Cannot Get Access To "Updates For Other Microsoft Products"?
Nov 10, 2010
I am trying to get Office updates on Windows 7 HP, but when I click on the "Find out more" link to activate Microsoft update nothing happens - it behaves as it were a dead link.I'm wondering if this may be because IE isn't installed as I have a European version that shipped without it and I use Firefox as my browser.Windows updates works fine. A vista box I have worked OK too - I recall it opened the update website which made me think the abscence of IE was the issue.Browsing to the update site manually just tells me that access is through the control panel now.
I just reinstalled Windows 7 on a asus eeepc 1005pe. I modified the iso with rt7lite and removed some components (like multi-media in IE). I wanted to make it lighter, as this is a pretty crappy PC. Anyhow. I installed, all is working fine. No bugs/problems, except for the fact I cannot enable updates for other microsoft products. When I click on 'find out more' nothing happens.. no response.
MGADiagtool report here > cannot enable updates for other microsoft products

Does anyone know if it is possible to download all the Windows 7 'System and Security Updates' to date as an .ISO file that would produce a DVD with all the updates since day one. I re-install Windows 7 x64 quite often on several PCs and it's always a time-consuming pain to wait for the updates to slowly trickle in from Microsoft. I have browsed the MS site looking for such an item, to no avail.
i finally got my new rig up and running. Install was a breeze and everything seemed to work like it should. I go to the Microsoft Update page and download all the security patches. When the computer needs to be restarted to finish the installation, it hangs up and just sits there until I restart the computer. Just curious if anyone has had this issue and if there was a solution. It is annoying to have a brand new setup with a OS that freezes quite often. And wtf happened to Paint? They ruined it.
I have just bought an Acer V3-531 and Microsoft keep trying to install updates but the computer automatically switches off before all 3 updates are installed. We are therefore in a loop of msoft trying to install updates and the computer swiching off before they are all loaded. Can I make the machine stay on longer before switching off?
I have Windows 7 Ultimate and I have my Windows Update settings set to "Download updates but let me choose whether to install them." The reason I use this setting is because even though I usually install the updates (because mostly they improve things), sometimes I'll see an update that I know I do not want to install. So I want to have control over which updates get installed. However, I ALWAYS want to install the latest "Definition Update For Microsoft Security Essentials", and since those updates are released very frequently, it's very annoying to always have to install them manually. Is there a way that I can have ONLY those definition updates installed automatically while still leaving it so that all other updates are not automatically installed?
I am using a windows8 x64 version.i installed 3ds max and worked well for days, but now when i open it it says 3ds max has stopped working. Also when i install adobe cs5 suite some applications were unable to install.. I've been trying for a couple of days to download Microsoft silverlight to a laptop. I can't play any netflix without this. However, I can't access Microsoft or any links associated with Microsoft.I can't access any links to it anywhere.
I have Windows 7 64 bit and 8 gb ram (the most that the MB will accept. I had a spare 16gb ready boost compatiable USB drive and used it for Ready Boost. Seems a little bit quicker. My question is this: ReabyBoost is addressing 4 GB of the 16gb. I think this is all it is supposed to do. Can I used the remain 12 gb for storage or as a working area for products without compromising Ready boost?
Each day i try to go on the internet but I have to use a restore point prior to January 24, 2011 in order for my computer to go online. If I allow the newer Microsoft updates, my computer tells me that I have a connection problem and cannot connect. I am connected with a Netgear ethernet switch.
I have windows 7 pro version installed on my desktop, 500 GB seagate 7200 rpm HDD, intel i5 4 GB RAM. This is not required, but I am posting the hardware details. My query is that previously I used to be able to access the hidden files on my C drive, now I am not able to access them. I need to access the data files of microsoft outlook ( I have microsoft outlook 2010) installed, so that I could run synch pst for outlook. I have long back put a check mark in the folder options to allow me to see the hidden system files, but yet i am not able to access the. My user account is an administrative account. However these files are accessible by goodsync software which synchronises these files to another drive on the same HDD. I wonder if goodsync have locked these folders. I don't think so because I was able to access them previously. I also created the default administrative account in windows if that works, and logging in under that account also did not help.
Just got Microsoft Multipoint, I have internet but cannot access my home network drives and other computers. In Network and Sharing under the House icon it says that its a private network and when I click on "Private network" it opens a window that allows me to change between a home, work, or public network I click home and then a pop up comes up saying; "The network location is now Private" I dont get it one bit. Also theres a bench icon also but that says unidentified network and "public network" underneath.
I am writing an Access Database which will hold a lot of information about software, books and whatever else I am going to store in there. (Yes, Data entry will take a long time, but not a problem).I have made a query which will search the Books database for Author, and I was wondering how I can make it a little less accurate. So far, It searches for the author using Exact Matching from the input box in the query Code: [Search for author by the name of:] for example, when I want to search for Phillip Pullman, the way that Calibre added the author names, I have to type (Exactly, letter for letter) "Pullman, Philip". Is it possible to make it less accurate so It will bring back results when I search for "Philip" or "pullman" or "philip pullman"?
I have a database called customers with their information (First Name, Last Name, street address etc) I have written a personalized letter and would like to send it to each customer in the database? What I want to do is, Replace "Joe Bloggs" with the name of each of the customers If I had Sue Rain as a customer the letter?
use Toshiba satellite A300. I had a virtual wifi connection o my pc. but its gone for a long. i tried lots of thing; updates, old version drivers, resetting connection with "netsh wlan set hostednetwork ..." cmd command. but i still had "no internet access" error on my virtual wifi connection.
The OS installed some updates, and after re-booting and logging on, I got an error when one application that tried to start up failed to access my local temp file. I have local administrative permissions. I changed my temp folder environment variable to point to a different location, but this is the second time this has happened (first time was on different machine). "Cacls Temp returns Access is denied". I can't take ownership or anything of it.
My spouse's laptop has Windows 7 Professional and it contains a Citrix client VPN access to her work. For some reason, I do not have the details, Windows Updates clobbers the Citrix client, thereby she cannot access her work. Note that Windows performs these updates without asking the user if they want these updates to be performed. We have to uninstall the Windows Updates and reinstall the Citrix client to get her VPN working again. How can I setup her laptop to block (or at least ask the user) Windows from performing updates so that it does not affect her Citrix VPN access?
I have an Acer Aspire 5542 Laptop running Windows 7 and have had no problems until recently. I went to check my Hotmail and found I could not get to Hotmail.com then my msn messenger signed out and would not sign back in.
I then noticed that I could not get to any Microsoft site but all other sites work fine. I am a computer tech and run a small home network the laptop being the only machine running windows 7 all other run XP or Linux all other machines can access all Microsoft sites so I am pretty sure the problem lies with the laptop, however after running every scan I can think of and coming up empty I wiped the mbr and recreated the hard drive partition and reinstalled windows with the factory restore disks.
Unfortunately i'm not an expert in Microsoft Access 2010, but i've come across a problem with one of my databases that is running on a Windows 7 computer. The problem is that when the database runs, it has a very very slow response time yet if I copy it to another Windows 7 or XP computer the response time is fast.So far I have updated the computer with Windows 7 updates, and modified the registry buffer size to 50000 in the Access Connectivity Engine setting, but the Microsoft Access database is still very slow
For the past day windows wants to install the same 4 updates over and over, I have windows update set to download and let me choose when to install.
I can't understand why I even need them, as I uninstalled net framework. Notice how the update at 8:17 AM., KB2656368, is the same as one of the 4 updates installed at 7:47 PM. Windows wants to install the same four kb files again. How do I stop this?

A while ago this afternoon I was reinstalling all of my programs back after formatting and the power went out while the setup was in progress. Now when I try to install again I get this message:This is getting seriously frustrating, what can I do?
Windows Updates continues to re-install five specific updates which are:*Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2604121) -Download size: 38.5 MB.*Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2656368) -Download size: 1.8 MB.*Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2656405) -Download size: 11.7 MB.*Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2686827) -Download size: 4.3 MB.*Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2600217) -Download size: 32.2 MB.- I purchased my computer 4 to 5 months ago. It is a Windows 7 Home Premium Hewlett-packard HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC (64-bit Operating System).
For a while now I have been experiencing a strange problem. My laptop keeps changing the Windows Updates without my consent. I know this has been raised in the past but my problem is slightly different.I prefer to choose "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download or install them", however periodically the settings change without my consent to "Never check for updates".This is very frustrating as I am constantly having to keep an eye on this, and change the settings back to what they were in order to receive critical updates, or indeed any other update. The laptop was bought new just under 12 months ago and came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit pre-installed.Has anyone else experienced this, or can anyone advise on a fix?
My wifes computer has been acting up for about a week now. IE 8 is not loading properly and is crashing. I am unable to connect to MSE to get updates or to Windows to get updates. I have run Malwarebytes and Emsisoft and neither one can find a bug. Chrome works for a while and the she gets the AW SNAP message.
