Over the night I usually turn off my PSU, this morning, I turned it on, booted the pc normal, and the cursor wasn't moving on the desktop. The mouse itself, was lighten up, and ready to be used. I plugged the USB in and out, and everything were back normal.
View 2 RepliesBasically what happens: Explorer has stopped working: restart the program.Afterwards, either I can't move my cursor, or the moves very slowly or in different directions but still slowly.The only way I've been able to get out of is by Ctrl Shift Esc Task Manager and then Alt Tabbing my way to process list to kill WerFault.I dug around through event viewer, but this the most recent relevant crash I found.

My computer starts to boot up as normal, shows the 4 colored dote resolving to the Microsoft logo followed by the light blue screed with usual Microsoft decal then the screen goes black and all i have is the cursor. the cursor moves as normal but that's it. Ctr-Alt-Del brings up the light blue screen with the usual options and if I select Task Manager it appears but still with a black screen behind.I can reboot in safe mode and I get the normal Windows screen. however my Anti Virus (Bitdefender) will not load. trying a system image restore has produced the same result.

This happened twice within past two hours... when I was listening to music and watching movie in the background... and it happened when I was typing details of a mp3 file's properties...

I have noticed that recently when I navigate to different screens the web pages will not load up fast until I move the cursor slightly. If I do not move the cursor the page takes forever to load up. I have run scans for viruses and everything comes up negative. I have also changed out the mouse but it still does the same thing. What would cause this and how can I fix the problem.

Recently my PC is getting stuck for no reason. While browsing, watching a movie, when I leave it idle for a while its getting stuck. Screen is as it was and I cannot move the cursor, keyboard isn't working. Then I restart it manually and go to the option "start windows normally" or something. This happened previously and I thought it has smthin to do with my HDD, but I checked it n re installed win7 64bit. It was working normally for about 3 months and now it started again.
Since I find it much faster to move the "beam" cursor around with the arrow keys (and CTRL+Arrow key to jump over whole words), I frequently use that instead of the mouse to reposition the cursor, handy if I want to go back a few words and add or change something.
However on many sites, using the arrow keys fails to move the beam, yet the actual input position does change.
For example, I'll press "CRTL+Left Arrow" a few times to jump back three words. On the screen the beam stops flashing but stays put, yet if I start to type the typing starts where the beam should have ended up if it moved properly.
Does anyone know if it's posible to create a desktop shortcut for the start menu's / search box?

I can right click and create a new folder or text file on my desktop, I can move folders onto my desktop, but I can't move files from anywhere else on my hard drive to my desktop. Attempting to move a file to the desktop does not return any error, it just does not move from its location.

I closed it down and restarted it and the laptop will let me move the cursor to type in my password but once its on the desktop that is where it stays. After that i found that i can't move any of my desktop icons. I don't know if there is a direct connection with the istallation of SP1.
Also i found that vlc doesn't properly. I have tried different version, but the problem is always the same: i can't move the video forward or back. I don't know if this problem too is connected with the istallation of the SP1..
Anyone else have this problem? I re-arrange them and when I reboot they're all over the place.

If a move or ad an icon or a file on my desktop and then later, maybe an hour or so, i reboot my computer, when it finishes to load, the icons i moved or added just go back to where they were. But if i log off and then on before rebooting it doesn't do this.
Any ideas?

I have a Toshiba Satellite that I just purchased, 4 GB and an AMD quad core processor.I thought the problem seemed to occur after Windows updates but now I am not sure. I temporarily downloaded a software to reset my icons when I start the computer, but I don't want to keep on having to go through this all the time. I tried the regedit...that didn't work. I tried right clicking the desktop and resetting them there...that doesn't work.

I have no password but I have two users, so I have to click on which to log into.the cursor is moving , but when I click on the User, nothing happens.. the cursor is still moving, but there is no indication that the computer is reading.that round moving icon that you see is not there..is there a way to fix this without reformatting? View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to do a clean install of Windows 7 I get the loading files white progress bar you normally get during an installation, it then goes directly to the scrolling progress bar that would normally appear before a Windows startup, and then goes to a blank Windows 7 desktop with only a cursor (that I can move).I have a computer with the following specs:[CODE]I have tried to install with every version I can get my hands on, both 32 and 64 bit. None of them are upgrade versions. I've tried installing on a fresh WD Raptor and an Intel G25 SSD. All other drives have been disconnected. I've moved my memory around and tried with one stick. My mainboard has the latest official BIOS, although there is a new beta.
I ran the Windows 7 compatibility test and didn't see anything that would cause this problem.I have searched the internet and have not been able to find a solution sonstalling Windows XP has never been a problem, just Windows 7, always with the same problem.This is one of the few times when I have not been able to look around a find an existing answer to a problem and I am stumped.
I mostly use my computer for photography. I keep a folder on my desk top where I store photos that I have printed.I also write adjustments I have made to the photos in "note pad" but find that I cannot move these files to the folder in which I want to keep them. Nothing I have tried works. Drag and drop doesn't work. Nor does using control+C and control+V.
