Got a new computer today, plugged in my old 500GB hard drive for back up storage. I went into it, can see everything fine, go through the program files, etc...Except I can't find my old documents, pictures, or anything that was saved on my desktop. A search won't even bring it up. How the heck can I get it back?
I have a virus infected sata hard drive with windows 7 on it. It has the win 7 anti virus 2012 on it, and it's a cybercriminal virus. I have lots of files I want to transfer to the new sata drive. I already have windows 7 installed on the new drive. How do I get the files from the bad drive to the new one?
I have a USB Webcam 6.1.7601.17514 from Microsoft installed on a Fujitsu Laptop (Windows 7 ) and I want to copy and install it on another Fujitsu laptop (Windows 7).The other laptop the camera is not working and there is no webcam driver installed.
I just reinstalled win 7 home premium edition onto my cpu and now i cant find my secondary hard drive. It shows up in my bios but not on my computer screen. NO I do not want to format this hard drive it has all my backed up files!!! Can anyone help me? A little more info: Before i redid my cpu the hard drive was a secondary that i had used bitlocker on to keep it password protected. I know my password but i do not see my hard drive and i NEED to get into this hard drive.
I'm doing a complete install from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional (apparently a simple upgrade isn't possible). But the installation never gets started, because when it asks me to select a drive to install to, the list is blank. It can't find my hard drive, and there's no way to direct it to do so.
This is odd, because Vista has always run perfectly for me, and I've never experienced any issues. All of my Windows updates and drivers are current, Microsoft Security Essentials is disabled, and still Windows 7 can't seem to find my C drive. Any suggestions?
Recently my wife caught a virus on her computer (HP touchsmart windows 7 home premium). Your typical virus program that sends hundreds of pop up screens and says click this for full removal, blah blah blah. Anyways I used malwarebytes to see if the program could be removed, malwarebytes found 5 problems and I removed them. Afterward I noticed that there were no icons on the screen, I tried to bring up task manager and the computer rebooted. once the computer rebooted, there was a black screen with "no operating system found".
I tried the "repair your computer" option on the Windows 7 disk, but it was not able to repair the problem automatically, I also tried some manual command scan prompts that I found on the net. None of this has worked so far.
I figured that I would take the hdd out of her computer and dock it to another computer. The hard drive connected fine, but when I tried to open it there was nothing in there. I tried to make sure that all files were not hidden (they weren't). Funny thing is when I click on properties for the drive it shows that the drive is 2/3rds full but I can't see any files or information when I try to search the drive. I also just tried copying the hard drive to another harddrive and it was copying files but once I opened the new location, it was still empty (even thought the folder said in properties 84 gigs).
Is there something that I am missing, I would like to retrieve all of her documents, pictures etc. then I could reformat that drive and re-install windows if I can not get it to boot back up correctly.
I recently installed Windows 7 and it's been working fine but when I go to "computers" it does not display my secondary harddrive only my primary, how do I add it?
I have four internal hard drives C: D: E: and F: Starting last night Hard drive E: only shows up ever so often. Sometimes I have to reboot and it shows up but other times it doesn't. I have removed it and pressed it back in its slot to make sure there isn't just a bad connection. It's the same in Disk Management, E: is still missing there too. All the other hard drives are fine?
I bought a new custom PC from ebay, a shop called FreshTech Solutions, so when it arrived I tried installing Windows 7 Home Premium (came with it). Obviously I need to do a custom install, as I'm not upgrading from anything, but when I get to the screen where it asks where I would like to install Windows 7, nothing is listed. I've tried loading from the disc that came with the motherboard, the Windows 7 CD itself, even the C drive (said it needed to format it, but couldn't).
I am running windows 7 home 64 bit (build 7600). I have a gateway fx7026. It has two internal hard drives. When I look under device manager they are both listed and they are both listed under the bios menu. When I look in my computer though under hard disk drives it only shows the one that I have the OS on. When I had Vista it showed both of them. Is this something I should be worried about. The drives are listed as WDC WD3200AAJS-22B4A0 DRIVE 1 and WDC WD3200AAJS-22B4A0 DRIVE 0.
I had windows seven and upgraded to windows 7 ultimate and when I save files it goes to drive d when I download files and save some thing it save but I have old files from the other windows seven and the other windows seven is deleted but the files are still in drive c not my new one.
After restart it sometimes does not find the primary hard drive. The error pops up from time to time. Sometimes from browsing the web, downloading or playing a game. It even pops up while I`m not doing anything at all. I did a checkdisk and it turned out clean.
I was wondering this because i have an ssd for my boot, and a hdd for my storage. i am installing borderlands 2 on the hdd and i need to get to the program files. are they on the one on the c drive or where else? I am wondering because last time i looked i didnt see them there
I just need your expert opinion on this matter before I call Dell back. Apparently my Hard drive went out on my new computer (6 mos.old) and, I guess a possible Motherboard problem as well, because the Dell tech told me they were sending a Hard drive & a motherboard to a service tech near me. Anyway, the tech came out with only the Hard drive. When I ask him where the Motherboard was, he didn't know anything about a motherboard.Dell did not send him one. He went ahead and installed the Hard drive & every thing seems to be working fine now for 4 days so far. My concern is, do you think my computer would still work ok if it has a faulty motherboard too? My warranty will be up in about 6 months & just want to make sure. I have a message to call Dell back & let them know how my service call went, but Just wanted your opinion before I do. Should I insist on a new motherboard?
I had Dell XPS 8300 Desktop & had bought & Installed Windows-7 ( Ultimate ) on it's 500 GB HDD.I gave that system to my relative except Hard Drive.Now I bought Dell T-7500 Workstation with only DOS installed on it's hard drive to save some money & because I already have Windows-7 ( Ultimate ) DVD.I took out the hard drive with DOS from the workstation & replaced it with the hard drive that I had in XPS with Win-7 already installed.I then tried to boot it in the workstation but it wouldn't boot & gave error messages.So I formatted the OS Partition & fresh installed Windows-7. Now it does load Windows -7 but first it goes thru some other commands as follows when I start the system.

Then it loads Windows-7.All of above happens on its own, I didnt touch anything.So what is going on & what do I have to do get rid off those initializing commands ? I have never had this happen to any previously owned Dell systems.Also I haven't installed any drivers yet but Sound, Video & Internet does work.Do I need to install any drivers & if yes, which ones ?Here is the configuration of Dell workstation T-7500 :

my wife broke our laptop, i had all of my music on that hard drive and hadnt yet backed it up. the hard drive is still good, so i bought an external hard drive enclosure and put the old hard drive in it. i hooked it up, but am not able to get to any of my files off of it. computer recognizes it is there, shows folders, but wont/cant read files. wont open itunes or any other programs i had on it.the old drive was in windows vista, new computer is windows 7. does that matter?what do i need to do?
I'm looking at getting an external storage device to store my files on, and I can't decide what to get.Is there a massive difference between between an external hardrive, and a Desktop hard drive? I am using Windows 7 OS. I had two logical partitions, E & F. I saw an unallocated free space on my disk. I tried to to mount unallocated drive to another
logical drive , it asked for the folder,where I wanted to mount I gave one folder in E drive. it asked if i want to format...i said
no. and thats all,process completed! And just then I saw there was no other logical drive left...neither E nor F. Now I can see only C drive and nothing else. how to recover my hard drive and the files now?
I am a salesman in a tech department of an office supply store, and I had a customer issue stump me today. She had an external drive with lots of files on it she wanted to access. I took the drive, plugged it into a Windows 7 machine (HP quad), and all of the files appeared, no problem. But, then I plugged the seagate drive into her new Toshiba laptop (also Win 7), and only some of the files appeared. Missing were all photo files, and many other types. I could not figure out why some were missing and some showing. I took the drive to a third computer with Win 7, an MSI all-in-one, and behold: files were missing. Now it seemed almost arbitrary. Could it be a matter of some Windows updates not yet installed? Why would the exact same drive work differently on three different computers in regard which files were seen and accessible? None were "hidden" files.
I just bought a new computer, i7 860 and have put 7 x64 on it.
my motherboard is ausus p7p55d and has one ide socket on the board.
I was using this socket for my cd and dvd drives but I have detached them so I can plug in my old IDE hard drive.
I was using the IDE drive just 2 days ago in my old system.
Sometimes when I boot up the drive is seen and sometimes not.
when the drive is seen I try and copy some files over to my new sata drive I have in the new system. some of the files copy over but the the IDE drive always gets stuck. when I try to cancel the copy windows stops responding partially and I cant get out of the copy window and the old IDE hard drive explorer window.
So I restart windows and normally it now doesn't see the IDE drive.
