View 10 RepliesI had a perfectly working 250GB SATA HDD that I tried to clone to a 1 TB SATA HDD. I used EASEUS's free disk copy software. The clone said it would tas the one being cloned and not written to. The cloned drive had the data on it, but it was just corrupted because the clone never finished. I tried to get into recovery console from the Windows 7 CD, and it kept sayike about an hour and 20 minutes, and I read that it would be quicker, as all the free space would not need to clone over sector by sector. I aborted so that I could use different software that would quick clone. Anyway, afterwards, neither HDD would boot. The source drive should boot, as all it wang it was the wrong version. Basically the program screwed up both my hard drives.
Finally, I was able to get into a UEFI recovery console that allowed me to see that the cloning program somehow changed my partitions into GPT. The source hard drive is all intact, and I'm pretty sure the only thing that is screwed up is the partition types and perhaps the boot record. Is there a way I can edit the partitions to make them back to normal and bootable again?
My current hard drive is dying, so claims Windows and Hitachi Drive Fitness Test. I bought a replacement drive 3TB drive which requires GPT partitioning. I have 64 bit windows and a UEFI motherboard, so I know I can use the drive as a boot drive for a brand new installation.
My question is how do I move the entire contents of my old drive to this new drive and keep it bootable?
I asked on other another site and they suggested I first let the Windows installation disk partition the drive GPT correctly for Windows, then copy the contents of the old drive to the new one. However, another person on that site said that that would break all the symlinks (didn't know symlinks played such a crucial role in the OS) and that I should use a cloning utility that knows how to copy NTFS. Was this person off base, or is it impossible to create a bootable copy of a Windows installation by just copying all the files (this would be from live linux of some type, not Windows itself)? If it is impossible, is there a utility that can copy the contents of a partition correctly, without needing to clone the entire partition table? Also, I have no room to make an image of my old drive anywhere.
Finally, does anyone know if clonezilla can copy an mbr partition to a gpt partition automatically, essentially doing exactly what I need, or will it always copy the partition scheme as well?
I have dozend of idendical PCs - same mainboard, vga, HDD, LAN, RAM .. all is the same
instead of installing each PC manuell I setup one PC and use Acronis or Ghost to DNA copy the hard disk sector by sector
for xp64 all is working like a charm - after clone I set IP and PC name and that it
for Windows 7 prof. I do the same but my PC randomly reboot within 3min to 40min
I have
-no hint in event log (expect impropper shutdown)
-stoped most services
-killed all task
-no bluescreen, popup, error message
-"disable reboot on system failur" do not affect
-disabled all onboard hardware bios and disabled non importent devices
-lastest drivers (or factory drivers)
-disable all "energy save" options
-installed all Windows 7 updates and fixes
-Windows 7 boot without problems
-common up to date hardware
only "save mode" is stabil and not reboot (within 12 hour tested)
I install Windows 7 -> plug disk to other PC (new hardware found message about HDD) -> pc permanent reboot randomly within 3 min -> disk back to source PC -> all fine
I have no clue what to do.
I replaced the old 1T disc with a new 2T disc by clone it. Several days later, windows 7 -Not Genuine pop up.

I installed a new Samsung 830 SSD in my ASUS G74SX last night using Norton Ghost and while the clone worked as far as I can tell. I get the same blue screen and when I manually start explorer the drive letter for the SSD is E: rather than C: I think fixing that would remedy the issue but it won't let me change the drive path with the OS in use.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a hitachi 2tb 5400rpm drive, with my OS installed on a 500GB partition (100gb free). I just got a 1tb samsung spinpoint f3 which i want to use as my boot drive. I have tried 3 methods: 1. Downloaded clonezilla, and used tuxboot to create a bootable flashdrive with clonezilla. I used the i686 image of clonezilla. I made a partition on the samsung drive which is 10GB larger than the boot partition on the hitachi. 2. I used the windows utility to make a back-up image of my bootdrive. I then made a bootable copy of windows 7 live install on a flash drive. Booted off it and tried to restore from that system image. I got an error: The system image restore failed. Error: Error details: The parameter is incorrect.(0x80070057) 3. Same as method 2, but I used a CD instead. This time, i got this error: System image restore to new drive fails. 0x80042414
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony C series 64 bit laptop. I have a 2.5" IDE drive from my old laptop which has XP.
I was thinking to image Win 7 on my Sony to a cd; so that I have a clean disk. How can I then clone my XP ide drive onto the new laptop drive - which is an Hitachi ATA (mSata?) - so that I will have a dual boot system? Although if the XP works fine, that is what I will use.
I do a sysprep 1st, then use Bart PE. However I believe Bart PE only goes to XP SP3, and I only have the whole drive - with all my docs on it. No installation disk.
Do I need to do a "sysprep"? Is it possible to "slipstream" a whole drive with all the necessary drivers? Will it be an issue if the XP is 32 bit, and my new machine is 64bit?
I can boot up ok. But the boot drive makes clicking sound sometimes and makes the computer slower, especially when waking up from a sleepI tried using Acronis to clone the drive. It crashed as soon as the drive makes the first clicking sound and nothing is cloned.ince I can boot from the drive, if I use windows explorer to copy all the good files including the hidden files to a new drive, is there a way to then "sys" the new drive like in windows XP to make it bootable into windows 7

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been having this error even after reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7 on my desktop. I've done reformatting / reinstalling Windows 7 several times, yet the problem still occurs. I'm thinking of my HDD as being corrupted or messed up. The problem occurred after I accidentally hit the CPU when I was stretching my foot. The screen froze after that. Upon rebooting it, 'Disk boot failure, Insert system disk and press enter' occurs. After I entered the DVD installer of Windows 7, the screen just hangs.

I've tweaked my BIOS over and over, but the same problem persists. The drive is brand new and fine. What can I do?

I want to do a 'custom' reinstall on my C: drive. It's clogged with unused programs and it runs very slow.I set the BOIS to boot from HD and CD; neither worked. I purchased a new HD and may want to install it as my C: drive.I set the BOIS to boot from CD; still I get the dreaded message:"Disk boot failure insert system disk and and press enter"I recently installed a new mother board due to the fact it was defective, not as an upgrade. To make it clear I already had Win7 Ultimate installed. On my first attempt to perform #1 I got to the question of which install did I want; I clicked 'custom'. From then on nothing happened, and now I keep getting "THE DREADED MESSAGE".I put my win7 disk in another OSXP computer and it displayed, "This disk is not compatible with this system" so I assumed my disc was not corrupt.I bought my win7 disk legally on line a couple of years ago, and I have used it once. Will that be the problem? I never got to the "License key" so I don't see how it could be?
View 4 Replies View Related2 months ago, I installed windows 7 pro with no problems at all. Fast forward to today, I decided to reformat because the boot would get stuck in the middle of trying to boot into windows, it wouldn't flash the windows logo. I didn't think much of it so I just reformatted. This is where my real troubles began. So I reinstall windows 7 pro with no problems (the boot disk is in there the cd drive the entire time) I install my programs and what not and install my updates. All 100% Fine. Then I take out the boot disk and restart again... and I get this error message saying:
Nvidia Boot Agent 229.0525
Copyright 2001-2005 Nvidia Corp
Copyright 1997-2000 Intel Corp
Client Mac Address: 00 30 1B BC1F59 GUID: 12973077-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFF DCHP....
Then I press escape, then it says this:
PXE-EA0: Network Boot Canceled
PXE-M0F: Exiting Nvidia Boot Agent
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
So the first time I got this error, I just thought, Oh, something must have happened no big deal, so I reformatted again and again. But I kept on getting the same exact error. It'll load into windows just fine when my install disc is in the cd drive, but when I take it out, that error pops up. *My windows is authentic, each time I have been able to validate my copy.* I have tried installing from my hard drive and from the install disc with same error.*

I built some computers for the local Verizon stores a while back and the guys have pretty much destroyed them. I would like to set up one system and clone the drive so that all four systems are identical. Each system is completely identical to the next as far as hardware goes. Can anyone suggest a high quality program to duplicate the first drive that is simple and quick? Time is very important as the systems cannot be down for to long.
View 9 Replies View RelatedBecause my current SSD has been giving me way too many problems mainly with BSODing randomly, and after reading that lots of people have similar reliability problems with the same model, I want to get a new SSD soon. However, I want to save time and just be able to clone exactly what I have onto the new drive.
I've heard that cloning from a HDD to SSD will cause problems. However I am talking about SSD to SSD.
The drive I plan on buying will still use a Sandforce controller, and will be the same capacity. Specifically my current one is the Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240gb and I want to get the Kingston 3K HyperX 240gb.
The Kingston SSD I plan on getting should come with software that lets me clone, which I think is the Acronis one. What do I need to do to successfully and seamlessly transition my entire system onto the new SSD?
I got a laptop with tons of data and application, so I have got a bigger hard drive, i dont really want to copy the data over nor reinstall the apps on the new HDD. Therefore can anyone suggest a way to clone the HDD and deploy on to the larger HDD and hopefully pop it in the laptop and off i go..
Now, this laptop is on a company domain so I dont think any cloning tool will put it back on the domain so how does cloning work with domain laptops?
I just got a new SSD and installed it, it shows in BIOS, assigned a paritation letter (E) to it, tried to clone it with Macrium and Easeus but they Macrium displays an error after a while and Easeus just stucks after a while.
Macrium error displays: bad86d19ab8ec315621073b18526d36b.png
Easeus is just stuck at 2%.
