View 14 Replies View RelatedEvery 5 minutes or so , a pop up saying "You need to format the disk in drive g before you can use it" comes up. Problem is, I have no disk in drive g, and nothing connected to my usb ports. So i have no idea what this means. Add to this that the device manager keeps refreshing and will not let me click anything.

I have unchecked "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices" in the Control Panel. I did this a week ago when I started getting these popups and it seemed to work till today when it all started up again. I just noticed that the popup is not appearing, but the drive is appearing and disappearing from my file manager (I use Q-dir).
View 7 Replies View RelatedThis weekend a installed the windows 7 64bit over a vista 32bit. During the installation I left my Samsung S2 HD 500gb plugged in.After the installation the windows didn't find a mass storage controller drive and my HD appeared as Local Drive ( F: ). When I try to access it, this msg comes up: you need to format the disk in drive f before you can use it. I tried plugging in all usb port I could find. And even the win xp 32bit showed the same msg. I also tried the "Easy Recovery Pro". But it didn't worked. When a click on any of the recovery option the software doesnot find any hard drive in my pc. Then I tried the "GetDataBack for NTFS". After 24 hours of scanning, it didn't find any of my files. Tonight, I will try the "diskdigger" and the "Recuva". But I am not putting too much faith on those software due some post I read here. I really need to recover same work data.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm building my first pc and I'm getting blocked right at the gate. I have a 64bit Windows 7 installation disk (home version, "for system builders" ). This is a fresh installation, I don't have any other OSs for this build so my options are limited.
It starts out fine, but when I get to the point where I am to pick a hard drive to install to, it won't accept anything. It will allow me to delete partitions but clicking on "New" or "Format" (under the advanced options) makes it think for a few seconds, then just stop like nothing happened.
I have tried formatting it through gparted, but no matter what I do it complains that the drive has been formatted with in GPT, even when the drive is completely clean and unformatted.
I'm using a Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1tb hard drive

basically a bad partition will not allow me to wipe the computer clean, boot XP from the drive or add/change bios screen...i don't have tje kind of cash to buy or pay for repairs. what can i do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedA couple of weeks ago a storm blew through and knocked out my power for a moment, then it came back on. Within a few seconds, another wind gust and it ripped our power lines down.Got power back a few days later, and have been busy trying to fix this on my own but to no avail.
My computer booted into system recovery tools, start up problem fixes etc. none of them worked, leading to the decision to format my SSD and try to reinstall windows 7. I get to "windows is copying files" and it stays stuck at 0% for about a minute or two, then I get "Windows could not format a partition on disk 1. The error occured while preparing the partition selected for installation. Error code: 0x8007057.
I concluded that I should try deleting the partition and creating a new one. That however, got me this message:Failed to delete the selected partition. [Error: 0x8007017].So I decided to try and format the drive, to this result:
Failed to format the selected partition. [Error: 0x8007057].
Same result as when I was trying to install. Puzzles me! I've still got a lot to learn.I've tried removing unnecessary RAM, same results.Having the same problem with a Vista 64 bit install disk, and have tried to install on my SSD and HDD with no differences.

ASUS Sabertooth X58 MoBo
Core i7 920

Now when start the up of the lap top both selection are coming will start with old win or new win-7...and having some trouble with my windows 7 that's why I want to full format the hard dive without bootable disk and install new win-7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday, I inserted an old disk I found that apparently had some of my old memories on, I put that in my disk drive, my PC lagged out, I could still move my mouse etc., then Blue Screen of Death, so then my PC restarted, fair enough; it then gave me this weird error, something like no OS or something. I did all the checks, unplugging any USB's etc, checking BIOS for AHCI is on and not IDE, still no workies. So then I grabbed a Win7 Installation Disc, when I went to custom install, this came up on the side.
"*Yellow Exclamation Mark Triangle* Windows cannot be installed to this disk. (Show details)."
I press show details, then this dialogue box came up.
"*Yellow Exclamation Mark Triangle* Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."
So I went to my BIOS, did the same checks again, ran the installer again and then same thing happened. When I say checks I went to change it to IDE, same error again. So fair enough, I reset my BIOS to default, same error again. I searched online, and I burnt a program called DBAM, which nukes your harddrive, I ran that and it seemed to have cleared my drive, I think! I tried it again, same error. I then downloaded and burnt PartitionMagic or something like that, I couldn't run anything with it as it said "BadDisk" or something like that.
As a last resort, I tried to install Ubuntu, same issues illustrated above. After, I used DiskPart in the CMD, I couldn't make a partition as it gave me a I/O Error "diskpart has encountered an error the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error". I tried to use the Win7 install again, still no damn luck, therefore I tried to use the new partition maker thing in the installation disk, another error came up.
I have a 250gb drive that has not been formatted. I have an old H45 Tech enclosure from 10+ years ago, and had placed it in there to prep for NAS, as the NAS was not recognizing it either. Because I could not get it to read in the h45 box-- I was able to get it to format 128gb's of it, but I wanted the whole thing formatted to use all 238...gb of the drive, so, I bought a dynex 3.5" disc enclosure, it just arrived today, and while it read, and installed on my laptop, it would not allow me to format it. In going into storage mgmt, it said that it was not allocated, and asked me to select an option-- mbr, or as a secondary.
In looking at the notes, it said that the secondaries are only good for larger than 2tb drives. So, I selected the mbr, and got a message stating there is an i/o error in attempting to format it. Now, in plugging it in to check the message for specifics, it won't even recognize it, so now I can't even get to tell you the specific message. The pins are set to read cable select. I'm running Win7 Ultimate on a GW-M285 convertible, 500gb drive, 4gb ram.
how to disable please insert na disk into drive/device/hardisk/DR3 message
View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst I want to say that the drive works without problems at the correct speed. The problems come upon disconnect. I also want to to stress that USB 2.0 discs are working flawlessly. If I use safe eject and the look in the device manager I get an error 47 saying that it has been shut down but not disconnected, it also says I can rectify it by disconnecting and reconnecting but this does not work. If I do so the drive will not be recognized. The enclosure has a power switch. After a safe eject I have tried both pulling the USB cable while power is still on and also going the other way by first shutting the power down. In both cases the error 47 shows in device manager. When this happens the CPU load goes up to about 20% and stays that way when it before was around 0 at idle. If I reboot the drive reconnects and I have no problem with it unless I try to safely eject it again.

"A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
I have been searching for solutions all day but I can't do any of the options described. Pressing f8 to enter safe mode does nothing, nor does alt+f10. I also don't have a cd drive as its just a netbook and no recovery cd came with it even if I did have a portable one. Anyone have any ideas? I'm on a boat in the Arctic for the next month and without my laptop I will likely jump off an iceberg!
I'm trying to install Windows 7 64bit. After loading windows 7 setup from my dvd drive I get the error "Required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing." From doing a lot of research, it seems this error has nothing to do with my DVD drive but has to do with the SATA Controller Driver. So I try to load the 64bit drivers for the SATA controller and it finds them okay but when i try to install, it says something like "no new devices found". The SATA Driver(s) are the only it ever finds, except for the time I enabled Raid... Then those drivers showed up as well but with the exact same results.
From another forum I was directed to this microsoft page: [URL] and the resolution says: "To workaround this issue, disable AHCI mode for your disk controller in the system BIOS. Typically the controller has to be changed from AHCI mode to "IDE" or "ATA" mode. "
My motherboard is an Asus P5N-E nForce 650i SLI Chipset LGA775 FSB1333 DDR2 Mainboard. However, I can not find anyway to change the setting from AHCI mode to IDE or ATA. As far as I can tell, nothing in my bios allows me to change that setting... or at best it's unapparent.
My system is a Hewlett Packard CQ 1040UK
AMD E350 1.60 GHZ
3.00 RAM
64 bit OS.
It is six weeks from new. When I load a dvd rom into the drive bay at the front of the computer the dvd is taken into the machine. When I try to play the disc I get the message 'insert disc'.Watching DVDs worked perfectly until a few days ago.
This is kinda long and I've fixed it, but could use your input. So after waking up, my parents informed me that the computer was shutting down randomly. I turned it on and "a disk error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart " appeared. It's a Sata hard drive so I checked the cables to make sure they were plugged in correctly and they were, and then I tried connecting it to another computer with that computers cables and that didn't work either. My parents not wanting to buy one online, decided to just go to bestbuy and buy one there, since we already had the Windows 7 Disk at home. I formatted it, partitioned it, and installed Windows 7 Home Premium on it and everything worked. I decided to connect the Hard drive that didn't work while the computer was still on, and it immediately started downloading the drivers it needed and up popped all the hard drive. I'm going to start transferring all the important things like music, videos and games, and after, all I can see are the following 3 things; after getting all the data we want off it, should I reinstall windows to see if my other computer will recognize it (Even though it couldn't before), format it and just use it as extra data (though since it already couldn't boot up, the ability to keep data on it may fail in a couple of days/weeks) or just put it away and not use it at all.
