could not reconnect all network drives". How do I get rid of this? I am hard wired into the network (not wireless) and I cannot find a way around it.
All the solutions I have found state its either due to wireless network authentication occuring late in the boot process (but im hard wired) or that you need to upgrade to a Pro edition of windows (which I cam using).
It is not disasterous if I am being honest its just mildly irritating
This settings work on all XP OS but doesnt work with all Windows 7. It works for 5-10 min then it says no connection. After set IP it works then doesnt work. If i ping 10.100.20.1 -t it pings as much as i want until i stop and if i restart ping it doesnt work, while first ping i can access to internet after stopping the ping no internet also, That win 7s works with normal ip configurations like: ip:192.168.0.10 gateway: 192.168.0.1
Does windows 7 have problem with different gateway problem? or is it a bug?
alright so my laptop used to run windows 7, but had to reinstall operative system and only had a xp cd lying around, so i installed that. Problem is now that i need drivers to get the internet and usb ports working, but have no way of getting the files on the computer I tried to burn the files onto a cd, but when i insert it and open it, the cd shows as empty. Btw the cd was burned from another laptop with windows 7 if that is of any importance?
The problem appeared in two different laptops (Lenovo and Fujitsu). The bluetooth hardware is not visible in device manager anymore, but unrecognized device appeared. Driver reinstall doesn't help. Driver installation setup says there is no bluetooth hardware. PC Suite is installed , worked fine before.
My problem began when someday i had issue in my windows which was usb was not recognized as i tried putting 3 usbs but all of them didn't work and i have 2 usb ports in my laptop which is dell xps 15z so i don't think it is a hardware issue My problem continued and i searched and searched the internet for solutions but no one really worked so i decided to format the windows and installing new clean windows 7 one, and i did so and after installation i had too many more problems knowing that i installed all the required drivers needed for the laptop and checked them with driver genius, now any usb i plug in isn't even sensed by the lap or self installed like the usb ports have no drivers or anything.I tried the wireless mouse which isn't sensed on another laptop and it installed and worked instantly, so where is driver software installation which should install the mouse automatic?
I've installed ASUS Wi-Fi USB adapter (model USB-N13) for LAN. There is Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Through control panel I see that adapter works normally and the drivers are the latest. However my PC doesn't see the adapter - the ASUS utility notices me "ASUS Wireless LAN card is taken apart from your desktop PC".I have the same Wi-Fi adapter at another my PC with Windows 7 Home Basic, and everything works nice. Of course I changed these adapters between my computers. Conclusion is both adapters are working good. The same models, the same drivers. Actually I don't understand where is the mistake?
Windows won't start. I get a a black screen saying some hardware or software has changed and the only options are to press enter to continue, or escape to exit. I tried booting my Win 7 64 bit recovery disc (aka system repair disc) but in the second screen where it tells you to select an operating system, it is blank! I attempted to add hard disk drivers but i couldn't figure out how. So i pressed next and got to the screen with various options. I selected "Startup Repair" but that won't work. It says that "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically".
