Toshiba Windows 7 C655d Won't Start In Safe Mode / Keep Getting A Crash Blue Screen
Jul 9, 2012
my Toshiba Satellite C655D wont reboot it gets to 95% and says error then a blue screen pops up and says it is crashing . Is there anything I can do to repair it . I dont have a repair disk.
i recently ran into a problem with starting up my computer. I have the blue screen of death. I've tried safe mode. It won't work. I would click safe mode it would load and then go back to the blue screen. I have a lenovo laptop and I'm not trying to pay 150-200 for it!
Ive had my laptop just over a year now, and have had no problem with it till yesterday. I recently installed a new printer and three days later all I get is the "blue screen of death" I have tried starting with repairs and it says there is no problem. I tried starting it up in safe mode, safe mode + networking, and safe mode + command prompt and continue to receive the blue screen.
The computer i am running has been through a lot of stuff, and this morning it finally gave out on me, It blue screened and now will only start in safe mode, when i run it normally it allowed me to type my password then it freezes while saying welcome. and does not go past there sometimes it will restart or blue screen from there. runs fine though.
I used clonezilla to copy the data on my laptop drive to an external 640gb drive I had. The cloning process went fine but when I went to boot on the 640gb drive I (expectantly) got a blue screen error. Now, the way to fix this would be to boot into safe mode and delete the drivers but for some reason every time I boot and press the f8 button it brings me into the Windows Error Recovery mode menu which has no options for safe mode and doesn't help at all.
My A200 has been upgraded to 4GB RAM, and Win7, worked fine for a while, then started randomly freezing with weird screen stuff (video not displaying properly). Power off only worked. Much frustration and removal of progs later, tried on safe mode - works fine. Safe mode with networking - works fine. Can plug it in (surefire way to get it to fault normally) and in safe mode it works fine, in normal mode, immediate fault.
Thought perhaps a horrible malware, did clean install from disc of win7, no change (except now, coz I deleted all the Toshiba drivers, the dvd drive is noisly lol). Can't load progs to run the damned thing properly because it won't run in normal mode, only safe mode. Tried formatting the hdd, but it won't let me (partitions) which I thought were reformatted during a clean install anyway?
Haven't tried changing the charger yet, because it works fine in safe mode, so I thought probably a software issue? Have tried minimal or "clean" normal boots, freezes immediately.
Like the title says, my computer is stuck on a black screen.I downloaded an update and was instructed to restart the computer. After restarting the computer it went to a black screen. It won't do anything past that. I've tried starting it in safe mode but always with the same result. I have no idea what to do with this short of taking it to Best Buy to have the geek squad take a look at it and frankly I don't feel like doing that.
Ok, so yesterday I tried to use the Win7 backup tool. I had a 200 gb hdd as a second drive that I usually keep copies of all my folders on. The backup utility said there was not enough space on that drive for a backup, so I formatted the drive. At this point I decided to upgrade my bios using the ASUS tool that came with the motherboard. (Bios IS working.)I went to restart after upgrading BIOS, and when it tries to load windows, the soon as it reaches the Windows screen it crashes, you see a quick "Blue screen of death" (I can't read it) and it goes to the windows boot menu. BUT it only gives you 2 options: Load Normally or Attempt to Repair. When I go into the attempt to repair, it says it cannot repair, and gives me this eror:[CODE]I had downloaded software from download.com and accidentally installed and uninstalled a toolbar from there. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
I am using acer laptop, intel Pentium processor,windows7 professional os,my problem is windows is not starting normally and is running safe-mode.when entering normal mode it is displaying "welcome" after entering password "Please wait",it takes a long time to starting window and i'm waiting more than 24 hours but its not starting window normally...but it starting safe mode.
I have a Laptop HP pavilion Dv4 my graphics card is AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200, my processor is AMD Turion(tm) II dual core mobile M500. The thing is i was playing Tropico 4 and i paused it then it began to mix pixels i couldn't see nothing, then i restarted and this is what happens:I cant see nothing, all is mixed up. on safe mode runs well.I played driver san francisco, fallout new vegas before and any of this happened.
i bought my hp pavilion dv6 laptop in 2010 and the warranty went out on 2011, i turn on my laptop and i only get the quick web. Every time i try to start window it tells me it cant. i can not even get on safe mode. it asks me to repair my computer but every time i click on that i get a blank blue screen (baby blue color). i have tried to go on safe mode it wont let me, i tried to go on safe mode command prompt and it still wont let me,
i cant start my laptop in normal mode. when i start in normal ,mode i stuck in black screen only the mouse pointer is appear, when i wait it reboot again but still i get stuck in black screen
When I try and launch either Firefox or IE, the browser crashes right away before it even opens. I have updated my AV (MSE) and Malware software (Malwarebyts' & Super AntiSpyware), booted in Safe Mode and performed full system scans and they detect nothing. I checked the Event Viewer and it shows the crash, but I have no idea what is causing it to crash.Just for the sake of tying, I created a new user profile and that is having the same issue. I've also rolled back to a restore point 2 days ago, still the problem persists. [code]
Toshiba mini laptop NB255 with windows 7 crashes after each start up: after power on windows 7 is loaded (it takes for ever) but after few minutes laptop crashes and restarts.
i reformatted my Toshiba satellite a505 to factory setting and now after the reformat its asking me for user name and pass ive tryed all my previous log in information and incorrect it tells me my accounts have been disabled and to contact my system administrator i can get to safe mode and want to try to reformat again but cant find where to go i dont have a startup disk
this might seem like a really dumb question but i've tried pressing f8 repeatedly on asus screen to try and start windows in safe mode but it never works.
Got a nice comp about a year ago off craigslist and havent had a single issue with it until now. I am not your typical "oh-you-mean-I-have-to-plug-it-in-to-work" end user, but neither am I an "expert". Especially in this case I'm in way over my head; a few days ago I went to slave up a buddy's HD. The mistake here was that I had always worked with ATA, not SATA. Yes, I was a temporary idiot, and no, I don't remember WHAT I was thinking. Whatever was or wasn't going through my head, I hooked up the second drive to the second clip on the (belt?). Everything started as usual until the windows loading bar; after the bar, I got a black screen, and then the computer shut itself off.On attempt #2 to startup (and removing the second hard drive), before the loading bar, I get a prompt for "Windows startup repair" or "Start windows normally". Option #1 results in "windows is loading files" for about 10 seconds, then black screen, then computer shuts itself off again. Option #2 just results in windows loading bar, black screen, then computer shuts itself off.

After running diagnostics specifically towards this, it consistently fails the Confidence Test and consistently passes the Device Self Test (the Read Test and Verify Test options are greyed out).I've defaulted everything in the BIOS (although it says my HD is in a Raid setting, which as I understand it is for synching multiple HDs together, but the only option to change it to is ATA, which I know my HD is not). I have tried bare-bonesing the startup as well, but running only microsoft stuff I still get the same results as above, and I dont know enough to risk turning off anymore startup stuff.
The most confusing part of all is when I broke down and just decided to reformat the drive and start from scratch. Again, I could only boot from the Windows 7 CD in safe mode, and while in there I reformatted the main drive (there are 3 partitions; OEM, Recovery, and the Main). I have done this process multiple times, but the only thing I get even after reformatting the drive is more OS to choose from when starting the comp.As for computer stats I dont remember everything off the top of my head, and can't get past the setup screen now on windows, so I dont know how to check. From the dell website comes this mess: Dell Technical Support Home Page / Dell Troubleshooting Search Other than that what I can remember is:8gig ram, quadcore (cant remember gHZ), 1mb ATI Radeon vid card, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Sorry if this isn't enough, if anyone knows of a way I can check for further info I'll be happy to oblige.
I dont know how long before my system will crash again. I just upgraded from 32 bit to 64 bit windows 7 a matter of hours ago, and this never happened in 32 bit (had it for 2 years)...My comp has crashed twice in last 10 minutes with the following error log that will show up when I reboot
Yesterday, I added malware bytes protection and also last night installed avg 2012. Ran scans, everything was moving faster. Shut down last night...and this morning windows will not come on in normal or safe mode. When try to start in safe mode it says STOP: c0000135 program cannot start %hs is missing. On another post with similar code it had a link to put on usb drive and to put in infected laptop and restart with f8. When I did that it said no bootable partition in table. When usb is not in it just goes back to stop message. I have a dell inspiron core i3 (I don't know if that matters). I have tried running restore to previous time and it did not work. when i click on repair it goes to the launch window or start in safe mode option?
At any rate, I just got myself a new ASUS laptop running windows 7 64-bit. Now I had no problems with it setting up Firefox, installing antivirus or installing the host of windows updates. What did happen is that when I tried to reboot (for the second time, first time wasn't a problem) it gave me a screen called "configuring windows features". Now I at this point I cried out a few curses and went to have something to eat. When I returned, half an hour later, the progress was still at 15%, the same as when I left it. Obviously having frozen up, I gave it a quick search. People with similar problems with windows updates reccomended forcing a powerdown despite the warning. After waiting for another half hour I did just that. Now Windows is refusing to start at all. It just sits at the "starting Windows" screen. Safe mode gets stuck on the screen with the list of drivers and restoration tools just gives me a black screen.
I have tried to start my laptop normally and in safe mode and it send me to start upi repair, this runs for two days and then I get an error message about no communications code 0xc00000e9
I cannot start my windows 7 in safe more or use recovery function. Problem happened after windows 7 update, then after restart windows defender asked me to restart again, and then blue screen or auto restart forever. I would like to disable or uninstall windows defender as i can access the command prompt but I can't find how to do? How to uninstall windows latest update with command prompt?
I had a BSOD problem launching Borderlands 2, and some other games too. My Video Card drivers are up to date and i still have BSOD. I got blue screen once more, and my pc restarted. Now I can't even start my windows, I get some black screen before windows 7 logo appears and I can't even start my windows in safe mode nor can I boot from a CD/DVD.
My system specs: Processor: AMD FX-8120 Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6850 RAM: 8GB 1866mhz HDD: 500GB
I recently somehow got a nasty virus into my lappy. It was extremely weird since I just bought a new anti-virus (Norton, to be exact) and my PC became super slow. I recognized signs of viruses and I decided to wipe the PC clean. My friend gave two Windows 7 DVDs. However, even after making DVD the first boot order at BIOS it just doesn't work. My DVD rom makes really nasty sounds and it waits on a black screen for a bit and then it shows me to choose safe mode or start normally.
Basically, my PC has always read DVDs (logo on it confirms it). Also, Rom itself isn't broken, other discs like the Norton one work fine. Since the DVDs my friend gave me were DVD R- and DVD RW. Later, I got yet another disc which was DVD R+ but it STILL didn't work. My PC doesn't recognize the DVDs even normally, through My Computer. Did the viruses ruin my drivers or something? My rom always read DVDs but why make weird noises now?
I am currently in safe mode as my Toshiba laptop cannot boot up properly. I get through the windows startup. All the icons on my desktop look normal, and then about 40 seconds later, a blue screen filled with information briefly appears before the computer shuts down and attempts to restart itself. It happens so fast I can't write down much of what was on the screen other than a data dump, with numbers counting down to 0 and then it does a restart on its own. I did a restore to November 20 and that did not help, so I did another restore for Nov. 9 and that too did not help. I did manage to open in safe mode and managed to find these errors in some event log :
