View 1 RepliesI was wondering if i was the only one that had this problem. If a move or ad an icon or a file on my desktop and then later, maybe an hour or so, i reboot my computer, when it finishes to load, the icons i moved or added just go back to where they were. But if i log off and then on before rebooting it doesn't do this.
Any ideas?
Yesterday i istalled Service pack 1 on my pc.
After that i found that i can't move any of my desktop icons. I don't know if there is a direct connection with the istallation of SP1.
Also i found that vlc doesn't properly. I have tried different version, but the problem is always the same: i can't move the video forward or back. I don't know if this problem too is connected with the istallation of the SP1..
I cannot move the desktop icons in win 7. I have unchecked the audo arrange and that didn't help

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy desktop Icons are locked in place. I move them to desire position and when I REFRESH the desktop, they return to previous position. They also change size after a reboot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't recall any recent change before this issue, but everytime I start my computer, all my icons go to the left side of the screen. I temporarily downloaded a software to reset my icons when I start the computer, but I don't want to keep on having to go through this all the time. I tried the regedit...that didn't work. I tried right clicking the desktop and resetting them there...that doesn't work.
View 6 Replies View Relatedwhenever I restart my computer, all my desktop icons move around to really weird locations. Here are the specs:
Asus G74SX built-in monitor: 1920x1080
External monitor: Acer X203H, 1600x900
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 3GB VRAM
Like I said in the subject, the desktop icons rearrange themselves every other reboot. Not every time, but occasionally and quite often, often enough to annoy me.
I have a 30" screen 2560x1600 and I keep a lot of icons on the desktop. I have to keep arranging them.
All settings are configured correctly. In Personalize>Desktop Icons - auto arrange icons is unchecked. The OS restarts correctly so I'm not sure what is causing this problem, but it's getting on my nerves.
Whenever I reboot my computer, the icons all change to medium size and all move to the left side of the screen.

I've come across an issue where when I shut down and restart my PC on occasion all of my desktop icons will have moved.I am running a dual screen set up, screen 1 on the left, screen 2 on the right using screen 2 as the main display, running Win 7 Pro x64.
Windows gadgets are unaffected by this problem, only icons which are all moved onto the main display and largely jumbled up.
This doesn't happen every time I shut down. I am beginning to suspect it has something to do with the order of programs closing before windows shuts down, but I am not sure, and even less sure why programs which have no affect on the resolution would have any affect on the icon position.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to why Windows might be getting confused sometimes?
there are two icons, one looks like a triangular tower and the other looks like a pair of scissors. they show up in front of any window. can't move them or open them. they weren't on my pc desktop last time i used it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSome of the icons normally showing what a program type is are missing now. I HAVE all the DESKTOP icons and those in the system tray. But in Windows Explorer lists or in Word Perfect and Word lists of file names, many of the small icons that normally appear next to a program's name, or showing what type of document or file it is, are now missing. Not all, just some. I have mostly open square boxes. It doesn't matter whether I'm looking at a list of files I've created, or looking at the items in various system folders: most are just empty open squares instead of the individual icons. I have Windows 7 64-bit OS , both Mozilla 17 and IE9 browsers.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a few problems with some of my notification area icons.
Some of the programs I have set to start of boot (not very many I might add) aren't loading their icons in the notification area. However, if I log off, and log back on again, they appear again. Same if I restart explorer.exe.
I have tried clearing the cache (works until a reboot), and various other methods I have found online, all doing similar things. And while they work after a log off, to explorer.exe restart, they will not work after a fresh reboot. I have also run sfc /scannow and it finds no violations. Is there anyway to replace my explorer.exe from an SP1 extraction?
When I turned my laptop on the icons flashed on then disappeared. I have tried turning it of and rebooting but no change.
