View 14 Replies View RelatedI built a new computer last August. Everything worked except my wireless. Move on to today, and still, the only issue I've ever had is with my wireless. Cabled internet works fine. Wireless does not. I've even upgraded my motherboard in this timeframe too.
Current specs are:
Mobo: Asus Crosshair IV Formula
GPU: HD 5870
CPU: Phenom II X6 1055T
RAM: 4GB of Ripjaw somethingblah
I've tried one internal N network card, and 2-3 sticks. The current one I'm trying is a TP-Link TL-WN81N 300Mpbs N Network adapter. I've used two different routers. My PS3 & iPhone connect fine. My Xbox 360 and PSP both struggle, sometimes connecting but usually not.Wireless on this computer, the issue, connects to the network fine. But it won't enable a internet connection, I never get wireless internet. Every now and then it'll work fine like nothing is wrong and other times it'll be super slow but literally 99.5% of the time it will be connected but with no internet.
I have two wireless networks using two different routers. I can connect easily to both networks from five of my other computers, some that use XP, one with Vista and one with Windows 7. I have another AIO computer using Windows 7 that will only connect to one of the networks although both the networks appear on the list of available networks and the signal strength indicates excellent on the network that won't connect. I disconnect the network that I can access, try to connect to the other but I get the advice that the computer cannot connect. I have typed in the correct codes, do everything as on other computers but it just won't connect on this one. After a few seconds the computer automatically connects to the previous network.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is for my parents house. They have high-speed net that can only be registered to one computer, so running it to a router and then computers is not an option. We used to have it setup with net into "computer 1" then out to the wireless router. The new computer has only one ethernet port, so this can no longer be accomplished without buying another card, which I am very inclined to do. They are getting another computer that will also have Windows 7 and would like to get wireless working again, so...
1) I've tried an ad-hoc connection. I understand the concept and had it working for awhile but found it to be "finiky." I would always have to restart the connection everytime I wanted to use it. I couldn't get it to "stick." Did I maybe do something wrong or is there no way to keep the net connection open? I "saved" the network and set it to start automatically, but it would always close the internet sharing.
2) I haven't messed with home group...will this feature accomplish internet sharing easily??...without messing with any ad-hoc crap? I need everything as simple as possible, so if they have any problems I can fix it over the phone or they can figure everything out for themselves.
Like I said, worst comes to worst, I'll get them another ethernet and run it the old way...was just hoping I could simplify things and save some money.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had a Acer Aspire 5742-6814 for a month or so now. Yesterday it suddenly would not connect to the wireless network in my apartment and won't connect to a wired network either. It says that the wireless drivers are up to date and it just stopped working out of nowhere. I tried connecting to my school wireless network and that would not work either. I have tried some of the solutions that I have seen including: Resetting modem in apartment. Checking "Connect even if network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)" (which seemed to work for some people with similar problems). I really have no idea what is wrong or if it some kind of hardware issue. I can provide any further details.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a wireless issue on my laptop. I have had my connections in the two locations for months now. One network was recently upgraded to another router and the other network router was reset. I am at the location where the router was reset. My available networks are showing and are in excellent strength but whenever I hit "connect",nothing happens.I don't even get a prompt to enter the passcode. I even tried to connect at my local library's wifi with no such luck. When I run diagnostics it keeps saying "None of the networks you have previously connected to are in range"?? My drivers are up to date. I am a novice when it comes to computers so I really need help on this one. Just tell me what is needed in terms that I can understand (again, I am not that computer savvy, lol) and I will provide them. I am running on a 32bit and my laptop is a HP. The router is a Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n
View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to have a problem with my WiFi. Left-clicking the wireless icon in system tray doesn't work as in literally nothing happens. When I open the network and sharing center and click on "connect to a network" then also nothing happens. Right now it's only a minor problem, because my laptop auto-connects to networks it already knows but when I want to connect to a public WiFi in a cafe for example I can't look up any networks. Also I'd like to point out that setting up a new connection to connect to a WiFi works but for that I need to already know the network name and security type. Windows can't find any problems either and I've reinstalled all network adapter drivers.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a wired linksys router that works fine. I'm not using DHCP on it, its setup at 192.168.1.1. My pc which only has a wired NIC, connects with no problems.I recently bought a tplink wireless router. I changed it so the ip is now 192.168.1.254 (it was 192.168.0.254 originally which meant I couldnt access settings to change from the default password, SSID).
I got the tplink wireless router, so I wouldnt have to be tethered with a wire on my laptop for internet. However, I've wasted time with tech support which I can barely hear or understand.I'd like to get this working, otherwise I'm sending everything back, wireless router and laptop.I can ping both the linksys and tplink from my laptop with no problems.I can get connected to the tplink wireless router without a problem but I cannot get to the internet.
I recently bought a new windows 7 laptop and tried to connect into my my router it did this successfully but it always now says no internet access when i have full bar wireless connection it only works if i am beside the router but if i walk away it doesnt work my other windows xp laptop works just fine even from 30ft away, my windows 7 laptop when troubleshooting the network that there is a problem with the wireless adapter or access point but its a new laptop i also bought a new home hub from bt because i thought that was the problem, it also says when troubleshooting that 'the connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having huge issues getting my new Samsung SCX 3405FW printer to connect wirelessly to my PC running Windows 7.
I have run through the instalation process many times and it always ends with 2 outcomes.
1) When I try to create a network between my printer - router - PC it states that my WPA2 password is invalid. It is not!
2) When I attempt to create an "ad-hoc" network direct from the printer to the PC the instalation process untils it reaches near the end and it tells me that my must enable "portthru" in my network settings. The only place that I can see one can add a "portthru" thing is via my firewall settings.
I have had Samsung on the phone for hours and they cannot fix it. Yes, I have downloaded and installed the latest version of the software and drivers for the printer. I have tried a reset to factory settings on the printer etc etc.
I have a problem with my wireless internet card (Qualcomm Atheros Ar9485). It has trouble connecting to websites. Speed and ping is fine, but it is the connecting that often fails. I have done tests on my other computer and on my iPad, and everything works fine. I know that there is something wrong with the wifi card, because when I plug in my ethernet cable, everything works fine. My wifi drivers are up to date. I can still browse the web wirelessly, but 30-60% of the time, the connecting fails. I have had this kind of issue before (All browser slow/not loading pages) and I got the problem solved by switching wifi channels.

I have a desktop running win 7 64 bit with broadband supplied by Virgin media cable. I also have another desktop computer which is not being used on which I am going to reinstall XP for my wife to use. I originally reformatted the hard disk as I thought I was going to sell it. I want this PC to have a wireless connection. I have the netgear router supplied by Virgin and I know I need to buy a wireless adapter for my wifes pc, this will probably be a TP Link card. I want the main PC to be hard wired and only my wife's PC to be wireless.
how do I connect the Wireless Router and the Virgin Modem. Do I connect the wireless router to the virgin box on the wall and then connect the modem to the router or do I connect the Modem to the wall box and then connect the wireless router to the modem ?
Ok. My system's wireless connection keeps 'refreshing' itself every 1 minute. I rebooted the router a few times didnt help. The connection has 5 bars so I checked the event log, and here is what I found.Name resolution for the name teredo.ipv6.microsoft.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.I am using windows 7 ultimate 32 bit on a desktop pc with a built in linksys card.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 SP1, 32bit on my laptop. I have both wired connection, and wireless connection. It may not make much sense to have both active, but at times I do.
When I have both wired and wireless connected, why do I not have both the wired and wireless icons in the sys tray?
Is there any way to "turn on" these icons? In the taskbar properties notification area, I have "always show all icons" checked.
I installed the driver. But when I logon using a standard user account and tried to connect to my wireless network, it asked if I allow the device to make changes to the system. How can I prevent this from happening? It looks like it tried to install something and need to elevate privilege.
