DVD Drive - Burn Process Failed
Mar 25, 2012I have a problem with my DVD drive. When a DVD begins to burn I get an error, "Burn Process Failed". There is no firmware upgrade for my DVD player, what is the cause.

Interactive Logon Process Has Failed?
May 25, 2012So a while back I was watching a video and a pop up appeared and I it asked me if I wanted to download something and I clicked no. But that same pop up continuously appeared and I accidentally clicked yes. The computer froze so I forced shut down and whrn I tried to turn it on again, the BSOD appeared. It turned off a second time and then when it restared, the safe mode window appeared and I ran that and it tried to fix the problem but now whenever I try to get on, there is a black screen with a window that says" interactive logon process has failed. Please consult the event log" I click ok and I just appears again. There is no getting past it and I am unable to do anything on my. Computer.

It started fine the first 3 or 4 times I have tried to use it, but now, I am receiving this error message: "Interactive logon process initialization has failed. Please consult the event log for more details". I get the same message in safe mode, and the Repair Your Computer and Last Known Good Configuration options do not work. The computer has not created a system restore point, and I could not burn a system image due to lack of a burner (I have an external one on order).

Mar 22, 2010I have a PC that dual boots both XP and 7. Yesterday, I restarted my computer to go from 7 to XP to play a game, all fine and dandy so far. When I came back onto windows 7, the Windows intro logo loads, disappears as usual, but instead of loading by desktop, I get :
"Interactive logon process initialization has failed. Please consult the event log for more details."
So I decided to go check my event log. I booted on XP, went to G:WindowsSystem32winevtLogs, copied the file : Application.evtx to my USB key, and opened it up on another Win 7 system to check it out. I thought I could find the error, but I can't get any logs out of the event log. The last entry being a month ago for some reason. I want to avoid formatting my Win 7 partition at all costs. Also :
- Safe mode doesn't work
- System restore doesn't work
- System repair doesn't work.
I've tried almost everything so far. I do in fact have complete access to my G: partition, which is my Windows 7 partition.

Jun 18, 2012I have a laptop which has stopped running since yesterday evening and gives me this error on a dialog box due to which I am not able to logon to the system. When I restart my machine, it gives me 4 options i.e.
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networks
Safe Mode using command prompt
Logon normally
I tried all 4 of them if atleast any of these allows me to login, but none worked. I referred to the solutions and fixes available on the internet, but all of them says that I need to press F8, enter into a safe mode and operate the issue from there. But even pressing F8 doesn't make any change.
Reformatting Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit System - Process Initialization Failed
Oct 1, 2010I have a system I have used for a while now and I actually reformatted a few months ago. The system has been working great with no problems but recently during a boot up I noticed an issue. Right when Windows begins its setup to take you to the login screen I noticed a bluescreen and a quick reboot. So I used F8 to boot from the last known good config, no change. I went and disabled the automatic reboot after a crash so I could read the error and it's the:
"Process1_initialization_failed" error.

However, when I tried to get into the C: to remove that file, it said "Access Denied" and locked me out. I have yet to be able to get into the system since. To make matters worse I gave up and decided to just reformat the drive and start fresh. However, when I load up my Windows Installation DVD it is noticeably slow, it takes 5-10 minutes to go from step to step. So I got to the "Install" button screen, clicked it and it says "Setup is starting..." and then...nothing. It just stays on that screen for a long time, I gave it 30 minutes last night. So I'm unable to even reformat.

Apr 12, 2012I have a HP Mini netbook with Windows 7 starter and when it boots up, the screen goes black, but flickers, and puts the computer into a sleep mode, where the power button light starts to blink. Sometimes the screen flickers enought so you can see a faint faded error message but the mouse cursor is unresponsive. When I press (not hold) the power switch, sometimes the display will turn on for 2-3 seconds but the mouse cursor/keyboard is still usually unresponsive. There's sometimes a error message that appears when the display is temporarily on that reads:"Interactive logon process initialization has failed"but the screen goes blank before anything can be clicked...The computer starts fine in safe mode, and with a minimal boot(sysconfig), but chkdsk, windows memory diagnostic, and startup repair are unable to find any issues.I recently booted into safe mode and uninstalled the display drivers via device manager, rebooted and it worked fine, I thought I fixed it, but when I shut down windows, windows finished installing updates and the problem started right back up again.

Dec 21, 2011my CD drive will not burn any CD, it reads them ok when i put in an audio cd or a driver CD but everytime i try to burn something it fails. Is is very loud when tryin to do this and seems to be reving up and stoppin before it spits out the CD. I have tried burning with Nero, what i always use and also tried WMP and got the same result. Could the disk drive be broke?? is there a command i can run in cmd maybe like chkdsk to check it??

As this was a personal religious event we took service of professional photographer who shoot the event using his digital camera and converted it to image on his computer. he burned image on DVD . I can play DVD on traditional DVD player Though the disk is full my computer drive recognize it as blank DVD. There are total 41 DVDs and some of the DVDs are recognized and can be played on computer. My DVD writer (on PC)is in good condition. The DVD which shows blank on my computer is shown full on photographe's computer.Unfortunately he could only told me that he has transfered this event from his camera disk to computer using some new HD technology. According to him some configuration changes required on my computer. His computer also run on window 7. Also same photographer did this same event recording for me three years ago and all these DVDs play well on my computer?

May 3, 2012I am getting this error all the time with Windows 7. I open a text file I want to edit, then go to save my changes and I get this error:"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".I have full admin rights, running Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1. From a bit of research I have seen where many others have been experiencing this problem or something similar too. The only "fix" (that doesn't work all the time) is to close explorer.exe and then restart it to "release the handle"? Anyway, this is not acceptable for all the money and time I spent upgrading/configuring this new OS from XP -where I never had this problem- and seriously cuts down my productivity.Has Microsoft even acknowledged this as a bug yet? I can duplicate this scenario the second or third time I try to edit/save/delete a text file and I know that explorer.exe is the problem or a big part of it in any case. I don't want to go back to XP x64 but having to deal with this headache 10-20 times a day is just too much to ask.The file here is a game's map script & has to be saved to a .pk3 and then loaded into the program's root before it can run so i know othing else is running the file. No apps running in taskmngr either.

Nov 9, 2012New dell n7110/win7sp1x64.At startup on new machine from dell, process explorer (procexp64.exe) lists 81 processes running (seems like way too many - compared to xp with maybe 25 at startup). But which processes I can turn off is a question for another day. OK, read carefully, at least 15 processes in PE show " Path: error opening process". PID, CPU, Private Bytes, and working set columns are shown for these "problem" processes, but nothing after that, ie, description, company name etc. For all other listed running processes (with known paths), all info is shown in all columns. The problem processes include some important ones, services, crss, ism, wininit, winlogon, that must to be working for the computer to work, and everything seems to be working properly, and no cpu spikes or other weird stuff is happening. Right clicking properties on these problem processes, properties window pops up as normal, but shows "version: n/a, build: n/a, path: error opening process, no command line, no current directory, autostart location: n/a, Parent: non existent process (708), user: access denied. Again, this info can not be correct since the computer is working. And then, after a few minutes, another window pops up and says PE has stopped working, and closes the program. Now, if this was the whole story, I would go to sysinternals with this, but read on... Task manager running simultaneously with PE lists 83 processes running, more processes than PE, and also ~5 different processes than PE, and PE lists some processes running that TM doesn't list. So PE and TM show different running processes at the same time. How can that be? For the processes that PE shows "error opening", e.g., crss, etc., when I click properties in TM for the same process, sometimes I get the usual/normal pop-up window listing the path, and all the other data as normal, suggesting the process is working properly. But sometimes when I click properties in TM for the processes that PE shows "error opening", I get no pop-up at all, nothing for that process. So, IMO, it's not just a PE glitch, something is actually wrong here. This is a new machine, with PE the only 3rd party installation. I have installed several dell driver updates, but this problem occurred before I installed them. Also, remember PE and TM simultaneously list some different running processes and TM also fails to show paths, etc.

Dec 22, 2011I am running windows 7 64 bit, on an eMachines lap top, I have purchased an external HDD and now I am trying to create a perfect copy of my system. I used DriveImage XML but it failed. I have used this program in the past with great success on a different computer running WindowsXP.The failure I get is "failed to lock drive". I've tried skipping the lock drive option and going straight to shadow copy; same problem.I can only assume the failure to lock drive is based on permissions and files being in use. So I think I need to attempt this without loading windows. Is there anyway of running a "free" drive cloning program from a DVD or USB Flash drive without booting into Windows?I would just bit torrent a win7 OS, install it on my external, and run the program from their, but I don't want to have to resort to law breaking, and I have never run linux.
Also I tried using a "backup" feature on Paragon Partition Manager, it did "backup" the system, but it didn't clone the drive. All the backup files are written in directories such as "C:/archive/" and thus I assume there is no way of booting into a system written that way. I assume it's like windows system restore, and what I need is a bootable image of my primary drive.Oh and I should clarify, that it's not my external drive that fails to lock; the external HDD has been formatted, partitioned, and can read and write data just fine, and has way more than enough room to copy the HDD in my lap top.Also, the HDD on my lap top has 1 primary partition, with two logical partitions. I have no idea what the logical partitions are for and if that could be causing the problem.
External Hard Drive Image Failed
Nov 1, 2009I have two internal 500Gb SATA drives and one external 500Gb ESATA drive.
I wanted to have 2 backups images of my drive as a safety measure. One on the internal and one on the external ESATA drive.
The backup image on the internal drive took about 25 minutues and seems OK. The image size is about 75Gb.
I then tried a second backup on my external drive. ESATA is supposed to be faster than USB. After about three and a half hours the backup stopped and said that it had failed. Any ideas please?
C Drive Almost Full After Failed Download - How To Clean Up
Dec 13, 2011I bought some software for MS Flight Simulator today which involved a very large download (over 10GBs) - I left it running whilst I went to work. I had 13.5 GBs left on my C drive (one of 2 partitions on a 128GB SSD) so figured all would be OK. When I returned 10 hours later, the download had failed, as, apparently, my C-drive was full. No idea why - I know there was enough room for the 10GB download. I could only guess that some temp files were downloaded at the same time (??).
The problem now however is that after deleting my browser (Firefox) cache, running the Disk Cleanup from Properties/Tools for C drive, I still have only 3GBs left. What happened to the 13GBs space I had this morning? What else do I need to clean up? Tried a System Restore - no change. I noticed that my ProgramData folder (hidden) is over 12GBs - most from the indexing service (Microsoft/Windows/Search), but that would have been there before today. (I've disabled the Windows Search service and moved that folder to an archive on another drive - I use a 3rd. party search engine, SearchMyFiles, for my PC, which is much faster than the Windows Search in any case).
Having removed the Search folder, if I show hidden files & folders, then select everything in the C Drive, sys files and all and then show 'Properties' - I still get some 4GBs less (28GBs) than is recorded in the Properties box when right-clicking the C-Drive root (32GBs) - where's the difference? I haven't run checkdisk yet, but before I do is there any obvious area I need to clean to regain the 10GBs I lost today?

SSD runs on a flash based chip ... it is very stable but mean time it has huge access point of data that why it is fast. The reason i am thinking that SSD is killing my other drives is because my setup is a Media center. Software such as windows media center and media browser keep accessing my 2 TB Hitachi drive for movies, TV show and so on .. SSD in my opinion is running other drive to max point of spin and read/write in same time. which could caused these drive either over heat or over used that is just a theroy of mine

Jul 31, 2012Thought I was doing something good and proper, and I did know it was an OEM, and I did see the warning on the Sony website (I'm a dunce, I know; I just didn't think...didn't think...) to not flash an OEM drive with their firmware, but I did anyways.I'm wondcering if there's any way I can trick the drive into working again.I've downloaded all the legacy firmware I could find and am contemplating just trying all of them in succession just because I don't seem to have anything to lose at this point. But wondering if anyone has any better ideas.
