View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any difference in xp, vista and windows 7 operating systems regarding. control requests over control pipe.? we have developed drivers for ndis port miniport NDIS driver.its working fine with LTE network in XP and vista. but in case of windows 7 operating systems. when we send control request to stop network to device, we are not getting response from device. we have observed Lecroys usb analyzer logs. we are not getting response. even though we its device side problem. why this issue is not happening in xp and vista.we have two applications for sending control requests to device for starting network.
1) company application.
2) mobile broad band Microsoft provided default application .
this issue happens only with company application. we have compared data in requests send by cm and mobile broadband but no difference.
My system dual boots to either Windows 7 or Vista Ultimate, or, at least it is supposed to. Something happened and now the system just boots to Winodows 7 without giving me the choice to boot to either. When I use F6 I find that only Windows 7 is listed in the Operating Systems box.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSuddenly my Win 7 Home Premium x64 will not boot. The system starts, POSTs then loads the DVD driver, then the screen goes black (not blank but "lit up" black if that makes sense). Then nothing. If I use Hiren's boot cd I can boot up using the "boot from HDD" option fine and Windows operates normally. System restore to a previous configuration made no difference to the original problem. I cannot boot into Safe Mode. F8 just offers me boot order options.
- Running the Windows 7 DVD I find: "No operating system is listed on the Repair Windows option."
- Running Startup Repair finds the following error: "the partition table does not have a valid system partition" which it claims to have repaired, but the error remains and Windows will still not boot.
I followed this advice:
Boot 7 dvd to system recovery options command prompt. Type: Diskpart
list vol (find the vol letter e.g C or partition number e.g. 1 for the system partition )
Sel vol C ( or sel vol 1, obviously use the correct letter or number)
act exi
My system partition was easily identified and listed as healthy so I selected it and made it active. The problem still remains exactly the same. My system is self built just over a year ago, to my knowledge has been running fine, without any hardware issues. I'm prepared to do a clean install if that's what it takes but if there is a way to fix the partition problem without that I'd like to explore it first.
Ran F12 to regain Operating system - long version. Says computer passes everything but there's no operating system found. Did this Twice. Tried "Operating System" CD that came w/ Studio 17 laptop. Hit option to run via CD & never got anywhere after an hour. Tried Reinstall Hardware disk that came w/ laptop. It shows Vista, but laptop came w/ Windows 7. See where it shows the system's checking things out, but never get anywhere.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am currently running on vista basic. I have checked and my PC is compatable for windows 7. I am currrently at college and can get a discount on an upgrade but what are the benefits. I am used to the vista enviroment and use my pc mostly just for web browsing, microsoft works and gaming. Is it worth while upgrading? What are the benefits? Is it going to be easier to use or will i have hassle having to learn how to work a new OS from scratch. I am curious if i should stick to what i know or is windows 7 far more beneficial. If anyone could comment or advise me of the best thing to do i would be grateful.

Now i am not able to boot windows re installation dvd also. i can only take BIOS settings.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just recently installed one of my favorite old games, Starcaft. after playing it for about a week I've found out that there is a 100 milisecond delay on any action you make when using Windows 7. I desided to hook up my old hard drive and It's telling me that it's corrupt, has a virus, I believe because the mother board doesn't recognize it I think. Is there any way that I'd be able to get that hard drive working or maybe ever use it as a second drive, some how?

Problem reports where making the rounds shortly after the final release of the Windows 7 operating system. It is not unusual that some users report problems when installing a new operating system or upgrading their old OS to a new one. Windows 7 in this regard did not get a lot of bad press except for a problem that got reported quite frequently by Windows Vista users who tried to perform an upgrade to Windows 7. These Windows Vista users were experiencing an error at exactly 62% of the update.
Windows performed an automatic rollback to Windows Vista at this point leaving the user puzzled and confused. Some users even experienced an endless reboot problem which would initiate the upgrade process again only to fail again at 62%.
Microsoft has released a Fix-It solution for the problem that the Vista to Windows 7 upgrade hangs at 62%. Fix-It solutions are one-click solutions that will correct a problem that was experienced by the user before. In this case the Vista user needs to click on the Fix-It button on the Microsoft support website after the upgrade failed at 62% to fix the issue and initiate the upgrade again.
Experienced users can also fix the problem manually by following the steps detailed at the very same support page:To resolve this problem yourself, follow these steps:
1. Restart the computer. Then, your computer will roll back to Windows Vista.
2. Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.
3. On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables.
4. Under System variables, click New.
5. Type MIG_UPGRADE_IGNORE_PLUGINS in the Variable name field.
6. Type IphlpsvcMigPlugin.dll in the Variable value field.
7. Click OK three times to close the dialog boxes.
8. Start the upgrade installation again.
Hopefully this fix will help those that have been having issues with the upgrade process.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've searched the net and this forum but can't seem to find an answer. I'm sure it's probably simple but I've never seen it before when I was using XP.Why is there an entry in Startup titled "Windows Operating System"?I'm loathe to uncheck it, I just don't understand why it would be there?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm been working on this problem for over a day now and now I'm stumped.I've read dozens of threads and blogs all over the internet concerning this "operating system not found" problem but none of their problems seem to be the problem that I have.My computer just got extremely laggy and froze into a BSOD (blue screen of death) before turning off and showing me the "operating system not found" message during every boot.Usually when this problem showed up, it turned out to be a hard drive failure, but when I checked my bios, it listed my hard drive as 320gb. (So I'm guessing this has nothing or little to do with my hard drive.)
Here are the things I have tried: Safe modesThe "Launch Startup Repair" (ends up with at start up background and doesn't progress any further)The "Windows Memory Diagnostic""Last Known Good configuration"I've transfered the windows 7 .iso to a bootable usb and started up the laptop it got to the Install Now window and when I press that, the window closes and it shows "setup starting" and just stays like that. The only part that seems to be working like it's supposed to is the quick start/splashtop browser option that doesn't startup anything. (It only opens a browser for internet use and no other programs).I'm guessing the next step should be to open up my laptop and see if any of the cables are loose.ut after that I don't know what else I could do.
Edit- I have just checked and now the operating system not found message doesn't show up. when I start up with regular settings, it just gets to a blue screen and restarts.
I've tried to run the Windows 7 CD to repair but it does see any operating system or recovery points, is there another way to get my computer to start up?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am getting the "Missing Operating System" message on boot. Here is the strange thing...if I change the boot order in the BIOS and have CDROM first and choose not to boot off of it Windows 7 loads fine. If I put HARDDISK first then I get the missing operating system message. I have tried running CHKDSK, BOOTREC and the plain old Windows repair util. None of them have worked.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy computer fell a couple days ago, and I had to get a new hard drive. nfortunately, my mother let my uncle who is NOT a professional install a "new" hard drive, which was actually his old one and came with Linux and not Windows. It worked fine but I wanted Windows, so he did something and installed Windows 7 from a flash drive. And it was great. Until this afternoon, when I accidentally changed the BIOS order and now I'm getting an "operating system not found" message... Is there something wrong with the hard drive (again, it isn't new) or did I just completely mess something up?
