View 5 RepliesDoes anyone know if it is possible to download all the Windows 7 'System and Security Updates' to date as an .ISO file that would produce a DVD with all the updates since day one. I re-install Windows 7 x64 quite often on several PCs and it's always a time-consuming pain to wait for the updates to slowly trickle in from Microsoft. I have browsed the MS site looking for such an item, to no avail.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi finally got my new rig up and running. Install was a breeze and everything seemed to work like it should. I go to the Microsoft Update page and download all the security patches. When the computer needs to be restarted to finish the installation, it hangs up and just sits there until I restart the computer. Just curious if anyone has had this issue and if there was a solution. It is annoying to have a brand new setup with a OS that freezes quite often. And wtf happened to Paint? They ruined it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just reinstalled Windows 7 on a asus eeepc 1005pe. I modified the iso with rt7lite and removed some components (like multi-media in IE). I wanted to make it lighter, as this is a pretty crappy PC. Anyhow. I installed, all is working fine. No bugs/problems, except for the fact I cannot enable updates for other microsoft products. When I click on 'find out more' nothing happens.. no response.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and I have my Windows Update settings set to "Download updates but let me choose whether to install them." The reason I use this setting is because even though I usually install the updates (because mostly they improve things), sometimes I'll see an update that I know I do not want to install. So I want to have control over which updates get installed. However, I ALWAYS want to install the latest "Definition Update For Microsoft Security Essentials", and since those updates are released very frequently, it's very annoying to always have to install them manually. Is there a way that I can have ONLY those definition updates installed automatically while still leaving it so that all other updates are not automatically installed?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWith the number of updates that come for Windows 7, there must be a lot of space used up by the files which make it possible to uninstall KB updates and hotfixes, and security updates. Is there any way to get rid of these? It is at least a week since an update was installed, and my system is running fine, so I don't see why I should be able to uninstall the 37 updates to Windows listed in Control Panel - Programs and Features - Installed Updates. Some of them go back nearly a year.Over time, these backups are going to take up a significant space in the Wiondows partition.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got a laptop with a Starter version of Microsoft Office 2010 installed on it. As this Starter version does not give full use of the features within Excel, I wanted to install my Home and Student Office 2007. I installed Office 2007 alongside the Starter 2010, however this caused quite a few problems with File associations so I decided to uninstall Office 2010, unfortunately this meant that Office 2007 also did not work as I believe I hadn't installed and uninstalled things in the right order. I therefore did a system restore to when Office Starter 2010 was on the laptop without 2007. I uninstalled both the Office Starter 2010 file and the Office 2010 file from the Program files. I tried to also uninstall the Office 2010 Click to Run file, however this would not uninstall. It just comes up with an error message "this action cannot be completed. try action again. if problem continues, contact microsoft product support". I have now installed Home and Student Office 2007 and it seems to be working, despite the Office 2010 Click to Run file still being on the computer. Is it okay to leave the Click to Run file and the associated Q drive there and be running Office 2007? Or do I need to make sure I eradicate the Click to Run altogether?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get Office updates on Windows 7 HP, but when I click on the "Find out more" link to activate Microsoft update nothing happens - it behaves as it were a dead link.I'm wondering if this may be because IE isn't installed as I have a European version that shipped without it and I use Firefox as my browser.Windows updates works fine. A vista box I have worked OK too - I recall it opened the update website which made me think the abscence of IE was the issue.Browsing to the update site manually just tells me that access is through the control panel now.

I have just purchased a refurbished Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook with windows 7 starter. Not sure if the problem I am experiencing is to do with a dodgy netbook or with the operating system. It set up yesterday without any major issues, a bit slow and sticky at browsing but then on powering it up today it started automatically installing updates. Fine I thought, but now some 10 hrs later it has been stuck on update 62 or 62 for the last 5 hours!
I basically can not do anything and have tried rebooting and switching off despite the screen's advise. I have no start menu and none of the keys are responding not even the F range. So am a complete blonde as you may have gathered on such technical matters anyhow. Should I return or is there a simple solution to fixing the matter?? Screen states 'Please do not power off or unplay your machine. Installing update 62 of 62'.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed a 64bit version of Windows 7 on my computer without removing the old one(32bit). The reason for not removing the old one was that my DVD writer broke so I had to install the 64bit version while still using the 32bit version. I borrowed a friend's memory stick, put the window 7 disc's contents on the USB. I then made it into an image and mounted it. The installation was perfectly fine, got new drivers and all, but when I tried to format(or delete) the C partition on which I have my 32bit windows installed it displayed the following error message http://puu.sh/1YRwa I then stopped the old OS from booting, but I'm stuck here. I still can not format the partition, as it's still a system partition.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat I'd like to do is locate some piece of software on the Internet that would clean all the crap off my computer without specifically having to go through file by file to do it all myself.I could reformat, but then I would have to back up everything I want to keep. It's funny how I can reformat my computer, re-install the stuff I need, and then everything is working spectacularly again. Why is that?I basically want to remove everything that's clogging system resources, remove services that are installed on my computer but are not being used, or not needed, duplicate files that are just taking up system space, invalid, corrupt, duplicate entries within the Registry, etc... But I need to do that without harming my computer.

I also have a 2T ext Hard drive Partitioned into, 3 Partitions,F,(500G)G(500G),H(1T),Back in 10/23/11 i had made a backup of my C:/ to my F:/ with a system image. i attempted to make a End of year backup and system image to the F:/, and the backup said i could not back up to the F:/ or G:/ ( both drives has Data on them but they also have enough free space for the backups),so i decided to use the H:/ to do the backup, the backup is including the F;/ in the backup which i do not want backed up,( because it already has a system image and a backup there already) so i manually told the backup to do the C:/ and it still wants to include the F:/ in the backup, I even reset the Windows backup to the default and tried to do a first time ( let me choose what to back up) and still it wants to include the F:/ in the backup and system image, all i would like to do is a simple backup of my C;/, why does Windows insist on including the F:/ in the backup when i explicitly tell it not to, and how would i go about doing a backup of JUST my C;/ ?,Would i have to remove the initial backup an system image from the F:/?
