Cd/ Dvd Drive Not Registering In Bios
Oct 7, 2012my pc was working fine last night, switched off before bed as usual, woke up this morning, switched on and the machine would not boot up to windows from post. i accessed bios but my cd/dvd drive does not show up there, my hdd does but it will still not boot from startup :/ this message is displayed on the right hand side of boot section of bios 'A device enclosed in the parenthesis has been disabled in the corresponding type menu'. my hdd is listed in brackets, which from what i have discovered so far is not meant to be the case, lol..im not very pc literate so i'm beginning to pull my hair out over this..i can get into windows but i have to go into bios, then exit it and it boots up that way, altho it seems to boot up a lot slower. i cant for the life of me get my cd/dvd drive to show up or even work,it does however have power etc, it just doesn't register on the pc so no hope of me doing a full reinstall at mo either :/ any help with this would be much appreciated as im slowly going insane, lol last thing the pc did before shut down last night was a windows defender update, i tried restore but hasn't changed a thing

Oct 10, 2012The user is using windows 7 pro 64-bit, and Office 2010.A third party vendor came to me and asked that i register MSMAPI32.OCX and MSCAL.OCX in order to allow the sending of mail out of their program that they have on this users PC.My Question comes in the actual registering of the file on Windows 7, is this even possible?When i try i get the following error (even after manually downloading the file and placing it in system32.)msmapi32.ocx failed to load.Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files.The specified module could not be found.

Dec 24, 2012I've got 2 HD5870's in crossfire that have been running fine for about 8 months but now the fans are running very fast after boot.AMD Catalyst is reporting temps of 90-92 degrees and fan speeds of 60% when I have no applications running. I've checked Task Manager and nothing seems out of the norm ( at least checking CPU/RAM usage, that doesn't reflect on GPU usage).

Mar 16, 2012I just started having these problems with my computer yesterday. But when trying to use my laptop the taskbar hasn't been working. You can move the mouse over it but the buttons will not highlight and clicking doesn't do anything. If you use Ctrl+Alt+Del and open up the task manager it temporarily fixes the problem. Also, some times the mouse doesnt work either. You can move the cursor around the computer won't register that you are clicking on something. You have to Tab through things and hit enter to click on anything. When trying to use a web browser (I have tried with Mozilla, Chrome, and IE) you can open new tabs but when you click on a tab to go back to it, it just closes the tab. This is a constant problem. Occasionally, even if you aren't clicking the icon or even anywhere near it, about 20 blank web browser pages will just start opening up and after a couple minutes the internet browser becomes unresponsive. My laptops hard drive also seems like it is in constant over drive like it is trying to load something even if you aren't doing anything.I have ran the indepth virus scan with McAfee and also ran the scan with Ad-Aware and they found nothing. I also did a System Restore going back over a month. When I booted back up again, the same problems were occurring.

Dec 23, 2012Booted up from standby without a problem but when I restarted I am unable to enter my password into the prompt. Is it possible a key is stuck? I say this because if I press R the system goes into a reboot, however i doubt this is the problem. Also if I try and go into safe mode i am unable to go up and down?

The Device ID is different when I check on all my registered devices (the only device that uses my account is my one computer). I have not changed any settings, reinstalled Windows, or made any drastic changes in the system. I do not use a router and am using Cox Communications as my ISP.

Changed Boot Drive In BIOS Not Registering In Windows 7?
Jul 19, 2012I changed the boot drive in the BIOS to a new drive. I thought it worked but when I check Disk Managment in Windows 7 it still shows the old drive as the boot drive. Is there something I have to do in Windows to finalize the change?

Apr 23, 2011All of a sudden on my Windows 7 ultimate 64bit, my Windows started to run so slow to the point where I can basically not even use it. All the stats show my RAM registering fine(4gb) and I just can't find what the problem will be. In its normal mode, it will take around 20min just to get to the front screen and is super slow when it comes to opening programs as well. It seems to run safe mode fine though, with speeds that I am used to.

May 16, 2009it doesn't matter if I use a third party program or the W/7 burn image feature to burn an iso, I end up with a dvd that has written data that can't be seen in explorer. All I can see in explorer is "files ready to be written to the disc > desktop."
The desktop file is [.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%system32shell32.dll,-21815
If I try to burn that file it says "no files [staged] to burn"
I've tried different dvd's including Vertbatim, but all have been +RW.
Verify disk confirms the data is burnt and closing the disk does not make any difference....the files can't been seen.
Optical drive = LG H20L (with latest firmware)
Edit....the files I'm burning should be visible, but in any case I've got "shown hidden files, folder & drives" selected in folder options.
Restoring Back Up DVDS?
Feb 2, 2013My problem is, I have recently installed Windows 7 X64. I had already backed up my files up about a month earlier using nero 7. Nero 7 installed but not properly and would not restore my files. I uninstalled Nero 7 and loaded trial version of Nero 12. It also would not restore my files. I would love to have all my files back but my main concern is my picture files.

Mar 2, 2012I have downloaded the Windows 8 ISO and its size is 2.52 GB But all the DVDs here in Egypt at the area where I live is crap, they sell PRINCO DVDs and it has 4.7 GB / 120 Min on it but when I insert it into the drive, it reads 1.31 GB. Very strange!!
In this case, can I split the ISO Image and make the Windows 8 into two 2 separate DVDs? If so, how will the installation look like when I install the Windows using 2 DVDs?
System Not Playing Cds And Dvds
Apr 29, 2012I have been running W7 on this box since W7 came out. I use the TV tuner, Dvdfab, play movies, rip cd's and to this point haven't really had any problems. About 2 weeks ago I was unable to open a movie to use DVDFab to copy it. DVDFab had expried. I did upgrade to the latest version, but that didnt help. Then I tried playing a CD. CD will not play. WMP just sits at the blue circle. Sometimes it will recognize the cd and songs, but no music.Only physical cds and dvds. Same problem if you try and play them from WMC.

Oct 31, 2011Recently my DVD burner does not see any DVDs on my computer that I built a couple of months ago. It does not see Movies, Games(that are DVD), Blank DVD-R or DVD-R that I have written information to. I have put in a few different CDs(Game, Audio and Data) and they do get recognized by the drive. My problems all started when I was writing to a Blank DVD. While it was burning, the burn process failed about midway through. After that happened, my problems with the drive not recognizing the DVDs started.
I had done a system restore to an earlier restore point before I had the problems with the drive, but that did not help. So, I undid the system restore. I have also tried uninstalling the drive from the Device Manager and restarted, but that also did not work.
The computer is running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The model of the DVD burner is a LiteOn iHAS524-T98 B. The Manufacture Date of the drive is April 2011, so it's not that old of a drive.

Aug 8, 2012I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with windows 7 and the DVD drive is not working at all. I have tried with brand new DVDs, music CDs and video games and none of them work.When I put in a disc there are a few wurring noises but nothing loads up. When I click on the drive in Computer the drive opens and tells me to insert a disc.In properties and Device Manager it says the device is working properly.I have tried reinstalling the drive, deleting upper and lower filters, and I have run the Windows Fixit program and nothing has worked so far. My drive is: TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633C ATA Device.My computer is about a year old and is completely standard. I have hardly used the DVD driver at all since I purchased the computer so I have no idea how it could have broke.

I have about 150 DVDs which back up my photographs. They were burned between 2003 and early 2009 in Win XP Pro x86, using Nero v.5. They were burned as data discs, not photo discs. The files are almost all in TIF, PSD or Camera Raw format.
I can read them (i.e. open them in Photoshop) in my XP computer. I can read them in Windows 7 x86 in a VMWare virtual machine. But I can't read them in Windows 7 x64.
The drive is a Pioneer DVR-216DBK, and I've installed the latest firmware. It isn't malfunctioning: I can install programs from DVDs/CDs, and I can write DVDs/CDs.
Searching on-line I found a program named Iso Burner, from which I can slowly and laboriously 'run' individual files (i.e. open them in PS), but I need to be able to see the contents in Bridge.
Can I do this if I:
a) buy a DVD drive that supports older formats, or
b) move the DVD drive that wrote the discs to my Windows 7 machine, or
c) download drivers from....?, or
d) buy the latest version of Nero (which I hoped to avoid; I hardly use DVDs for backup any more)
Crashes When Converting Dvds
Apr 30, 2009Has anyone else experianced this problem of crashing when they are converting avi files to dvd? im using win avi converter version 8 and the latest convertX to dvd progam which i have just updated.
still getting to grips with windows 7 its the beta version im using i have to say i like it and everything else has been fine its just that sometimes i get these crashes when converting films? it only seems to happen on the 2nd or 3rd film the first one always converts and burns fine?

CD/DVD RW Drive Is Reading DVDs But Not CDs?
Dec 26, 2010I noticed this a few minutes ago, I just got finished watching a movie, and was putting music on when I was about to load World of Warcraft, I brought up winamp with the tracks from the CD that I had saved to my playlist, and it'd skip right over them to the next track I'd saved on my hard drive, I'd tried deleting the filters as I'd seen in other threads, and even shutting down, unplugging it, and re-plugging it back into my power supply, but still to no avail.

Jul 30, 2012I found one thread on here where someone had the same issue, and there were links to two "Fixes" ...one of them worked for the CD I inserted during the process..it showed up in iTunes in everything. When I took the CD out and tried to put it in a new one, it went back to the same thing - saying there is no disc in the drive. I tried running the fix again and this time it keeps saying not fixed. I was so excited because it looked like it worked, but no. The computer says that the drive is working properly, but obviously it isn't. HP wants to charge $60+ to fix it because it's a few months out of warranty.

Dec 4, 2012I own a dell xps L501x. My dvd player is not reading any dvd movies, disc with data.. and etc. It reads cd though. I insert a blank dvd, it reads the blank dvd and ask me what i want to do. But if i insert a dvd with things on it, it would not read it. If i click on the dvd drive, after awhile my dvd tray will eject and pops up a message asking me to insert a dvd.
I check the driver, and it says everything is working properly. I went on dell website and did a dell hardware diagnosed and everyhting passed.

Cd's play fine, I am able to use my built in disc drive (in the tower/box), but I have no idea as to why it has stopped recognizing dvd's and not allowing Windows Media Center to play them, it used to. I can use Windows Media Player for ripping an burning music, etc. but not WMC!

Since I updated to my 64 bit os (windows 7 pro), I have been unable to use DVD43 as it does not support 64 bit, and therefore cannot decode the dvds to brun.
