Get Wmc To My Home Theater?
Mar 17, 2012i have a home theater and i want to send my wmc to my pioner receiver in one room and to my samsung bluray player in another room. both r wifi ready and set up. problem is i can get windows media player sent to my devices but i cant get the nice windows media center sent to my external devices. i find wmc has a nicer layout, all my movies are on there and i have tried i think everything

Dec 30, 2010I'm trying to get the animated boot screen to work on my home theatre PC, after scouring what feels like the whole of the internet, I can't find a solution to get it to work, and I'm stuck with the Vista scroll bar. I am using an Asus M4A785D-M Motherboard, however I have disabled the onboard graphics and am using an external card (Radeon 4350). This is plugged into my home theatre receiver which in turn is plugged in to my Sony LCD TV (1080p).
I have tried the following commands:
bcdedit /set {current} locale en-UK and bcdboot %WinDir% /l en-US
In the command prompt. I have also tried a repair installation over the original which has not worked. I've also fiddle with a number of different BIOS settings without any luck. The resolution on the screen seems to be downgraded when the animated boot screen appears (i.e. it was 720p and then goes down to 480p), which seems odd.
Connecting To Home Network
Nov 15, 2009I have a laptop with Windows 7 and I am trying to connect to my home network. My home network consists of two other Windows XP computers connected to a router. I have the Internet connection that the other two computers have, but I cannot see any of their files and they do not show up as network places. How do I fix this? I am not a tech person and I don't understand all this fiddly stuff and I'm getting really frustrated.
The weirdest thing is, I was able to access the other two computers fine yesterday but now they do not turn up?? I have restarted multiple times but to no avail.

On my network (wireless), my Desktop can find and use everything that is on my Laptop computer.
When I try to find or map out the Desktop from the Laptop, the Laptop cannot see my desktop at all (eg in the Network "explorer-type" window in Windows 7) .
I've checked my firewall settings, and my sharing properties on both computers, but I think I missing some setting somewhere that will let me connect from the Laptop to the Desktop (so that I can use my Desktop printer).
Home Wireless Internet Not Connecting
Sep 20, 2011I just bought my Dell inspiron laptop windows 7 today when I first turned it on I set up my home wireless connection and it was working fine. I was streaming a movie on Netflix when my Internet connection was lost. I have not been able to get Internet since then. It says I'm connected to my home wifi but that I have no Internet connection and the web browser will not load. I have a toshiba laptop windows xp an iPod an xbox360 and they all connect perfectly to the wifi. It was working fine then it just disconnected I have not gotten any Internet connection for hours and I please want to know what I can do to solve this problem. Many others seem to have a similar problem.

Aug 30, 2009My WIndows 7 decktop is part of a small home network. I can access files from the network form the Windows 7 computer but I cannot connect to the printer on the network. When I run the "add printer" wizard, it correctly lists the printers on the network, all of which are attached to one computer. Of the ones listed, only one is a real printer. The others are things like Adobe, or a fax printer. I successfully connected the Windows 7 to the "Adobe printer" but when I try to connect to the Lexmark printer, I get an error message, "0.0000000a".
Also when I try "view network computers" from the Windows XP where the printer is connected, it does not show the Windows 7 computer as part of the network. THe Windows 7 had been part of the network prior to installing Windows 7 when it had Windows XP and it had no problems. THe connection to the home network seems to have survived the upgrade to Windows 7 on the Windows 7 computer but not on the others.

Dec 28, 2011My laptop with Windows 7 home premium has developed a problem recently. When it tried to log on to the home wifi.
1. It will connect but the DHCP insist on connecting to a specific IP address, in this case (192.168.0.58)
2. Then tells itself that the address is already in use on the server, I looked at the router log, it never called and the 192.168.0.58 is unused.
3. Then it will fail to call for another IP address.
4. So the adaptor will show connected but no internet.
I have tried:
1. rebooting the router, even changing the SSID. Same deal.
2. Assigning a static IP on laptop. Worked! but the second that I change it back to dynamic, same ole problem.
3. Even uninstall the wifi adapter, then reinstall it. Worked for a few minutes, then same problem again.

May 1, 2009In 7000 Windows an old Vista driver worked but I can't get media center to work with any of them in 7100. I've got the TV guide etc. all set up, it just can't find the tuner and I know this usually happens when a driver is wrong or absent.

Jun 5, 2012My comp broke down recently & I decided to built a new one, probably not necessary but I will add the specs below: [code] I had an old ATI Graphic Card Radeon X1300/X1500 (busted now) series card installed in my old pc, which would allow me to plug my TV with DVI-I & I could use my 23" Monitor through VGA cable in extended monitor. (& screen not referring to Cloning)However the Intel 3000 Graphic Card I am using lags alot when I play HD movies, but more importantly it doesn't allow me to use my TV output as Theater Mode.Where you play movie or video on small screen window on your primary monitor while it plays full screen on secondary screen. in ATI Cards its called Theater Mode while in Nvidia its called "Video Mirroring".Problem is New ATI or Nvidia Cards don't come with these feature anymore, I have Redeon 6790 card available but it doesn't have Theater Mode feature available, I have done 3 days worth of research so Nvidia stop the Video Mirroring feature by GForce 76xx series & ATI sort of ended by 4xxx Redeon. (I Believe)I need help finding a fast enough card that still provides Theater Mode (in 64 xp OR win 7) it can't be too old cause I do alot of Photoshop + HD Movies.
I tried using softwares like Ultra-Mon, Fusion Display & Secondary Display Video Player etc tweaked all the settings with Video Overlay etc. concluded that Intel HD Graphics series is biggest pieces of dog poo cards ever built.So please advise me which card to get which is old but fast enough & have Theater Mode or Video Mirroring feature.. Jul 25, 2012I bought a used hp tower with twin xeon dual core processors a few months ago. It was a great machime but only has dvd rom. I wanted to burn a disc but couldnt, so I tool my old ISE Dvd drive out of my old computer, bought new only about 1year ago. I insterted it and a screen came up say that my system configuration had changed and press F1 to accept the changes. I did this and then it faild to boot!
I have removed the dvd drive and tried again but the same, will not boot. I then removed the original dvd drive and you guessed it, still wont boot.
I have run windows repair but nothing. How can I get it to boot without reinstalling? I only have 1 hard drive (sata) and stupidly havent done a backup (doh!!)

"USB device Not Recognized. One of the Usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows doesn't recognize it".
It works fine for other devices, only for this one gives me this error. I tried to reinstall the drivers again but in vain. I even reinstalled my system and it gives me the same error when I try to connect my nokia c3.

May 8, 2011I have a desktop running win 7 64 bit with broadband supplied by Virgin media cable. I also have another desktop computer which is not being used on which I am going to reinstall XP for my wife to use. I originally reformatted the hard disk as I thought I was going to sell it. I want this PC to have a wireless connection. I have the netgear router supplied by Virgin and I know I need to buy a wireless adapter for my wifes pc, this will probably be a TP Link card. I want the main PC to be hard wired and only my wife's PC to be wireless.

Aug 3, 2011I have an Asus G73 laptop that I am wanting to do a system recovery on. It works but it's very qwirky and has occasional lock ups. Somehow, one of the automatic Windows updates that was installed deleted all of my old restore points, all the way back to when I first bought the thing. Anyway, I can't get it to burn a full set of recovery disks which is apparently not that uncommon with these machine. Asus actualy responded to an inquiry I sent them (although it takes like, two weeks to get each reply. The dialog has been going on for weeks). They told me to go ahead and do the F9 on start up and tell it to restore the OS partition.
- Asus recommended that I just do the "restore Windows to first partition only". This will leave the other partitions as is. I have a second partition that is for data, games, etc. There is also a third partition that is for MS Office 2010 if I ever decided to purchase the program and activate it. I have all the Office software I need from work so I don't need this third partition. Actualy what I would like to do is just have one large partition with everything on it, including the recovery directory and the OS, restored back to exactly like it was the day I got it. Can this be done with the F9 on start up method?

Mar 20, 2012Because a previous virus had changed my registry in a diffrerent PC where I could no longer do a restore (deleted restore points), I made this registry change to this new PC. I changed the permissions in the SystemRestore folder for users to Deny on Full Control and Read. I also made a registry backup in case something went wrong. Well something did go wrong and now I cannot do any restores even after I imported my registry backup.
I get the following error: SystemRestore cannot be opened. An error is preventing this key from being opened. Details: Access is denied. How can I undo the mess I made. Using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.Is there a way to reset the permissions back to default. You will need to run 'Subinacl Tool' to reset the permission to normal. To reset system permissions, follow the steps:
1. Download subinacl.msi from link, and save it on the desktop. [URL]
2. On the desktop, double-click subinacl.msi to install the tool.
3. Select C:WindowsSystem32 as the destination folder. Note This step assumes that Windows is installed in C:Windows. If Windows is installed elsewhere, select the appropriate path to .System32.
4. Open Notepad.

Dec 28, 2011About 3 weeks ago, I was using a public WIFI connection. *something* went wrong, my computer froze up, and ever since, my system icons have been disabled and I can only connect to my home WIFI connection - by going to the control panel and manually connecting. Since I no longer have my connectivity icon, I can not view the available networks, and therefore cannot select one to connect to. Only my home WIFI connection works.This is bad, since I will be moving soon and leaving my home network. I have tried every tutorial I have found.....my last resort would be reinstalling the OS...but I'm not even sure that would work. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Windows Network Location: Public Versus Home At Home?
Jun 12, 2011I'm reimaging one of my home systems that I intend to use as a "sterile" system (I will visit very a very limited selection sites on it, such as banking sites). I'm considering establishing the network location as "Public" instead of "Home", rationale being this would help prevent cross infection from other computers on my home network if they get a worm or virus. I do have friends that come over and hop on my network sometimes and who knows what contamination their systems have. Is this being overly paranoid? Will it cause annoying problems for this sterile system or other systems in my home network? I don't intend to share anything on this system with other computers on my home network. Seems to me that this ought to be the recommended setting for any computer always ... you can always share files using a USB drive if you really need to. Thoughts? Again maybe I am being overly paranoid. Back in the day there used to be worms that would look for ways to hop from system to system over the network, maybe that's much much harder these days. I do have a router between the DSL modem and my home network and I do run Norton Internet Security on all my systems?

Sep 19, 2011I generally have about 6 or so home pages that can change quite frequently, and since upgrading to IE9 it has been much more difficult to manage them. The Home icon is not always present, depending on which shortcut I use to open IE9. And the down arrow next to it is generally not there. I've tried turning on the Command Bar, which helps but takes up more screen real estate than I'd like, because I have quite a few items in the Favorites bar. Is there anyone that has found a better way to manage the homepages?

Ive downloaded countless driver programs which tell you what sound card you have and not one has detected it. IVE ALSO downloaded drivers for the Windows 7 version of my sound (Realtek AC97) and ran windows updates and NONE worked. ive ran the troubleshooter on the sound thing...STILL not detecting any sound card. i tried changing the audio in BIOS from auto - enabled....nothing.
