View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if it is possible to download all the Windows 7 'System and Security Updates' to date as an .ISO file that would produce a DVD with all the updates since day one. I re-install Windows 7 x64 quite often on several PCs and it's always a time-consuming pain to wait for the updates to slowly trickle in from Microsoft. I have browsed the MS site looking for such an item, to no avail.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi finally got my new rig up and running. Install was a breeze and everything seemed to work like it should. I go to the Microsoft Update page and download all the security patches. When the computer needs to be restarted to finish the installation, it hangs up and just sits there until I restart the computer. Just curious if anyone has had this issue and if there was a solution. It is annoying to have a brand new setup with a OS that freezes quite often. And wtf happened to Paint? They ruined it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been hassling with a new Windows 7 laptop for weeks now. The external mic and line in was not working. Dell finally told me to go back to factory settings. After I did that today, I tried to tweak all the settings back to how I want them, but I'm stumped by the annoying message on startup that announces that I'm not connected, and that there must be something wrong. I got rid of it when I first got the computer, but now it shows me the weather and (wrong) time, which I don't remember from last time.I managed to make this message disappear when I first got this computer, but now I can't figure out how to do that. I think it may have something to do with automatic updates of some program. Does anyone know how to stop Windows from trying to automatically connect?
I suspect that this may also be interfering with Skype logging in. I read on the Skype support site that automatically updating programs could impact Skype. At this point it just keeps trying to log in, but just hangs there forever. I just used it yesterday without any trouble before I reinstalled, so I assume some setting needs tweaking on the reinstall.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just reinstalled Windows 7 on a asus eeepc 1005pe. I modified the iso with rt7lite and removed some components (like multi-media in IE). I wanted to make it lighter, as this is a pretty crappy PC. Anyhow. I installed, all is working fine. No bugs/problems, except for the fact I cannot enable updates for other microsoft products. When I click on 'find out more' nothing happens.. no response.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure what's going on so I'll quickly describe what I've been experiencing. First off, this a three month old computer. I don't use any P2P applications. I'm good at not clicking false links, etc. I'm up to date with Microsoft Updates and all of my software is up to date as well. I ran a virus scan and it came back completely clean. Sunday afternoon, I left my computer up with a bunch of windows open in Google Chrome. Everything was fine. I came back and no web pages would load. I disconnected my ethernet cable and plugged it back in. Everything was fine for a little while. Then everything started getting choppy. Programs were taking forever to open and once they did, the entire computer started lagging. For example, songs in iTunes would pause for about a half a second and jump right back in. It happened almost routinely, every 3-4 seconds. The mouse cursor was also jumping. I restarted and the same effects were observed. I can no longer open any MS Office products. This REALLY screws the computer up. I opened task manager and I can see Powerpoint, for example, running in the background and using about 100kb of memory. "End Process" does not even end the process. I tried using PSKill.exe to kill the process, but to no avail.
