I'm having a problem trying to open and extract files from a .rar file.When I click on it I get a pop-up message that says, "Installer Name param is missing" whatever the heck that means.

I am working on automation project in which we are installing the Windows OS on client machine with the help of different OS packages available on server.While installing Windows XP/2003 we are checking for the OS installer packages to get the difference between x86 and x64 architectures.e.g. x86 package contains - I386 folder and PRODSPEC.INI file. and x64 package contains - I386 folder, PRODSPEC.INI and one additional folder AMD64..Is there any such specific folders or file for Windows 7installer package, by using which we can identify that this is for x86 or for x64?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIm having a problem with opening files I use to open with two programs. One is mkv, vob and divx files with homecinema. And snes roms with an emulator. Basically win 7 would let me select the program and it would show up on the list of programs to use. I would select always use and I'm done. But I moved the folders containing the files to a different folder and now my two programs I use will not show up in the open with list. I now have to go to the program itself and search for the files. Its a pain because I could click on the files and get right to them.

It never respond after black out, I made hard restart and screen freeze at the win 7 icon. No lucky, I hard press again and start up to ask me if I want to scan for my previous startup problem, I did and it tried fixing the problem til next morning. No luck, give me a choice of to do a HP recovery or system recovery, some how I must have accidentally click on HP recovery and preceded to click through all the warnings, til it was at 1% then I realized that it was going to delete all my DATA!Well, I was still very sleepy when I decided to terminate that recovery...by power shut down.So power up: "BOOTMGR is Missing Press Crtl-Alt-Del to restart"I went through F11 system recovery to try and see if I can still recover, but no luck, later i tried some steps in cmd window:

My original system is win 7 home premium 64x, but all I have at my disposal is a copy of win 7 ultimate 64x.Some specs of my computer: HP touchsmart with switchable graphic, intel i5 and ATI mobility Only has one OS: Windows 7 Home premium 64x Has HP recovery partition, and 300GB of other space.have this InsydeH20 Setup Utility Rev. 3.5 and currently all I can do is do some random scans.. Primary hard disk self test, and then memory test, I don't expect to see any problems since I have this done with in the HP system recovery environment.
When I make a backup copy of a dvd the ISO image is set to be saved to the C drive, yet when it's complete there is no trace of it. I've also tried saving it to specific folders and it never turns up there. I've tried searches and no results are found.

Halfway through the scan, norton crashed. The user looked into the Norton program files to see that the directory folder was completely empty. He then called me.I attempted to uninstall norton, but windows wouldn't allow the uninstall. The program showed up on the list of installed programs, but upon clicking "uninstall", nothing would happen. So, I downloaded and installed RevoUninstaller and used it to remove Norton. I left the registry unchanged, and only deleted the temporary files and remaining program directory. The computer asked me to reboot.
Upon rebooting, every single file in my program files AND in my program files x86 are gone. Desktop links are all broken, and ask to be deleted when double clicking. When I go into the uninstall program list, all the programs are listed, but error when I attempt to uninstall or change them.The laptop is running Windows 7 pro x64, and I am currently copying program files from previous versions into the present directory to see if this fixes the problem, and will update accordingly

I am missing well over 1000 files. A good deal of those are .gif files. When I go to the child folder they were in, it is empty as are all the child folders. When I use Windows Search to search the parent folder for *.gif, the results show 1000 of the files in the child folder they were in. They appear with the Irfanview icon, which is the default viewer and a .gif extension. They are way too small, < 1 kb. Irfanview cant open them, "...cant read the file header. unknown file format or file not found." I admit Im fried enough to have some how, possibly, maybe deleted a whole folder while doing a clean up, but it is still there and I cant possibly imagine selecting that many files and doing anything with all of them
View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently I installed Windows 7 x64 RTM on my 500gb, on my 320gb I had XP and build 7600 x32 running, I decided to format my 320gb as i was switching over x64 (formatted using windows 7 disc), The OS refused to boot claiming boot files were missing, after running startup repair a few times it was fixed.
Now when I try remove my 320gb it refuses to boot and claims boot files are missing, having a look at my 320gb in computer management I see it has a second partition called system reserved, which has bootmgr and other files in it, so it seems windows 7 installed on my 500gb but put all the boot info on my 320gb, how do i create a boot section/folder on my 500gb so I dont have to keep my 320gb in my pc?
I created a folder for some files/documents on the desktop but then I moved that folder into another folder. When I checked again I couldn't find any documents/files I saved.

I do not recall what I did to get rid of this issue, but the rogue anti-virus software is no longer posting imaginary warning messages. Avast shows no threats + Malwarebytes removed all the remaining threats.As a workaround, I created a 2nd Administrator account and was able to connect and open up Firefox to browse for some fixes. This was before Malwarebytes removed the threats (LOG AT END OF POST)I previously used to not be able to open any .exe files on the 1st admin account due to some permission issue related to the spyware. After the spyware/trojan removal - I have messed up .exe file associations and cannot access "regedit.exe" either through "run" or "cmd". I keep getting a "Cannot find C:Windowsegedit.exe" despite the file still being there. The only way to get cmd is through task manager by CTRL + clicking "Open new Process". View 3 Replies View RelatedHere is a rundown of what happened. I was on the computer, not doing anything online and suddenly the computer shuts down and restarts. Upon restarting, windows (I'm running Windows 64 bit Home Premium) appears to not be able to open. It promptly displayed a new loading bar with "Loading Windows Files" or something like that. I attempted to reboot in safe mode, lastest working config, etc but nothing worked. I ran hardware checks including memory checks and nothing appeared to be wrong. When trying to run the repair utility, there was a startuprepairoffline error and the issue could not be fixed. I attempted a system restore but it said the restore failed. However, upon restarting my computer, it loaded to Windows and said restore was successful. Now that I somehow have Windows up, I am unable to use any programs of any kind besides cmd, regedit, etc. I have attempted to download the exe_fix_w7 file however it will not merge with the existing registry as it says that some are in use. I have tried both in safe mode as well as normal but to no use. I attempted to manually edit the lines which seems possible however I'm unsure if I did it correctly. So basically I'm stuck at not being able to open any files at the moment. I'm still not entirely sure there isn't something wrong with the hardware as on start up the computer now makes a sound on the Dell splash screen as if something is shutting down internally, however the BIOS diagnostic had everything passing so it may be nothing.
