I just reinstalled Windows 7 on a asus eeepc 1005pe. I modified the iso with rt7lite and removed some components (like multi-media in IE). I wanted to make it lighter, as this is a pretty crappy PC. Anyhow. I installed, all is working fine. No bugs/problems, except for the fact I cannot enable updates for other microsoft products. When I click on 'find out more' nothing happens.. no response.
MGADiagtool report here > cannot enable updates for other microsoft products
I recently installed GTX670 SLI in my machine and run some benchmarks to test it is all working.
Afterwards, I did a clean format complete re-install with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 with updates. It appears now when I shut down my machine, windows turns off the display and seems to shut down but does NOT turn off the fans/LEDs on my computer.
I then re-installed a clean windows 7, installed my drivers ONLY (no windows updates) and it shuts down/turns the computer off fine.

Does anyone know if it is possible to download all the Windows 7 'System and Security Updates' to date as an .ISO file that would produce a DVD with all the updates since day one. I re-install Windows 7 x64 quite often on several PCs and it's always a time-consuming pain to wait for the updates to slowly trickle in from Microsoft. I have browsed the MS site looking for such an item, to no avail.
i finally got my new rig up and running. Install was a breeze and everything seemed to work like it should. I go to the Microsoft Update page and download all the security patches. When the computer needs to be restarted to finish the installation, it hangs up and just sits there until I restart the computer. Just curious if anyone has had this issue and if there was a solution. It is annoying to have a brand new setup with a OS that freezes quite often. And wtf happened to Paint? They ruined it.
I have just bought an Acer V3-531 and Microsoft keep trying to install updates but the computer automatically switches off before all 3 updates are installed. We are therefore in a loop of msoft trying to install updates and the computer swiching off before they are all loaded. Can I make the machine stay on longer before switching off?
I use windows 7 ultimate x86 and i had installed MSE on my desktop before 6 months it was working fine till today but suddenly today it is not showing in the taskbar near the right corner of screen, and whenever i try to double click its icon on desktop then it shows up for a second and then vanishes and dosent start at all.
everytime I put the disk in and start set up it comes up as download outlook 2007 first from disk 1 before downloading outlook 2007 with calendar manager - thr=ere is only one disk anyway
I have Windows 7 Ultimate and I have my Windows Update settings set to "Download updates but let me choose whether to install them." The reason I use this setting is because even though I usually install the updates (because mostly they improve things), sometimes I'll see an update that I know I do not want to install. So I want to have control over which updates get installed. However, I ALWAYS want to install the latest "Definition Update For Microsoft Security Essentials", and since those updates are released very frequently, it's very annoying to always have to install them manually. Is there a way that I can have ONLY those definition updates installed automatically while still leaving it so that all other updates are not automatically installed?
For the past day windows wants to install the same 4 updates over and over, I have windows update set to download and let me choose when to install.
I can't understand why I even need them, as I uninstalled net framework. Notice how the update at 8:17 AM., KB2656368, is the same as one of the 4 updates installed at 7:47 PM. Windows wants to install the same four kb files again. How do I stop this?

I am trying to get Office updates on Windows 7 HP, but when I click on the "Find out more" link to activate Microsoft update nothing happens - it behaves as it were a dead link.I'm wondering if this may be because IE isn't installed as I have a European version that shipped without it and I use Firefox as my browser.Windows updates works fine. A vista box I have worked OK too - I recall it opened the update website which made me think the abscence of IE was the issue.Browsing to the update site manually just tells me that access is through the control panel now.
Windows Updates continues to re-install five specific updates which are:*Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2604121) -Download size: 38.5 MB.*Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2656368) -Download size: 1.8 MB.*Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2656405) -Download size: 11.7 MB.*Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2686827) -Download size: 4.3 MB.*Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2600217) -Download size: 32.2 MB.- I purchased my computer 4 to 5 months ago. For a while now I have been experiencing a strange problem. My laptop keeps changing the Windows Updates without my consent. I know this has been raised in the past but my problem is slightly different.I prefer to choose "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download or install them", however periodically the settings change without my consent to "Never check for updates".This is very frustrating as I am constantly having to keep an eye on this, and change the settings back to what they were in order to receive critical updates, or indeed any other update. The laptop was bought new just under 12 months ago and came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit pre-installed.Has anyone else experienced this, or can anyone advise on a fix?
My wifes computer has been acting up for about a week now. IE 8 is not loading properly and is crashing. I am unable to connect to MSE to get updates or to Windows to get updates. I have run Malwarebytes and Emsisoft and neither one can find a bug. Chrome works for a while and the she gets the AW SNAP message.
I did search out this problem...very old posts recommended I start a new thread. For the last 2 weeks every time I shut down automatic install...installs the same 8 updates.

I have a problem regarding my MICROSOFT ISATAP x422 and MICROSOFT TEREDO TUNNELING ADAPTER.going to device manager there is a yellow mark on MICROSOFT ISATAP x422 and MICROSOFT TEREDO TUNNELING ADAPTER icon and i was wondering what was wrong.
I am taking an online college course. When answering questions we were advised to first type our answers into micrsoft word and then copy and paste into the website. The school website only has basic spell check that is the reason for copy and pasting.I have Word 2010 and Windows 7.
Can I upgrade from Windows ultimate 32bit ver 6.1 ( build 7600) to windows 7 ultimate 64bit edition and keep all of my installed programs and files ?[meaning not having them moved to a new folder called windows.old]
I bought the full retail Win 7 Ultimate and trying to upgrade Windows Vista Ultimate to Win 7 Ultimate, both 32bit. I get to the Expanding Windows files to 21% and nothing. The program is still running and stuck at 21% but after waiting 3 hours I shut power off and Vista was reinstated. Why can't I get past 21% Expanding Windows files? I want to use the upgrade because I have a ton of programs on my Vista and don't want to spend days reinstalling them.
