Clone Existing 128Gb SSD To New 256Gb SSD?

Dec 19, 2010

I've got a Lenovo T410s with a 128 gig SSD & I want to create an image to then put straight on a new 256 gig SSD.I've tried Macrium Reflect (paid for version), but when I then put the drive in, it doesn't boot. Macrium only lets you select 1 partition at a time, so I tried going through it selecting the system drive, then the O/S drive (C), then the D Drive (data) and then the Lenovo recovery partition, but still when I remove the 128 and boot from the the 256-no joy.

Transfer OS From Old 64gb Ssd To New 256gb SSD?

May 20, 2012

Can you recommend me the best way to transfer OS from old 64gb ssd to new 256gb ssd? My prev 64gb only had my os installed. So i presume that to upgrade to a new 256gb i just need to install an os and it will work the same way as the old 64 gb?

Anybody able to help me with this problem? I currently have the new 256gb installed with windows 7. However when i replace the old 64gb with the new 256 gb it states that the bootmgr is missing. Bios seems to detect the new 256 gb.

i would like to have my 256gb replace the 64 gb and operate the same way as my 64 gb without any changes.

New 128GB Not Playing Movies

Feb 10, 2013

I purchased two 128BG USB Flash drives from Ebay that came from China, so i know they are not the best quality. But this is really weird. On one of them can only play four movies, if i copy a fifth movie or more, none of them or al of the rest will not play. The other USB is the same, but that one can hold and play nine movies not more. I tried formatting them the fast way and the long way.

Move Windows 7 64Bit From 128GB SSD To 256 GB SSD?

Nov 7, 2011

I have Acronis home plus. In order to move everything from my 128GB SSD would I just use Acronis to backup the 128GB and then use an Acronis startup disk to restore the backupimage to the bigger SSD?What about programs that rely on "hardware" id for licensing?Or would it be more feasible to just move only FSX to the bigger SSD.?Wouldn't there still be problems for programsaddons such as aircraft.?There is that pesky registry. If I remove FSX from my "C" drive I regain ~75GBs of space. Right now I have 28GBs remaining.

1) move all of my current "C" to the bigger SSD

2) move only FSX to the bigger SSD

3 just reinstall FSX on the bigger SSD and,re-license everything again.( not what I want to do )What i am trying to avoid is reinstalling FSX?

How To Copy System From 64gb Msata To New 128gb

Jun 30, 2012

My Dell XPS 8500 has an MSATA slot in which I have a 64 gb msata board which acts as the system and boot drive. I have just purchased a 128 gb msata board I want to install in place of the 64gb unit. My system also has a 1 tb main hard drive. I have tried a system restore DVD and Back/Restore, neither has worked at all. All I want to do is find a way to do a complete copy of the 64gb msata now installed and then replace it with the 128gb unit and copy over all of the data that was on the 64gb one. This way all I have done will be to have more storage available on my system drive, the msata drive.

Clone HDD To New HDD?

May 23, 2012

I built some computers for the local Verizon stores a while back and the guys have pretty much destroyed them. I would like to set up one system and clone the drive so that all four systems are identical. Each system is completely identical to the next as far as hardware goes. Can anyone suggest a high quality program to duplicate the first drive that is simple and quick? Time is very important as the systems cannot be down for to long.

Clone From SSD To Another SSD?

Sep 14, 2012

Because my current SSD has been giving me way too many problems mainly with BSODing randomly, and after reading that lots of people have similar reliability problems with the same model, I want to get a new SSD soon. However, I want to save time and just be able to clone exactly what I have onto the new drive.

I've heard that cloning from a HDD to SSD will cause problems. However I am talking about SSD to SSD.

The drive I plan on buying will still use a Sandforce controller, and will be the same capacity. Specifically my current one is the Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240gb and I want to get the Kingston 3K HyperX 240gb.

The Kingston SSD I plan on getting should come with software that lets me clone, which I think is the Acronis one. What do I need to do to successfully and seamlessly transition my entire system onto the new SSD?

Therefore can anyone suggest a way to clone the HDD and deploy on to the larger HDD and hopefully pop it in the laptop and off i go..

Now, this laptop is on a company domain so I dont think any cloning tool will put it back on the domain so how does cloning work with domain laptops?

Unable To Clone Drive?

Jan 28, 2013

I have an issue when trying to clone my main drive (a 64Gb SSD) whereby the clone fails shortly after starting with an Error code "Failed to prepare operations code: 10 'file system error is found' with extended code: 458,777 File record corrupt". I am using Acronis but get the same result using other cloning software. The clone partitions the destination disc and then produces the error code when looking/checking the file system. I have narrowed the issue down to the winsxs folder and in particular the files beginning amd64* & x86* by using acronis file back-up facility and attempting to back-up the winsxs file. I have copied the winsxs folder to another drive and can successfully back-up this folder in it's new location using acronis. I should add that checkdsk and SFC do not return any errors on the source files/folder and I have in the past cloned this drive successfully.

Clone 60Gb SSD To 250Gb HDD - Not Working So Far

Apr 4, 2012

I have tried everything by the book and have no luck. Here's the problem, I have a 4 drive setup:

-60Gb SSD (Windows 7 Ult x64 + some programs) (c)
-30Gb SSD (i)
-1Tb HDD (h)
-250Gb HDD (empty reserved for Win) (f)

As the 60Gb SSD drive is full I want to migrate the whole drive to the empty 250Gb HDD. Of course, no need to say that I want everything to run afterwards without any re-installs (also the files on i and h). I have tried many clone software (Paragon, EaseUS ToDo etc) and the clone goes ok, but it wont boot from the destination drive. Luckily enough I still have the original c drive otherwise I would be stuck! I also looked at the Windows backup and restore, but by default it want to clone all my drives and I cant deselect them (over a Tb of a backup??)

Now what can I do to get this sorted? I just want contents of the 60Gb SSD (with Windows 7) on the empty 250Gb HDD. Also, when cloned, the new drive is not 'c' anymore. How would all programs/files work? Or is the idea that you delete the original drive and then rename the copy to 'c'? I probably do something wrong, but a clean install would take days (as web designer I use loads of software and not looking forward to reinstall all those).

Clone A System Partition Onto A New Drive?

(It's on IDE, now)Did disk copy not copy some of the files I need to boot with my SSD? Or did I not copy all the correct partitions?

Boot Error After Clone To New Samsung 830 SSD

I installed a new Samsung 830 SSD in my ASUS G74SX last night using Norton Ghost and while the clone worked as far as I can tell. I get the same blue screen and when I manually start explorer the drive letter for the SSD is E: rather than C: I think fixing that would remedy the issue but it won't let me change the drive path with the OS in use.

Clone Disk - Random Reboot

Dec 9, 2009

I have dozend of idendical PCs - same mainboard, vga, HDD, LAN, RAM .. all is the same

instead of installing each PC manuell I setup one PC and use Acronis or Ghost to DNA copy the hard disk sector by sector

for xp64 all is working like a charm - after clone I set IP and PC name and that it

for Windows 7 prof. I do the same but my PC randomly reboot within 3min to 40min

I have

-no hint in event log (expect impropper shutdown)

-stoped most services

-killed all task

-no bluescreen, popup, error message

-"disable reboot on system failur" do not affect

-disabled all onboard hardware bios and disabled non importent devices

-lastest drivers (or factory drivers)

-disable all "energy save" options

-installed all Windows 7 updates and fixes

-Windows 7 boot without problems

-common up to date hardware

only "save mode" is stabil and not reboot (within 12 hour tested)

I install Windows 7 -> plug disk to other PC (new hardware found message about HDD) -> pc permanent reboot randomly within 3 min -> disk back to source PC -> all fine

I have no clue what to do.

Clone / Copy XP Installation On Drive C: To D:

Dec 31, 2009

I'm preparing to upgrade to 7 Pro. My current system has drive C: with XP...and Drive D: with Win 2000. I want to wipe D: and copy/clone my existing XP Pro on C: to D:...and then install fresh 7 Pro upgrade on C:

Question is what's the best way to clone/copy my good XP installation on drive C: to D: and maintain a bootable XP Pro on the newly transferred to drive D: ?

For the time being I want to set up a dual boot between my new 7 installation on C: and my XP Pro bootable installation migrated/copied/cloned to drive D:

Reason of course is my current C: drive is a much larger/faster drive than my current D: so I'd rather have Windows 7 Pro on the current C: drive with XP Pro running now

What's the best way to copy/clone XP on C: to a bootable XP on drive D: ?

Clone A Mac Hard Drive Using Windows 7?

May 14, 2011

I was wondering if there was anyway to clone or backup a Mac Hard drive from a Windows 7 machine. My friend's Mac got destroyed but managed to save the harddrive and left it with me to back up while he went on vacation.

Unfortunately I've never touched a Mac before and I'm assuming it won't even read the drive if I plug it into my PC since it uses HFS+.

I have with me the following things

- A Windows 7 PC and a Hard Drive Dock
- The 250GB HD from the broken Mac
- A Blank 256GB SSD that he wants to use.

Is there any software on Windows that will let me clone/backup the drive or read from it
