View 1 RepliesI've been having a problem with Windows 7 recently on my new computer that I just got a couple weeks ago. The problem is that my computer will have a blue screen error when waking from sleep mode. I don't see the blue screen at all, instead, when waking from sleep mode, I see the BIOS screen and then it goes through the typical startup process as if the computer had been powered OFF instead of put into sleep mode (however, I know it was properly in sleep mode, as the power light on my tower flashes continually rather than shutting off during this mode). I get the message that Windows did not shut down properly and have the option to boot into safe mode, etc. When I boot back into normal mode I receive a message in Windows saying windows has recovered from an unexpected shut down. [code] However, when I tried to install the hotfix, I was given the message "This update does not apply to your system", which I have read may be an indicator that the update has already been installed? I have run Chkdsk on drive C successfully, and I have installed every available windows update as of today (Apr 14, 2012)

Everything seems to work fine, except when I resume using the computer after it goes to sleep, I get a BSOD. When I wake the computer up, it shows me the log-in screen, but when I click on my user profile to log in a blue screen appears. Also, it only seems to happen when the computer enters sleep mode on its own. If I put it into sleep mode, it wakes up with no problems.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI keep getting a message on a bluescreen, often when the cpu comes out of sleep mode, that it is shutting down to avoid damage or something. I also often have trouble getting ctrl alt del to work. Recently, we removed several viruses, and hijackers from the computer, that made it so I couldn't even google search, and its only been doing it since then. As I write, malwarebytes said it was removing threats. I have scoured everywhere I could think of and removed almost all unnecessary programs, files and downloads. Could there stll be a virus? Could a previous virus have corrupted the comp irreversibly?
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I close the lid, the computer goes into sleep mode. When I open my lid, it goes onto the log in screen. Once I log in, it recconects to my router. It says it connects to the router, but doesn't connect to the internet. I then restarted my wireless card, due to an on/off button on the side my of laptop, and once restarted, it connected to my router and still, no internet.

After restarting I have a lot of (15) errors in system log:

Several days ago I have updated my bios and some drivers, so I suspect that the reason may be some driver.
I have dell latitude e4310 notebook running Win7x64 SP1.
i've been running windows 7 on my computer ever since i found out i need a higher bit os to run my movie editing programs. as i filled up my c drive and d drive with clips and photos and what not, my computer started doing weird things. the crashes are never consistent, sometimes the screen goes black, sometimes it freezes, sometimes i get a blue screen, and sometimes i can't even start the thing. i tried freeing up some space on my computer but no luck. now i can't even watch a Internet video without it crashing. so:
a) if i have no memory left on the computer, does this affect how it runs? when it was extremely full i wouldn't even be able to view pictures and stuff, but i have 2.5 gb left on c right now so i can view pictures but i can't even watch a Internet video or run 2 or 3 tabs at once
b) i downloaded my os off the internet, but it's never given me any problems. could this be buggy?
c) my old os is on the d drive and it takes up a lot of space, can i delete it to free up space? is it a good idea to?
d) do i need a ram upgrade? i really don't even know how much i have, it says 2 gb ddr2 memory if that means anything. at idle it runs at about 57%

i'm not sure if its the same everytime but this is what i got on the last occasion.
i taut that the problem was with the amd catalyst suit, 12.8-which i upgraded to when it released- because sometimes upon restarting i did not get any display signal from the video card on my f22 aoc monitor. i did uninstall this driver and installed an older version [11.8 i think] and got an ease up on the problem. no restarting as regular as before. only during games.
My Girl recently got a Dell Inspiron N5040, when we first turned it on, after a few mins it randomly restarted, i thought maybe its just an update (had to install loads of windows updates) however, over the past week, its being doing it every time its been turned off for a few hours... however once it restarts and comes back on, it usually is fine, It's only when leaving it a long while then turning it back on, it does the same again, and today for the first time we got a blue screen of death, which i believe may lead to some answers, here is the report:

i recently ran into a problem with starting up my computer. I have the blue screen of death. I've tried safe mode. It won't work. I would click safe mode it would load and then go back to the blue screen. I have a lenovo laptop and I'm not trying to pay 150-200 for it!

My laptop is just under 12 months old and other than the battery dying already I have never really had any problems until last week. Its a Dell Inspiron 1564, Intel I3 running windows 7 home premium.After my computer has been woken from sleep mode any window I open in full size no longer sits flush with the top of the monitor (its about a cm below top of screen), but my desktop background is still normal and reaching the top of the monitor and I can put my cursor up there. I have updated my video and BIOS drivers from the Dell website yesterday but that doesnt seem to have done anything. If I restart my computer it goes back to normal again until the next time it sleeps but I would really rather not have to turn my computer on and off 15 times a day?

When the system comes to it will tell me the event name was Blue Screen and that the computer is recovering from a unexpected shutdown.I'm currently running my computer on the High Performance plan and not letting it go to any other mode?By the way, my system is a dual boot with Windows XP. XP is on my main drive and 7 is on my second drive.

My computer crashed yesterday and I got stuck with a reboot error where it would load through the Windows XP screen but get stuck on "Setup is restarting" blue screen and it just sits there. So I tried to just put Windows XP on the computer since I couldn't get anything to work. No Safe Mode, no Debugging nothing would work. Well I partially installed Windows XP on my D: drive and I am able to boot from the disk but C: drive says "System Reserved" and running from my D drive, all i have is a Recycling bin. I tried to setup a connection to the internet but it isn't recognizing anything ( since there is no connection wizard ). Point is I'm able to get into Windows, only it seems I have the files but nothing works.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio VPCSB11FX/W laptop. I lock the screen (it's password protected too) and close the lid when I need to get up to do something else while using it. Usually, the blue Windows 7 lock screen shows up when I open the laptop, but just now, I got a black screen that wouldn't respond to any buttons, so I shut the laptop down manually by holding down the power button. When I booted up and logged in, I got the old 'Windows was shut down unexpectedly' message.
Just curious, why did I get the black screen? Also, the power button was green, which means it wasn't in sleep mode at all, and the laptop's fan was whirring loudly too. This has happened to me a couple of times before, and I usually wait at least 30-60 seconds for the black screen to respond before shutting down, though the fan makes a louder noise the longer I wait. This happened even though the lid was closed properly.
Every time it hibernates I see a blue screen and I have to restart. The PC is:

For the past several mornings, when clicking my mouse to wake my PC from sleep mode, my screen remains completely black. I can hear the PC start up, the fan running, etc. I can even hear the Windows log on sound when I punch in my password. All power lights are on, but the monitor refuses to display anything, not even a blinking cursor.My keyboard then becomes unresponsive and I'm unable to shut my PC down using the power button. I've had to hard reboot several times by manually switching my surge protector off and on. After getting the expected message that Windows didn't shut down properly, my system then starts up as usual. I have Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit). My processor is an AMD Athlon II X4 630 and I have 6 GB of RAM. Both my PC and monitor are brand new.

Also, I noticed that there is a hotfix for this provided by microsoft, but I would have no way to use this since my computer cannot get stuck out of this. Last night i updated windows because some updates where finished, during shutdown the update was installed. This morning i turn on my computer, it beeps once(loud beep not a soft beep) The screen doesnt flicker and goes into sleep mode.
I tried disconnecting the videocard and reconnecting the wires, still doesnt work. I pressed F2, F8, F12, doesnt go to BIOS screen or Boot. I have no idea how to get the connection back. Has anyone has this problem and can help me find a solution.
